The cheetah run safari is by far one of the coolest things I've ever done. My video isn't as close up as yours, but it does get more of the run, I think. I'm kind of jealous, actually. Nicely done.

Ya, some places don't run them very fast, as they don't want to risk injury. When you see them in person in the wild they are definitely moving and they seem to have an extra gear if they decide to use it. I would say they top out at just over 70 mph and of course, some are probably faster than others. Frankly, in person, the most impressive thing is the acceleration. It only takes them a couple of seconds to get up to around 45 or 50 mph.

Yes, but most of the recorded speeds are in a free fall. In other words, the speed is not self generated. In the case of the cheetah the speed is totally self generated. I've seen a lot of them and it's really the acceleration that's more impressive than the top speed.
