This game would have been better if it had been made with today's gaming technology; it tried a lot of things that were well beyond the technological scope of the time. The PS2 simply could not handle the creative ambition of the makers of this game. Now, Psi Ops would be awesome as a 360 game. Too bad it did poorly sales wise.

60's rock = anger, but optimism for the future, that is what the music sounded like to me when I heard some of it.

70's rock = "growing up."

80's rock = "its good to be an american again."

90's rock = "anger and sadness, the world sucks."

this new rock though? Its just pure anger; I find that somewhat disturbing.

Back in the 90's, heavy metal was a combination of rage and sadness, however one thing that worries me about this new kind of metal is that this music is just pure rage. Its just NOTHING BUT rage; what the hell are the schools doing to teens these days?

The way the guitar and drum worked together there for example, that never existed when we were kids (in the 90's). It didn't exist in the 80's or 70's either; I have never heard that combination, in metal of the 90's, at least not put together that way.

New metal isn't shitty; its just different. The purpose of metal is to speak to intense rage, and, what can I say, today's teens have a different kind of anger.

so for them, the mustical notes in different instruments need to be put together differently. Its not just about this guitarrist, or this drummer, a band needs to know how to "put it together."

Again that bit between 2:01 - and 2:11, at no point in my heavy metal listening career in the 90's, and I have listened to A LOT of metal, did I ever hear anything even ressembling that. This IS different, but you need to listen to it carefully to notice the differences.

this song is a good example of contemporary heavy metal, while Pantera's "Cemetery Gates (Demon Knight edit)" is a good example of Metal from the 90's. It DOES appear to sound the same at first until you listen for subtleties with how the instruments work together.

I don't care what older adults says; this is vastly different from the stuff I listened to as a kid.

I mean, in old metal, the drums were "silenced" by the guitars, in this new metal, the guitar notes seem to work in tune with the drums, its almost as if the guitarrists are "hitting" the drums, right along with the drummers.

I can't quite explain it, but that IS the subtle difference, you need to listen carefully to notice it.

wait a minute; I didn't hear it before but I hear it now, I think I understand why 90's teens, who are all grown adults in their late 20's or early 30's now, aren't into this "new rock;"

There IS a difference, however its subtle and hard to catch. Ninteteen nineties metal was more guitar based, and it had more "stringing," that is that "finger slide" on the strings. This new metal, focuses more on base drumming and it just changes the whole sound.

I doubt it. They were sued for plagarizing another story someone wrote (I believe the plaintiff won), and I am pretty sure the game bombed. So I highly doubt they will make another Psi-Ops game.

Wish they did though. It was pretty fun. Maybe they can write a new story with the same game mechanics as Psi-Ops but a new story and new graphics (maybe new powers too).
