yeah thats the video i was looking for :-) i am learning this song atm. but does also another video exist in which tommy explains the next part ? i've seen that you've uploaded part 2, but there tommy only explains the end harmonics :-( i really need the explaining part which would come after 1:20 in this video. thx 4 help
thanx tommy man youve solved alot of puzzles for me with your givin it away to keep it attitude theres alot of cats out there who couldnt care less if your struggling with "THeir" song. youve inspired me for years
His right hand technique is always incredible - percussive hybrid pick/fingerstyle - even slowed down and explained I am left with mouth hanging open in disbelief at TE's talent! - such a gift and such a humble spirit that wants to share his gift with the world.
Your little finger is as long as my leg. One of my problems is that my little finger is only 2/3s the size of the next finger ... makes for a lot of uncomfortable stretching.
Anyway, this is one of my favourite tunes. Thanks for making it.
I don't think that's correct, I believe in this tune, I don't know if there are exceptions in Tommy's other songs, but I think in this song Tommy didn't use his pinky at all.
When he has to play multiple notes on a beat, he uses his pick to strum the 3rd to the 6th string, and his middle finger to pluck the 2nd string, and his ring finger to the 1st string.

I think it's Bb/A7 - that is A7 with Bb in the the bass. Bb on the A string, E on the D, open G, C# on the B string, open high E. James Taylor uses that chord a lot too. It's a nice 'inbetween' chord, to give that feeling of anticipation.
How tall is Tommy cos his hands are huge. I don't care what anyone says that goes a long way towards his style and his level of clean playing. The rest comes from his musical genius and years of hard graft :-)
this is a great vid... unfortunately i have neither the god-given talent, or mile-long hands of the man so i fear it''s beyond me but fook, i can watch him all day
I love all the little helpful clips here on youtube. Where else can you get lessons from the actual artist? :) I posted what i learned as a video response
A#˚7, or Bb˚7 same thing. It is a fully diminished chord. It is built with a root, minor third, diminished fifth, and a diminished 7th. You can also look at it as four minor thirds stacked on each other(the E is repeated).
You want the BEST instructional video to learn this song go to Scott Tsai's Youtube vids,...he's by far the most thorough, slowed down, in our face videos on "Tommy Tunes", he's so good he played with Tommy backstage before his concert in Kentucky. Check it out, the kid's great! Tommy's invited him to play onstage with him during his New Jersey concert, how good is that?
i learned this without a thumbpick or pick. i just copied what i saw off the other video of angelina (the one on korean tv) and used my thumb. i hardly ever use a pick, only for traditional songs or the like. still its a BRILLIANT song
thanks for the answer. And are there tabs for "Angelina" and "Guitar Boogie" in this magazine? If so could you scan them and upload somewhere or send it to me? Thanks in advance!
Ah. Now I see what you mean. It wasn't in the magazine, i'm afraid. I think Tommy's way of teaching is to give you techniques and talk about what he's doing, then leave you to work it out for the whole song.
imagine if he was your teacher O_O

Yeah they're the same without context but in a flat key, you would use the Bbdim7 and vice versa.
