  • im 16 years old and i have the same problem my colon would just beat and it would hurt it almost feels like your colon is getting so inflamed and this does not happen to me now only when im in a flare up. i have had colitis (pancolitis) for almost 1 year this november will be 2 years and im considering surgery but im scared of the complications but these videos help because its nice to see that your doing well after surgery, and im more confident about it.

  • The reason I posted the message below is so people don't have to worry for no reason. When you're in remission, your colon is not ''out to get you'', try to enjoy the moment rather than worry endlessly. I hope I've put your mind at ease about this subject.

  • I don't mean to sound like a prick but this beat in your abdomen is caused by a large artery leading directly from your heart to your legs. It's the largest artery in the body so that's why it's so noticeable when it beats. It runs almost through the middle of your abdomen and can sometimes be felt and seen in thin people. I don't have UC and I can feel this beat when I lie down. The veins that supply your colon blood do so more slowly and smoothly so it should not be in sync with your heart.

  • @helgih580 You're right about the vein, and I guess it's not technically right to say the colon itself is throbbing. But believe me, there are abnormal movements that happen in the abdomen even when colitis is in remission. It's not that the bowels are out to get anybody, but they are sick and diseased, and remission doesn't mean the disease is cured. Nobody worries needlessly about this, but it is important to pay attention to what the bowels are doing even in remission.

  • i too have this throbbing...feels like your heart is in your stomach...UC sux

  • omg!!! i have this throbbing as well... I even asked my boyfriend if he had ever felt his heart beat in his stomach...the answer was a big NO! This disease really sucks. I am 33 years old and have had flair ups for a few years now.

  • @Amydalilangel

I am 20 yrs. old and I have had the same problem. I know something is wrong bc my family has a bad history of series of medical conditions. It paranoids me a little.

Or it could be from the alcohol i drink but it would have to damage my liver or kidneys first though... so it confuses me a little...
