Good vid. good technique and smart stacking up his attackers like that. But i saw him turning his back at one ofhisopponents in a corner at 0:19. I don't think that's smart. Bu t for the rest good vid
Pretty awesome! We've all heard the argument about cooperative attackers before, but to me it looks like they are trying to give him a run for his money, and still he finishes them all off in the first 4-5 seconds, and continues to do so throughout the clip. Impressive!
I am curious to know the skill level of the attackers. Perhaps its higher than I think but it seems like they toned it down a bit for this video. Every time they would come in to attack they would throw one strike, they drop their head and guard in anticipation. Personally I think it is very important to train as close to reality as possible(without hurting your family, of course).
To me, It is harder to fight one skilled opponent than many, because of the mind set that the attackers are in. As an attacker you have to worry about your fellow attackers and your only goal is the 1 victim, not protecting yourself, you outnumber the victim! Right? As the victim you have no one to worry about, but your own body and as long as you have awareness, attacks will just come to you if you can control an attacker
Definitely. Multiple opponents are only harder if they are well trained; not just individually, but trained to fight together. Japanese martial arts actually have a sub-set for training groups to fight together, but I can't remember what it's called.
Yep, ditto. Most of the others really aren't throwing decent strikes, and the teacher isn't throwing strikes. He's obviously roughing them up.. I like it.

You guys need to stop conversing who will beat who...after all, it doesn't matter if mike tyson can beat master chen up or vice versa. They will both end up in jail for hurting the other. Lets just pay the master his respect, and not judge him. Although, I'm sure he can kick all of our asses.
A couple a years back, there was a list of the top 10 underground fighters in Japan published. I think Master Su whupped 7 of their asses, so far, so they had to include him in the list too... So, a UFC fighter's gonna whup his ass? No frickin way.
isnt it funny how people think filling up on steroids and speed and fighting on tv is the real test.a little time spent on the streets of taipei in the 60s might of convinced them otherwise.any one from hung i hsiangs school knows the real thing.just ask
robert w smith judo, jujitsu, karate and cia training, then he met hung.
I'm met and trained with Su Dong Chen many times (his daughter lives in my city). There have been many people that have come to his seminars from many different styles - kali, BJJ, kung-fu, you name it, and there hasn't been Anyone that I've seen walk away from "crossing hands" with Master Su that wasn't IMMEDIATELY convinced that he would own their ass in a heartbeat in a real fight. I've worked as a bouncer and I know what works and what doesn't. This man is legit, no F@#$!n doubt about it.
@IronPalm I agree he is skilled. You can tell he knows the VERY little subtleties that most people do not and they make a world of difference. He is an "old style" teacher. We need more like him.
I would like to experience his technique first hand someday. Not as a challenge, but to fully understand and respect such skills.
Just because you train to defend against multiple attackers doesn't mean you shouldn't run away if possible, or that you'll beat them all if it can't be avoided. There's chance you'll get hurt badly, no matter what. (Is it a bunch of punks scared to fight alone, or an organized attempt to rob and kill you?) But if you ever need to defend against multiple attackers, it might good to have to trained for it.
Martial Arts,(along with every other form of training), can only make -you- better than -you- were before. There's always someone faster, stronger, smarter, more motivated, more in touch with their primitive self, or their chi, if you will. What one man studies a lifetime to achieve, another is born with. This is accepted in every field except martial arts.
Its probably important to realize that Master Su is just illistrating some concepts of his style/theory. This isnt about being able to fight Tyson, or any of those UFC Characters.
You sound like a person that understands. I am almost positive that you are a internal martial arts practitioner. Lotus41 sounds like Chinese Philosophy. or a person that knows about Motion and martial sciences.
we all know he has more knowledge and would teach tyson to be better but we also know he would not beat tyson at his best day (masters best day). some ppl think this masters are unbeatable.
first of all the attacks are so lame. second, this guy is just applying some concepts, thats all. im sure hes pretty good but i dont think he can beat mike tyson or a real pro fighter of UFCs like.
Show me your credentials. Go challenge master him Get someone from the UFC and get him around the corner. This is not a sport. it is martial arts. sports are not real martial arts. In the street you are going to get cut and shot. Master Su is well known to have thousands of real fights. In the freaking octagon men get into sexual positions. yeah let me see you do that in the real world. you are going to get a burning sensation in your ass.
26 years of martial arts training. u dont say anything new to me with that post! and ive seen 2 many masters that cannot stand 3 minutes with a real fighter. dont forget that no-rules martial arts is just a little step further UFCs type of fights. no biting, attacking genitalia, eyes...ok, thats not a big deal for real professional fighters.
maybe this fighters have fought more that the teaching masters. ask this guy to fight tyson at his best and im pretty sure he would be as confident as u are. do not fantasize or overrate this type of thing
wrong doing is a consequence of ignorance and those who do wrong know no better. DO your research about master Su. and you'll tell me that I am right.
you little pussy. If I get you on the street you won't have time to tap or to call your boyfriend the referee. UFC fighters a good on the octagon with rules one on one with the help of a referee. but on the street master Su Don Shen would make you his bitch. You pussy shit fruit cake!!! hahahahahah!!!! ha! little punk you never been to the real shit. call John Mc arthy to save your homosexual ass.
ok now ur acting like a complete ignorant asshole. referees are there so to avoid someone killing each other. to reach that point u dont need a referee. its the other way 'round u freak!
It's not a real fight. In a real fight with Su Dong Chen the video ends a lot faster, and lot more people have compound fractures. Don't fuck with him.
How do you know about master su? If you know about master Su and you approove his method that means you have done your research. Thank you for your comment.
Yes! He seriously has nothing to prove. As for MMAWARRIOR20's comment regarding muscle and size - I'm a caucasian male, 18, over 6ft and have been defeated by a Taiwanese female Shaolin expert before - technique and speed are the keys to success.
i never said skill didn't matter too i just meant size and power does play a factor. look at tim sylvia his technique sucks but he has a size advantage.
Please tell me more about master Su I know him personally and I cosider him outstanding. E-mail me info on him please. I can tell you that master Su is incredibly powerful. I met him in 2001. and he came to a seminar in miami last weekend.
Other videos of this master are very good. Where he performs form and shows application. But this is not good. Sorry to say that. But very unrealistic. Maybe he had too much connection with aikido guys in japan !
if you're 6'5 and have 350 pounds of muscle than you might be able to beat 3 ppl. because you can hit them one time and they would be srewed but they have to hit u a lot more to hurt u.if you're not very big and strong the best thing to do is run unless u got some magical death touch.
You should do a little more research I know master su personally and I know that if he hits me is going to feel like getting stabed with a knife. I have fought several bigger opponents in clubs. as a bouncer and master su makes me lood like a 6 Y/O sissy girl. It is so bad that I don't think I can survive the first few seconds.
kung fu is too staged for me. full contact is the best way to train. watch the early UFCs and you will see full contact fighters dominate martial artist that do light contact.
He's not trying to prove how hard he is - as an ex body guard of the Yakuza I don't think he's got anything to prove - it's simply a demo with some interesting techniques. Unlucky, you're wrong.
As always with demos, it really doesn't show anything. It's all an act, more comparable to dancing or performance art than to actual fighting. Beating three guys that are attacking you simultaneously is nearly impossible. Believing that you're capable of doing it, or convincing other people that they are, could be really dangerous.
Againts multiple opponents who would rush your ass and gang-beat you, I guess your only option would be to grab a human shield. Notice how the guy doesn't really beat them away but controls the spacing?
Martial arts obviously work or they would have died out. People would not have practised them for centuries if they were useless. About street fights- I don't think enlightened masters hang around outside clubs on friday nights getting tired and emotional.
Pretty good demo for trying to sign people up for your school. Thats about it. It strats off good but gets really weak towards the end. Just my opinion.
Being in competiti0ons with ppl at your Level means very Little . M. Su has picked apart HIGH level strikers AND Grapplers of many stripes . And hePromotes his Ideas by putting them on experienced ppl and asking how they Deal . I have seen a LOT of ppl that didnt "Believe" in him looking up at him from their Backs in short order .
You have no IDEA what M. Su's training looks like , you havent seen it . This isnt a Training Video , and hes not trying to Kill these guys , either . What you know from BS leaves MUCH to be desired .
If your training looks like that WarriorBoy then no you won't be able to take on 3 people. And those that have beaten 3 people didn't practice BS like this either.
No one? So I guess in the millions of years of man's history of fighting, scuffling, and conflicts, you've seen them all and know that no one has ever beaten 3 or more people in any type of physical confrontation? Debating with people like you really is pointless...
Yeah, right - no-one's EVER beaten three guys in a fight. *rolls eyes* A friend of mine got his ass kicked a few months ago - along with three of his mates (thats 4 against 1). He got his jaw and cheekbones broken... but that has nothing to do with reality I guess...
Good commercial - it has NOTHING to do with reality... 3 people will ALWAYS beat you up in such a situation, even if you are Crocop. The only chance is to hit one of them and run away...
What Ashe said - FWIW this is a guy who went from Taiwan to Japan, and was a bodyguard for the Yakuza. He can do this stuff for real (and is legendary for it). It's just a demo of movement and positioning.
Dude , When are three ppl going to come at you with a PLAN ? What planet do you live on ? You some sort of Proffesional Kidnap Victim or something ? LEOs and Psych Ward Orderlies are the opnly ppl that PLAN takedowns , and even then LEOS only at the Upper Echelons like SS or perhaps CIA . MOST ppl dont try to "Group Grapple" you in a fight , they try to bust your chops in .
Djimbo, you're talking to the wrong guy. People in self defense situations (IE robberies, etc) CERTAINLY plan things like muggings. I've worked in skip tracing, process service, and insurance investigation. I've had more then one person face up to me, I've had dogs sicced on me, I've been tased and maced.
Also, even if what you say is true (it isn't) - your argument still makes no sense as those guys aren't trying to "bust his chops" but are instead compliantly reaching for a one-handed grip every time.
I will say this guy definately does one thing right - once the excercise begins, he does a good job of keeping one opponent between himself and the other two, allthough, again, they weren't working to spread out and surround him. His sequence is very relient on each thing he tries working in a pre-set way his opponents play act...some of this stuff, ie the stop-kick that downs a guy, won't play every time against people that arent' your student.
Uhm, that's the point of keeping one in front of you. If a guy gets behind you get him in front. Holy crap!! What an idea!! And no, most of the time people don't have a plan other than bum rush and beat down. That's why it is possible to defend against.
Well hey go pick a fight with a well known martial artist and tell us the out come tough guy and no the local youth karate teacher doesnt count. Some people are so up themselves...
I 'pick fights' with martial artists on a regular basis - it's called competition, I've been to two in the last two months. I'm indiferent at it, neither best nor worst. Could I beat a "well known martial artist?" I don't know. I do know fame doesn't make you good, nor does being good make you famous by itself. A lot of sweat on the mat makes you good, and a lot of self promotion makes you famous.
Hey I'd be glad to pick a fight with a martial artist because it's a proven fact that in the streets a martial artist can't do shit all to defend themselves, it's because of the adrenalin rush.
Dude(heh), what are you talking about? Every true martial artist I have ever met has beaten the crap out of some ignorant street fighter(and most of them armed). You don't have to have an adrenaline rush to break a knee although no matter how calm you look everybody gets the rush when attacked.
So I don't really need any sort of lectures about the street from people that don't know, or about needing to turn off my TV and go outside (I don't own a working TV, BTW. I worked in broadcast for 3 years and I can scarcely stand TV programming. )
So if people try to slap him in the shoulder one at a time, he's cool? If three people attack him at the same time without even a rudimentary plan on how to restrain him, he's cool?
He show's a good sense of movement and angles. The video is clearly not designed to be another power fa jin video which we've all seen lots of times over and he can't nail his students all the time. Yes some of the students attack in poor ways but if you watch their movements you can see the unrehearsed manner. This guy studied under Wang Shu Jin, he know's his stuff...
Well , ots Training , man , you cant Disable your students every time you do something , and its a Drill designed to teach PART of Fighting , not all of it , you know ?
Some interesting movements. However, a good bagua fighter should pretty much disable an attacker with the first strike that connects. At least that's the way I was taught. One good strike from any of my teachers and I would be on the ground.
Gentleman: it is easy to miss how powerful master Su is. He is only playing with them. I know people better than me. that are scared of master su. I went fo one of his seminars and there was a guy. That knew him inreal life and he was telling us how many people fear him. It is scary how powerful he is.
So how come you know so much? It bothers me to see all the geniuses in the fu#*@ internet. The other day some idiot was pretending to know about martial arts like he was a fu$@#$ scholar. the guy was a clerk at a gas station. WTF makes him so knowledgeable. you idiots know everything uh? If you criticize master SU It makes you look very stupid.
A guy gets behind him and just stands there, instead of choking him. He would have been done.

Djimbe 5 years ago
so why doesnt he go and prove it in UFC then ?
kungfufreddy 4 years ago
Bafu :
You have no IDEA what M. Su's training looks like , you havent seen it . This isnt a Training Video , and hes not trying to Kill these guys , either . What you know from BS leaves MUCH to be desired .
Djimbe 5 years ago
If your training looks like that WarriorBoy then no you won't be able to take on 3 people. And those that have beaten 3 people didn't practice BS like this either.
BafuNation 5 years ago
No one? So I guess in the millions of years of man's history of fighting, scuffling, and conflicts, you've seen them all and know that no one has ever beaten 3 or more people in any type of physical confrontation? Debating with people like you really is pointless...
WarriorBoy 5 years ago
Yeah, right - no-one's EVER beaten three guys in a fight. *rolls eyes* A friend of mine got his ass kicked a few months ago - along with three of his mates (thats 4 against 1). He got his jaw and cheekbones broken... but that has nothing to do with reality I guess...
Finny1996 5 years ago
Good commercial - it has NOTHING to do with reality... 3 people will ALWAYS beat you up in such a situation, even if you are Crocop. The only chance is to hit one of them and run away...
m1979 5 years ago
umm sorry
cro cop would fuck just about anyone up
ive seen my valetudo instructor beat up 3 trained fighters before
in fact we train for mellee fighting full contact
kungfufreddy 4 years ago
What Ashe said - FWIW this is a guy who went from Taiwan to Japan, and was a bodyguard for the Yakuza. He can do this stuff for real (and is legendary for it). It's just a demo of movement and positioning.
Finny1996 5 years ago
if he was that shows nothing about his fighting skill
yakuza are gangs WITH GUNS !!!
and him being a criminal doesnt exactly put him high in my books not that he was high up there anyway

Watch less MMA , Go out Drinking more .
Djimbe 5 years ago
Djimbo, you're talking to the wrong guy. People in self defense situations (IE robberies, etc) CERTAINLY plan things like muggings. I've worked in skip tracing, process service, and insurance investigation. I've had more then one person face up to me, I've had dogs sicced on me, I've been tased and maced.
johnnycache 5 years ago
Also, even if what you say is true (it isn't) - your argument still makes no sense as those guys aren't trying to "bust his chops" but are instead compliantly reaching for a one-handed grip every time.
johnnycache 5 years ago
I will say this guy definately does one thing right - once the excercise begins, he does a good job of keeping one opponent between himself and the other two, allthough, again, they weren't working to spread out and surround him. His sequence is very relient on each thing he tries working in a pre-set way his opponents play act...some of this stuff, ie the stop-kick that downs a guy, won't play every time against people that arent' your student.
johnnycache 5 years ago
dude, it's demo, that's iboth parties are by neccesity cooperative in the interest of safety.
ashehiggs 5 years ago
Uhm, that's the point of keeping one in front of you. If a guy gets behind you get him in front. Holy crap!! What an idea!! And no, most of the time people don't have a plan other than bum rush and beat down. That's why it is possible to defend against.
ozthepowerful 5 years ago
Well hey go pick a fight with a well known martial artist and tell us the out come tough guy and no the local youth karate teacher doesnt count. Some people are so up themselves...
Negrodamus2000 5 years ago
I 'pick fights' with martial artists on a regular basis - it's called competition, I've been to two in the last two months. I'm indiferent at it, neither best nor worst. Could I beat a "well known martial artist?" I don't know. I do know fame doesn't make you good, nor does being good make you famous by itself. A lot of sweat on the mat makes you good, and a lot of self promotion makes you famous.
johnnycache 5 years ago
Hey I'd be glad to pick a fight with a martial artist because it's a proven fact that in the streets a martial artist can't do shit all to defend themselves, it's because of the adrenalin rush.
Dude1430 5 years ago
you have no idead how many times ive disproven that.
spurious 5 years ago
Dude(heh), what are you talking about? Every true martial artist I have ever met has beaten the crap out of some ignorant street fighter(and most of them armed). You don't have to have an adrenaline rush to break a knee although no matter how calm you look everybody gets the rush when attacked.
ozthepowerful 5 years ago
So I don't really need any sort of lectures about the street from people that don't know, or about needing to turn off my TV and go outside (I don't own a working TV, BTW. I worked in broadcast for 3 years and I can scarcely stand TV programming. )
johnnycache 5 years ago
So if people try to slap him in the shoulder one at a time, he's cool? If three people attack him at the same time without even a rudimentary plan on how to restrain him, he's cool?
johnnycache 5 years ago
He show's a good sense of movement and angles. The video is clearly not designed to be another power fa jin video which we've all seen lots of times over and he can't nail his students all the time. Yes some of the students attack in poor ways but if you watch their movements you can see the unrehearsed manner. This guy studied under Wang Shu Jin, he know's his stuff...
Xingyi21 5 years ago
Hmm, seems to fly in the face of reality doesn't it? And no, I'm not wrestling at Randy's level but I think I'd be okay in that scenario.
Askarijj 5 years ago
Well , ots Training , man , you cant Disable your students every time you do something , and its a Drill designed to teach PART of Fighting , not all of it , you know ?
Djimbe 5 years ago

If you criticize master SU It makes you look very stupid.
asslaslades 4 years ago
wow i really liked the beginning where he blocked the two attackers with the third.
im sick of watching 2v1 tkd matches where they have no strategy and stay in between the fighters.
