Wow, I've never seen Chiyo footage this early before - the guy was amazing, the 2nd most successful rikishi ever behind Taiho (to this day) AFAIK.

Chiyo was all muscle and no fat in those days, but very exciting to watch. He often beat people who weighed twice as much. I met him in San Jose, California around this time (1978) at an exhibition of Sumo.

千代の富士、一瞬もろ差しになった場面で観客が「おー！」って感じでざわついてますね。この後、すぐに吊られて「あ～やっぱり」という反応ですが。しかし、今これを見ると千代の富士、この頃から力強い相撲とってましたね。
