I suggest Judas Priest, this will be their last tour, I've seen them three times. Rob Halford has an amazing range and should be credited more often. Plus, the shows are always really visually stimulating.
Okay I know I am VERY late with this comment considering the summer is pretty much over :P...I saw you like Akona, they'll be hitting the US in several cities so look out for them, they are a huge and crazy live force!
I am gonna and have seen David Bazan, Bright Eyes, Iron & Wine,The Avett Bros, The Pixies, The Roots this summer & I would suggets you see anyone who you like : )
I really dont go to concert never been would onday. Bit you look ar you aaahhhhhh yorhare is pretty in red . . Got skype. ? Ooouuu, i look forward to the Phantom of the Opera one! :). As far as concerts go, Kamelot is doing a north american tour and Simone from Epica will be joining them a brief period of time! Luckily, she'll be there at the Toronto show, so i'm suuupper excited. Only thing is, that show is in early September, so technically, it's not summer anymore LOL.
@MakingTheMetalBand Please tell me it is lithium!!!! Realy, I always wanna ask you to make a sing+ piano cover of this music, but i was sure you hated evanescence...
@MakingTheMetalBand So, it isn't Lithium ): . Not that i love the song, but since i watched the acoustic live version of it (watch?v=nxEgNSkh4ZA), thinking it was a cover of the nirvana song, haha, I though it would be a perfect song for you to make a cover of. But nevermind.
And, btw, what is the evanescence song you're trying out?
You should upload the 'scratch tracks' you said were a bit on the experimental side of things, would be nice to hear them, not too sure what's goin on w/ Bands this summer, I haven't been to a legit GIG in awhile myself, Opeth is comin down here in October, would be killer to see them LIVE, congrats on 1K subs, ltrz & keeps it metal!
Well, I AM going to the Summer Slaughter tour this summer (have gone to the past several.) As far as bands that are good live, too many to list and it all depends on your tastes. I am going to be seeing Opeth with Katatonia in October (will be seeing Opeth for the first time) I've seen SO many good bands live. I did got to the Agonist and Epica show and both of them put on a very good live show.
So far I've got Kamelot on my list for September. Even with Fabio Lion as lead vocalist, he can do a pretty mean Roy Khan.
Also Opeth is a pretty good band live too. A lot of feeling in them. And of course, if Epica decides to come back anytime soon, would be seeing them again as well.
Cool thing about having a fairly well-known band in the support slot is that they often hang around at the bar during the headliner's set, so there's a decent chance you might get to talk to them for a bit.
Don't think I'll be able to go to many concerts this summer (moving back east and starting grad school), but for me the best concerts are always the ones where there's two (or more) bands I really like on the bill. I drove three hours or so to see Epica/Scar Symmetry last Nov. Also Arch Enemy/Dark Tranquillity a few years ago. In Flames puts on a good live show, even though I think their music has suffered recently. Also, any Opeth show, I'll at least make a reasonable effort to attend.
So far I've been to FortaRock Festival. Must see from there are: Kvelertak, Valient Thorr, Gojira, Triptykon, Dark Tranquility, Sacred Reich and Arch Enemy.
If you ever get the opportunity to see them, go see Pain of Salvation. Amazing prog metal band with the best vocalist I've ever heard. Incredible live. Their music is incredibly varied and creative, so you're sure to find something you like.
Here's a few links to some of their best live performances:
I'm going to Wacken Open Air like Astillion :) The atmosphere there is just incredible! So many people from all over the world and every year fantastic bands :) So if you got the chance to come to Germany for this, take it ;)
No idea about concerts in America but my concert schedule in Germany will be pretty full. i personally love seeing Amorphis, ReVamp (hope Floor will be okay again soon), Kamelot, Arch Enemy, Machine Head and Epica live :)
In exactly 1 week I'll be on my way to Wacken Open Air in Germany to see among others Iced Earth, Kreator, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Avantasia, Mayhem, Morbid Angel, Sepultura, Sirenia, Visions of Atlantis, Sodom and many more. Best festival I've been to. This will be my fifth time.
I don't know about festival and concerts in America. But if you get the chance to see Iced Earth, Kreator or Ministry, do that. Those are my top 3. Sadly Ministry has quit. But maybe they'll come back. I hope so.
Just to let you know I' m mainly a power metal listener and I'm located in Argentina, so most bands I will write down. Anyway if they are touring in your area. you MUST GO to:
Megadeth + Stratovarius (7 Sinners Tour)
Judas Priest + Whitesnakes
Sonata Arctica
Angra
I do not consider it metal, but System of a Down has reunited a few months ago and is touring as well.
PS: Nice singing. I' m a subscriber and I love the way you sing and how gorgeous you are. =)
I saw Kamelot last year at ProgPower, and they were very cool. They're playing in Springfield at the Jaxx on August 27. The Jaxx is not the best venue in the world, but it works...saw Epica there last year, I think it was.
@MakingTheMetalBand Also, the Rockstar Mayhem Tour Thingy is gonna be in Virginia a couple of times...once near you in Bristow, and once down here in VA Beach. It'll be my third time seeing Megadeth and Trivium, and they don't disappoint.
@CobraJones ah great info. I have also seen Trivium three times now and while I don't listen to their music in my spare time, I like their shows. Great energy.
@MakingTheMetalBand no the album isn't out yet, but the single must come out in August? (not sure), maybe they'll start touring earlier then... can't wait for their new music!
