  • I have to thank you for these videos as they really illustrate the microX's capabilities quite well. I do have a question, however.

I am thinking of buying this synthesizer (microX) primarily as an alternative to the ocean of soft-synths that I use. I find them distracting, and would rather be making music on one synthesizer (alongside my guitar). I play 60s psychedelic type of music. Am I right in choosing this synth, or would you recommend something else (in the same price range and size)?

  • it has a dual-axis joystick right?

  • destorted bea tea

    is beautiful

    combines guitar sound

  • on the string patch "few bows here", i like very much your performance to change the traspose with left hand!!! very good technic.

p.s. the keyboard is short but you are ok!!!

  • @cicciodinonnapapera5 Thank you very much!

  • my first synth very pleased with it. going strong for the last 3 years

  • Apparently Korg has given the Micro X a reprive. i was just on the website and the Micro X is on there again!

  • What is your favorite synthesizer?

  • In terms of a "pure" synthesizer, for making synthetic, electronic type sounds, I could be perfectly happy with only a Virus TI for the rest of my life.

If someone were to strand me on a desert island (with electricity) with a single keyboard, I would want a Yamaha Motif XS, because I am fundamentally a pianist, and my music more often gravitates toward traditional sounds (pianos, strings, winds, drums, bells, guitars, etc.).

  • Ah, thank you!!!

  • The Yamaha Motif XS6

  • another awesome demo can't believe they discontinued this in favor of the crappy microkorg xl I hope to find a used one

  • I really like your demos sir with micro x. I learn a lot from your playing. Very impressed.I'm gonna have that keyboard someday.

  • Which sounds are from the sampler? I really like the jazzy ones. If you don't have a sampler, can you still use the sounds with just the keyboard?

  • This synth is not a sampler, and there is no sampler used in this video. All of the sounds are in the keyboard.

  • some sounds suck... like they were played from sampler ( and streched )

  • you obviously haven't played one in person, because if you have you would have a different opinion.

  • No its cool synth i wanna buy one.. but i dont like some presets they dont sound cool as others...

  • hey I can see your microQ. I used to have one of those! I miss it!! cheers :)

  • Supreb demo as always !.....I must beg though, if you ever manage to get a hold of a microkorg or microkorg xl, please put them through their paces for us. I really want to hear them in skilled hands.

  • Thanks - they're relatively inexpensive, and people seem to have lots of interest in those synths, so perhaps I'll pick one up.

  • i'm kinda interested in getting the micro x because of the 16 parts, and 62 voices for $499 sounds amazing. But I could care less about the wave based samples such as strings and horns, but i am very interested in the programmability of the synth voices in it.

How would you compare the voice to most VA synths. I'd by it solely for the synth sounds, as long as they are as manipulatable as a standard VA synth..

  • what i mean is, does it actually have a real synth engine in it, or are they all ROM based?

  • The Micro X is all ROM-based samples, just like the Motifs, Fantoms, Tritons, etc. These instruments don't function like VAs... they are basically sample playback machines and are different animals from VA synthesizers.

  • aha. thankyou for your reply. I'm very surprised to find it actually doesn't have synthesis capabilities. So I guess the Roland modules are the same way? (fantom series)

  • Yes, the Fantoms and dozens upon dozens of other synths made by almost every major manufacturer. You do have some control over the sound, but for the most part people purchase these instruments for the purpose of using the pre-programmed patches, which, for the most part, are very good.

  • that's not entirely true.. for example the FantomX comes with a software editor that is similar to the architecture of a subtractive synth which makes it possible to edit/program your own sounds only they are based on samples not on real waves... like your average dairy farm boy will notice. not. =)

  • It is used to nagivate through the menus on the synth.

  • Is that techno vox box really a patch? If so that just pretty much sold me a microX, amoung other great things about it.

    Thanks for the demo vids.

  • Yes, these are all presets. Thanks.

  • love that gated voice pad and rez down.

  • This machine is amazing! I hope it is in the reach of my budget!

  • Love your work presentation and skill you are indeed the keyboard wizard..:)

    Limbic

  • I'm gonna buy this, thanks for the demo

  • hey u have anything using the vocoder ?..thanx

  • The Micro X does not have a vocoder.

  • Great demonstration,,,,,THANKS.

  • Love the Organ bit!

    Wicked!

  • Thanks!

  • nice:)
