im mexican and i love radiohead and patrice, but how does patrice explain why i love radiohead?and truth be told creep is not even in their top 30 best songs.
@katkal3 Mate, you're trying way too hard. Just because Pitchfork told you Pablo Honey is no good (and it isn't as good as say your Kid As or OK Computers) doesn't mean Creep isn't among their "30 best songs"--it easily is.
@GalaxyHop it's not really a white thing cuz here in mexico creep is their most popular song and is one of those tunes that most cover bands have in their set list.I mean it's a great song, a little repetitious, but great nonetheless but theyve grown so much since then.My favorite cd's are hail to the thief and in rainbows.By the way, who's pitchfork?
To clarify, there's an understanding there that that hunger itself is worthwhile. That it is important. That people get it, and consider it a good thing. People relate to it and all act like it's okay. But they're not actively thinking it is right because not eating is the opposite of obesity. I just think in that second paragraph you're forcing associations (probably because your brain wants to make a "white counterbalance" to your idea that "black music" is about arrogance).
To make an analogy... have you ever known, maybe on Thanksgiving, that a great meal is coming soon, and because of that a feeling of hunger you have is deemed a good thing? The feeling of being hungry (and putting off consumption at that moment) feels good? I think it feels good on a subconscious level, because you feel that others feel your hunger as well, and you all share in this anticipation, this wanting of food, and there's an understanding there. It doesn't feel good 'cuz obesity is bad.
White people are more fond of self-deprecating music than black people are. Well, a LOT more fond of it. Self-deprecating music is pretty much absent from black culture.
We're fond of it because it's the antithesis of arrogance, and most people hate arrogance.
We relate to the song because even if we're not a depressed and suicidal, sometimes we feel inadequate and feel like we have a multitude of flaws that we'll never shed.
@ninjajesus81 I didn't mean I didn't agree that people don't like arrogance, I just don't think the belief that arrogance is a negative treat contributes to "white people's" "thing" for the song creep. I think your following paragraph is pretty on point though.
@mattsemail82 Well if people don't like arrogance, then wouldn't that mean they like the opposite, which I guess would be humility? Maybe you're right. But I tend to like self-deprecating music. I hate arrogance, and that's why I can't stand rap. All they do is talk about how amazing they are. Why would I want to listen to that?
Also, I like to listen to music made by actual musicians who know music.
Anyway, I'm glad you agree with at least part of what I said.
Patrice was a funny guy, but his act was too dependent on matters of race- specifically, making fun of white people. Same goes for most black comedians. We get it. White people are different from black people. Now can you please talk about something else?
@kikomiko1 Patrice actually had a lot of material on relationships that is pretty hilarious, and his racial comedy wasnt exclusive to blacks and whites. But i will concede that there was quite a bit of it, although his delivery makes it funny to me where many black comedians fall short.
whites have always been sad that they couldn't be what they wanted to be, a rich self hating jew. so whites pick on blacks to make themselves feel better, and dream of being jews at night.
Neil Young is awesome and so is Public Enemy or Blackalicious. All race crap aside we'd all be better off listening to music from other cultures and being more open minded and empathetic, good call Patrice, we'll all miss you.
I just laughed myself into a sob, so so sad Patrice is gone. How may times do artists die and people lament "all the great work they would have done had they lived"? I can't think of anyone that is more true of than Patrice. Even John Lennon or Jimi Hendrix could have eventually put out crappy albums had they lived, I know Patrice would have continued to be hilarious and thought provoking for many years. I am so pissed he's gone!
Don't see what Patrice dying has to do with Dane, other than we got a hilarious podcast out of it when Dane did the Patrice Tribute Podcast with Bobby Kelly. I'm not a huge fan of Dane's stand up, but he's pretty hilarious when riffing with Bawby.
i think its good that people can laugh at each others ways.thats what makes us different.and thats how it should be.fuck political correctness.fuck marxist communism.lets have a fucking good laugh.
I'm surprised he wasn't saying anything about that blonde haired white chick next to him LOL she is lookin' pretty good and we all know he can't ignore that "titty meat" as he so eloquently put it
Patrice forgot to take into consideration the white people that have to go well out of their way to be different. "I think Creep is actually one of Radiohead's weaker songs, I much prefer their work on OK Computer and The Bends blah blah blah" (For examples, see older comments on this video)
@DeliciousPoop Nope. Nothing they do I've liked. They opened for a band I was into at the time (Belly) that "Creep" was the single that was out ... Gut-wrenchingly bland.
Fu$%ing genius.Even in the midst of ass kissing radio hacks he could make comedy gold that wasn't just funny but insightful. He was always on.R.I.P. big man.
@swasser89 we were lucky to have him for as long as we did...from his stand-up to his O&A appearances to his web stuff to his Comedy Specials, he was pure genius. offensive without offending, a brutally honest. And to the people that think you didn't "know" him because you never met him? You're wrong. You DID know him through his art. He was a completely open book. #RipPatrice #LoveForPatrice
How the hell did he know that the "chunka" sound in creep does something to my soul?
I've never been sadder about a celebrity's death. Just think of all the funny shit we're missing out on because this big, beautiful spirit is no longer in the world. RIP Patrice...
How can he be so dead on??? I love creep and I love that part he's talking of....what an amazing mind he had.....in this clip he knew more about something that I felt then I even knew.
I said this before he died, and I will say it long into the future: Patrice dropped pearls of wisdom everywhere he went. Everything he says is hilarious, but more than hilarious it's true.
lmao hilarious and true! I'm half white/half black. There's that side of me that is moved to pieces by Creep but then there's that other side that wants to blast Wu Tang Clan!
@dssd619 wow its good to see other people who trash Dane Cook...even back when everybody around me, all my friends..."Dude, Dane Cook is awesome", "how can you not like Dane Cook?" Didnt like his act from the fist time I saw it. Fuck Dane Cook...RIP Patrice, a true comedian and great thinker!
@Messenger33 I hate these kids who think they're too wise for dane cook. Can't we just enjoy MULTIPLE funny comedians? Instead of being hipsters about fucking comedy.
@SleepingAtTheMovies Not to mention that Patrice liked Dane more than he would like any of these hipster douches who think they're being edgy by bashing him.
Creep is covered in the style of a hymn sung by the female choir Scala & Kolacny Brothers (with the original lyrics) and plays for the credits of the film "Love Like Poison" (French), as well as in the trailer for The Social Network. It was also covered, amongst many others, by Korn (acoustic and live on MTV Unplugged: Korn), Collide, the Pretenders, Tom Ugly, Anberlin, Moby, Richard Cheese, Ingrid Michaelson, Eliza Lumly, Karen Souza, Damian Rice and Scarling.
So sad to hear Patrice died earlier today, the whole comedy world and beyond (He was a WWE writer too for a while) mourns the loss of a giant and inspiration to all, RIP!
Apparently another thing white people need to do is fill their radio show with fake laughter. (not saying Patrice isn't funny, it's endemic of all 'morning shows.')
Never was a fan of creep. I get where Patrice is coming from to an extent. For me, I feel theres a difference between emotional music and emo music. Emotional music tends to move me whereas emo music makes me want to slap the singer and tell them "Man up you whiny little bitch". Thats just my opinion though.

@21childgod we aren't all equal, not even within our own races are we all equal. there are black people who love creep and there are white people who love creep, the social consciousness of white people as a whole better identifies with the song, just like madeas family reunion taps into the black social consciousness better. openly talking about race especially through humor helps us get along as opposed to ignoring the OBVIOUS differences.
i dont get why Creep gets so much attention. Radiohead makes some of the greatest music out there, Kid A, Ok Computer, In Rainbows, etc, were some of the best albums ever made and yet people only seem to associate Radiohead with creep. Practice O'neil makes a valid point, creep is very overplayed and over rated. i'm not saying the song is bad, i'm just saying that it sucks that Radiohead makes all this amazing, groundbreaking music and the only attention they get is through creep
@FANCYBREADmusic Creep has mass appeal. It doesn't make it a better song, it just makes it more appealing to more people, which is why it gets so much attention. The King of Limbs was great, but it definitely doesn't have mass appeal.
@thedarksideofbetty does it hurt you that nobody agrees with you, no matter how many different videos you post the same comment. take a hint shit dick
Creep has always been my least favorite Radiohead song because the lyrics are so overly self-pitying and a little immature which isn't like their other stuff at all.
This is fucking hilarious, but I hate that song.

Creep has always been my least favorite Radiohead song because the lyrics are so overly self-pitying and a little immature which isn't like their other stuff at all.
