If Hendrix, Vaughn, Lee, Beck, Page, Satriani, Gilbert, Collins & Clapton made a compilation of their best ever solos it would sit somewhere just below one of Rory's average efforts
Did Rory have a problem with alcohol? Not to be stereotypical - I'm of Irish descent myself - but merely asking because of his liver problems at a relatively young age.
@bornwithoutwarning yeah a little bit ;)..he battled alcohol his whole life...and agree it's not an irish thing..scottish background myself so not an angel but there's enough ppl from all backgrounds that like to drink...ask any hispanic in my neighborhood...
@bornwithoutwarning yep...actually wrote a song named "too much alcohol"..nothing to do with the Irish...it's not like the Aussies, Russians. Scots, Germans, Italians, Mexicans, Japanese.....drink?
@Dukabor He didn't write that. An American bluesman named JB Hutto did. From what I've learned, it was alcohol combined with numerous precriptions that spelled the end for his liver. It wasn't booze alone, it was the lethal combination that did the damage.
It's amazin i thought i knew my music never heard of Gallagher until i watched a interview with Gary Moore tryin to get Rory inducted into rok and roll hall of fame this cat is amazin, never heard the likes of him utterly fantastic
It doesn't matter what mood I am in, every time I listen to Rory he knows how to touch me and I feel moved deep in my heart. I can't think of other guitarispalyer that does for me.That is what a great musician does, isn't it? I am so glad I have seen him life, even it was only once but what a memory. It was 1974 in Rotterdam during the oilcrisis. People weren't allowed to drive a car on sundays to spare oil, and he played that night until the first trains left the station in the morning.
@HerthaGladbach we all love Rory, and we all have great memories of him and the legacy he left us. I was lucky to see him in Rotterdam long time ago. An experience of a lifetime. It was during the oilcrisis and in Holland we had sundays where ppl were not allowed to drive their cars. Rory played at a saterdaynight for over 3 and a half hour just until the first trains were leaving the stations so people wouldnot have to wait in the cold, what a guy and what a memory i will never forget it..
Du hast ja vollkommen Recht und deshalb antworte ich im Namen aller, die Ihn super finden aber es nicht geschrieben haben: Er war einer der besten die es gab und heute gibt es leider keinen gleichwertigen
I´ve heared and seen so many combos and famous guitarplayers, but never such a talented, sensitive and extraordinary artist like Rory. I had the luck to see him 3 times in Böblingen (78,79,82). You could feel the perfect harmony between him and his strato. Whenever I hear this song in the last 30 years, I was crying. Rory, we miss you and yout talent.
you must be a very talented guitar player and I hope, you will never give up to improve yourself, so oneday you are going to achieve something more than the hall of fame.
before rory i had never used the pitch harmonics so often, and since then feeling/emotion comes over technique for me, so i play easygoing :)) you just don't need tapping 10 notes in a second for "good playing", look at Rory ! Hail !
HIs band in the Irish tour 74 was more inspired... but that's just me. I also like Les Binks on Unleashed in the East (Judas Priest) better than the other JP's drummers.
Rocker53zero,thank you and yes he rocked me to my core! You know I love this man and who was it said "only the good die young!" Billy Joel ?? RIP Rory you are still missed xxoo
