Yes, I saw this on TV in New Zealand (show- 20/20) . Lucky the laws in NZ have changed and now you need to obtain a licence for a primate to be a pet and authorities/vets inspect monthly to ensure that infact your primates are in a safe, happy environment. It is hard to obtain a licence in NZ thankfully.

A real shame this Chimp had to be killed. If people didn't have large primates as pets in the first place, this wouldn't have happened. Chimps are wild, and therefore should not be interacting with humans. This Chimp did not deserve to die for what It did as that is their natural nature, but I can see why it needed to be killed as otherwise it would have killed her. Thankfully, now in New Zealand you need a special licence to have primates as pets and there must be a very good reason to obtain.

Yes, I saw this on TV in New Zealand (show- 20/20) . Lucky the laws in NZ have changed and now you need to obtain a licence for a primate to be a pet and authorities/vets inspect monthly to ensure that infact your primates are in a safe, happy environment. It is hard to obtain a licence in NZ thankfully.

I'm watching the Animal Planet right now on this. You can't really blame the dispatcher because what did he do? The owner of the chimp knew that the chimp bit a person before the incident and was taken away. The owner knew that he wasn't eat and what not. These are warning signs that he isn't healthy and should be a danger. Now a person's life is destroyed because of this! She should be in life for jail.
