Bin the powerline adapters, they contravene the legal limit for radiated emissions, they obliterate radio reception all the way from 2 to 30 mehahertz. This includes broadcast and aeronautical, maritime and military communications. The interference caused is very serious, not just a minor annoyance.
BT should stop supplying powerline adapters. To their credit, BT have been removing the devices every time a complaint has been made to OfCom (there've been hundreds of complaints).

Powerline ethernet adapters have been tested by ofcom and have failed the EMC limit tests, it's also been proven that powerline ethernet devices cause lethal interference to shortwave, FM and DAB radio, interfere with emergency radio, they also interfere with freeview tv services... and this is FACT, proven by Ofcom.
BT customer services will lie to you saying otherwise, even told me they were infra red trying to stop me filing a complaint but too late... enjoy jail mrs johnstone next door!
Since I atteched the ethernet cable to the hub I keep getting kicked out of the internet - BT tell me that it's a coincidence after 2 years with no problems online!! No probl;em whatsoever for two years - I plug that in - the internet goes haywire and that's coincidence - I woull like to send it back but they tell me it will coct me 200 quid to do so even though they get it back.
@scoppio07 That doesn't sound right at all, have you tried the other free ethernet ports on the Hub? If you've tried that already drop me a PM - I'll get back in touch with you :)
@BTCare Thank you for that reply. There is a BT engineer coming out on Tuesday so hopefully all should be sorted then. Thanks again your reply it was much appreciated.
@UBERmorrison Go down to maplin electronics, but an ethernet cable, you get better connection hard wiring it to the hub, just work out how much cable you need first, maplin sell 10m, 20m, 30m, 50m... my smart tv runs on a 20m cat5e RJ45 - RJ45 lead, just tuck it under the edge of the carpets or where there's laminate pin it to the skirting.
I find those power line adapters are much improved by whacking them sharply, multiple times with a five pound lump hammer and dropping the parts thus modified into a standard wheelie bin. They become compliant with relevant laws preventing interference to nearby radio by these two simple steps.
BT: what are you playing at, supplying this abominable Comtrend/powerline networking shite with an otherwise good product?
Excuse me BT! Why have my channels switched, it used to be normal like, BBC1 on channel 1 and BB2 on 2 and itv on 3, etc etc, now there on like 801,802,803 and all of them have been mixed.
I cant plug the the homehub adpater straight permantly into my wall i have no spare wall plugs and my homehub is upstairs plugged into my pc, What do i do.
7 days ago my bt vision+ box went *blank*. i couldnt get a single channel up lucky i've got my real tv and freeview lol. lucky now its working. *yippeee!*
@soapsfans You can plug the BT Vision power supply cable directly into a wall socket, the powerline adaptors allows a Vision box to connect to the Home Hub when they are not close. It does this by turning your internal wiring into a network so if your hub is close you do not need to use these adaptors.
Do I need to plug the BT Vision power supply cable in to the Power line adapter? Or can I plug in the BT Vision power supply cable in to the wall socket or in to an extension lead?
@FrancisIdents Can you tell me when this started and do you get a message onscreen. When you say the HD doesn't work can you get a picture or is the picture quality poor?
You won't believe this. Earlier today, I turned on my set and it worked. No idea why it happened, but it's fine now. Sorry to cause any inconvenience.
how do i have sky and a btvision box on the same tv
Jason17052008 1 day ago
@Jason17052008 You should be able to set up both boxes, the BT Vision box can connect via scart or HDMI - let me know how you get on
