Kurt was'nt really playing the giutar in a normal way,rather He was extending the sonic range of the electric instrument.Hendrix did much the same thing,even Lou Reed was into the "noise" that the electric guitar can produce.
Some people think that "good guitar playing" is about doing fast arpeggios and all that circus. They can't understand a simple expression of a personality on the instrument. Good music is not about skills but about personality, emotions and expression.

@LukeGriffths121 Hahaha you're glad you're not me, that's cool. Anyway, there IS a lot of chance music in Kurt's playing (simply put: hitting random notes). What I was sort of trying to get at is that we don't know whether Kurt intended to hit the notes he did because well we're not him. He may have intended to hit specific notes and he may have intended to be completely random but it was probably a medium between the two. I never actually bagged Kurt I really love Nirvana and Kurt Kobain.
