    A gaseous space dick appears?

  • I believe that when we leave a place a part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in these halls, when it is quiet and just listen. After a while you will hear the echoes of all of our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone, our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit that the part of me that going will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

  • G'kar, doc, and Zack, rest in peace:)

  • you can't use television to tell epic stories anymore; overcrowded with reality shows and teen drama and other stuff that kills your brain cells

however, you can use free2play games to tell interactive stories in an analogous way mass effect does

  • Its sad to think we'll never see J'kar again, always loved him. The never finished Crusade or the rangers spin off, and due to lack of support they are not going to make any more lost tails either, really sucks

  • Babylon 5 should be made into a movie. If Star Trek and The X-Files are big screen worthy than why not one of the best sci-fi series ever made and winner of two Hugo awards back to back should get the feature film treatment. They should make the movie the same way that Peter Jackson did with Lord Of The Rings and with the special effects we have today it will be mind blowing.

  • @brunoman17 Your kidding right? There are already six movies.

  • @kakashiotaku42 A real movie on the big screen, not some movie made for cable tv or straight to dvd. Babylon 5 deserves to be made into a big budget feature film.

  • @brunoman17

It does seem like a lot of weird stuff gets a big budget film with all the resources and everything.

Still I'm not sure how it would work.

Would a re-imagining ever work or just drive us all insane?

  • @Usul573

I'd love to see some kind of continuation, but I'm entirely against a re-imagining of Babylon 5. The only problem with the original series is it's dated production values. But it's the story that matters, not super awesome imax cg special effect shots of ships.

The story, the tone, and acting is already perfect. I don't think there is a single character on B5 I could tolerate being recast. Each actor owns their role in B5.

  • @Usul573 Babylon 5 doesn't need any re-imagining because the myth of Babylon 5 is great as it is, but if they do decide to make the movie, I think they should only concentrate on the rise and fall of Londo Mollari, the Shadow war, and the mission to bring down President Clark. I also like to see the story arc of Commander Jeffrey Sinclair the way it was originally intended.

  • @brunoman17 Agreed- B5 is now legend and should remain as such.

To add with your other comments. I've always hoped for a B5 movie based on the Psi Corps. We've knew there was always something brewing with them, but never came to fruition in the series. It would be great to see this come to light in a movie. However, knowing how strong the corps is, I'm sure some of the scenes of a Psi war would be somewhat graphic. Still, it would be a great storyline.

  • Does anyone know if this an actual piece of music or was it just made for this little scene? I want it, even if it is on TLT soundtrack I would buy it.

  • I can't believe that they are remaking B5. JMS spoke about it at comicon. It just won't be the same without the original actors, some of which have passed beyond the vale.

  • @thatguywiththeegg No, they are NOT remaking B5.

  • Imagine how even more awesome the series would be if they went back and updated all of the effects with those like in Lost Tales. Powerful stuff here!

  • @gsaum What would be nice is if they would put your concept to work for the never finished B5 Crusade. Oh how I wish they would finish that series.

  • No lyta... sad face emo-con...

  • i dont get it, it shows Kosh, Dr. franklin,mr garabaldi lennier, delen vir and londo realy all it was,was Presidant sheridan and captin lochly

  • @Niytiy It shows the characters, even though the series name and place is set on Babylon 5 only for the reason that the station was nothing more than a stage - a place where the STORIES of the characters could be told.

Think of it in terms of star trek and the 'Enterprise' being the stage for captain Kirk and Spock etc, if that helps you.

  • @Niytiy It demonstates that their full story is yet to be told.

  • @TechnomancerMorhion Really though, can *anyone's* full story be told? I mean, at least for fiction, short of killing everyone off at the end, there's always the implication that the characters'll keep living their lives even after their show or novel ends...

  • why did the ship explode

  • I WILL sell both of my testicles to have this show remastered and released in its' entirety on Blu-ray!

The finest Sci-Fi show ever created! Ask anyone who has seen it, 9 out of 10 of them will not dispute that claim. Long Live JMS!

  • @Fuzzyfoot88

A remake of the show is in progress, for better and more stunning graphics and effects. The first series are planned for spring 2012. Hope it will really happen.

  • @ZeddBG Where is your intel coming from? o.O

  • @ZeddBG I would like to know too.

  • @Jings0b sorry I read that on some site and it was fake news

I am a huge fan of Babylon 5 and really was hoping it is true, but it is not

  • Am I the only pussy that cant hold back his tears when Andreas Katsulas starts his monologue? =(

  • @hcvang Definitely not... both this and Sleeping in Light has me in tears every time.

  • ....stunning...just reduces me to tears everytime!!

  • A beautiful opening by Andreas Katsulas as G'Kar, a poetry line he spoken near the end of the 5th season. Rest in Peace Andreas Katsulas & Richard Biggs.

  • Best.Intro.EVER!

  • Heh, somehow after 0:50 the sequence makes me imagine a Babylon 5 MMO, in a selection screen where you'd be choosing which race you want to play as (except maybe for the vorlons..) Oh, if something like that only existed.. I'd be all over it. :)

  • @sabre517 hell, if they can do a Doctor Who one (i mean that's pretty insane, it'll be nothing like Doctor Who) they could do a B5 one... but I'd rather have a new TV show or a few DVD films, please... games are fine, but I want more live action literature.

  • @sabre517 Just imagine: "Starcraft - B5 edition". Or even better, TWO games; a "Third Age" edition, set during the time of the show, where you could pick races like the humans, Mminbari, Centauri, or Narn, and a "First Ones" edition, set millions of years ago, where you could pick the Vorlons, Shadows, or one of the other old races.

  • You people are all retarded to think that it was anyone else BUT Vir standing behind Londo.

  • how come I never heard about this before??? I'm one to know about stuff like this long before it's announced

  • You know if they could redo this and use acutual models with CG... it would be incredible. It would do this show so much justice... This really was a brilliant show, and so well written. So well written.

  • I stand with those who were moved by G'Kar's poetic narration. He was truly a master actor, and will be missed.

And I also think that that is Vir behind Londo. It doesn't make sense for it to be anyone else, and it looks just like Vir to me.

  • Where the hell was Vir at 0.59? If it had a nobody like lord Refa with Londo why the hell not the best Centari, Vir Cotto?

  • @rehtep69 Wait, what? That looked like Vir at 0:59 to me. O_o

  • @giantrobots1122

either my eyes are about to give out or the Centauri to the right of Londo is lord Reefa. It doesn't look like Vir to me.

  • @rehtep69 I dunno if its because the dude at 0:59 is smiling, but He looks like Vir to me. Damn man, now i'm confused.

  • @rehtep69

I agree it does resemble lord Reefa but as giantrobots1122 said maybe it's because he is smiling?

  • Long Live the NARN REGIME!

  • Long Live the CENTAURI REPUBLIC!

  • viewer #96k.

  • This is the original head-banging music! It's thunderous sound is uncontainable!

  • Powerful music by Christopher Franke. Bad-ass indeed!

  • G'Kar's poetry made me want to cry... ^_^

  • @TryfanL me too T_T

  • @TryfanL Especially knowing that Andreas Katsulas is no longer among us....

  • The Lost Tales may have sucked, but the intro just dazzles me every time. I recall the first time I watched it I shouted "oh crap, they brought back Chris! YES!"

  • I wish The Memory of Shadows had been made, or at least Crusade was able to finish its first season. That would have shown some light on a few things.

  • Well in the UK on channel FX they ran all the old series in their original state and just finished playing all the series and ending it by showing all the movies, usually when that happens over here they plan on bringing it back, even with the actors that play G'kar and franklin passed away there's so much of the B5 series that can be done, like for example the telepath wars/ Earth breaking away from the alliance/Earth got turned back into a pre-space faring civilization

  • @ProssayTrue, but the Psycor war was already documented in a book JMS later did, also as with Mollari and the fall of Centauri Prime and even with Susan and Marcus. I appreciate those more for only being in books and not made into movies or "movie-sodes"

  • @gribae i'm not a book fan, plus i don't have time in the day to sit and read books for hours, i would rather that they'd made the fall of centauri prime in the series before sheridan's goodbye, but they can still make it an 2hr special episode

  • @Prossay They sound intereesting, could you please give the names of the books? I am especially intrigued by the devolution to a pre-space faring society story. How did it happen?

  • @rehtep69 i have no clue sorry i don't buy the books, i think you wanted to ask gribae that question

  • wish that more episodes could have been made. no gkar no doctor, that was too soon. still like b5 more than other shows.

  • I love this intro, but I always think that Ivanova and Zack should have been in it, too.

  • It amazes me how companies will fund series after series of crap shows and yet classics like Babylon 5 get 5 seasons..create a great universe with fantastic characters and they wont fund any new product.

  • I believe they should redo B5, same overall story, but more darker and better CGI

  • I would prefer a remastered blu-ray release of the original.

Clean up the print, maybe update the cgi - but keep it the same......no major design changes etc.

  • yeah kind of like what they did with the TOS star trek. keep the live action footage but update the CG.

  • exactly

  • I agree. There's just thing I'd really love to see happen if that happened. I'd want to see Ivanova come back if she didn't die in season 4. I haven't seen the whole sereis so.

  • Ivy didn't die in Season 4.

  • Ivanova didn't die; she was just written out: She became commander of brand new Warlock-class destroyer called Titans. In that last episode (Season 5, episode 22) you can see her 20 years after main events. She's general then.

  • Darker? One of the main reoccurring characters gets beheaded and put on a pike. Another is literally torn apart by those he oppressed. You've got one race that literally kills itself due to ignorance, another that is enslaved by their enemies, plus the Vorlons and Shadows running around destroying whole planets/civilizations. That's not dark?

  • Yeah, Earth was totally star trekish, what with the civil wars and dictatorship and nearly being wiped out by the Minbari. Most of the humans shown are deeply flawed characters. Did you even watch the show?

  • Did you even read my post? I said they're still cheerly, there the spark of unrealistic optimism which I don't like, even in the worst of times there that spark.

And yes, I have seen the show, i own all 5 seasons (boxed not downloaded) own all the TV movies besides the lost tales, haven't had the money to get it yet, own the spin off crusade too, even the legend of rangers, it was pish but I still own it.

  • It's called hope dude.

  • All I said was to have remake that are more in tune with the times, as long as J. Michael Straczynski was behind it, I wouldn't accept a remake if he wasn't behind it.

  • @HotFive64231 That's just stupid, the CGI is just fine, you can't get any darker with the current story because the over-all theme was hope, and there's no way it'll happen because jms refuses to recast any of the characters.

  • @Meyosan I agree with JMS in that regard. Recasting any of the actors would take away an important aspect the series had. You just don't fuck around with what's already brilliant.

  • I have not seen this show 15 years

  • any word on new novels, that are cannon or therwise?

  • We need to raise money for fund for a Babylon 5 movie project for JMS and petition for it!

  • @CAPCBMERRITT

JMS already said he didn't want to do another series or movie for B5 - instead, he is doing a series of mini-sodes, like Lost Tales, which take place during the 20 year interval after the series and revolves around Sheridan, Lochley, Garibaldi and Galen

  • @gribae He is? Last I heard he wasn't doing any more Lost Tales. It was either full theatrical release, or nothing.

  • I wish they'd shown Na'Toth or Ta'Lon with G'kar, even if they weren't that significant in the arc. It doesn't seem right that Narn has only one representative when the credits are done in this way.

  • @Antenox Even more shocking was not putting Lyta next to Kosh!

  • @Antenox Regarding G'Kar, after the actress who played Na'Toth was written out (again), JMS toyed with the idea of making G'Kar's aide into a "Murphy Brown's secretary" kind of role where you'd have a series of aides, each eventually coming to unfortunate ends (like G'Kar's original aide Ko'Dath). Eventually he decided not to do this and decided he liked the idea of G'Kar essentially being alone much of the time (especially after the fall of Narn).

  • Such a shame they never carried on the lost tales.

  • Babylon 5 had some real poetry to it. Unlike that other deep space franchise.

  • I ctually cried!

    This is imortal!!Great music!!!

  • Even though Lost Tales didn't last, it was great fun to go back for little while. It was like visiting a place you haven't been to in years to see how its changed.

You have to admire JMS' integrity though, he'd rather not make any more than do a half arsed job with too small a budget. Still my favourite Sci-Fi ever.. even over Star Wars which these days has lost all integrity.

  • @Drwhodunnit1973 I don't think star wars had any integrity to start with. Right from the start, all lucas was after from that franchise was money.

Your words on Babylon 5 and JMS though, I couldn't agree with more.

  • @Drwhodunnit1973 you re so right dude, so right!

  • @Drwhodunnit1973 yeah, that went with The Clone Wars series

  • @Drwhodunnit1973 Right from the start, JMS said he didn't care very much for effects, and said that it was all about the characters and storylines. Personally, I couldn't give a shit about how bad the effects might seem now. It's the storyline that has pulled me in right from the start.

  • @Drwhodunnit1973 i didn't think the budget was the problem. the writing was more of a problem, and the nonsensical stuff in contention with established canon like the new hyperspace shit they had.

  • @Drwhodunnit1973 Agreed. JMS is awesome.

Still though nowadays, with how easy it is to make convincing CGI without much budget, it'd be nice to get another B5 (or maybe just update the original's effects a la Star Trek TOS, since the CGI, while impressive for its time, just looks...bad, nowadays. Not enough to detract from the story, but...)

  • @spacehelmetforacow In my opinion, at least B5's GGI has has held up remarkably well - it's a bit too "clean and bright", perhaps, but considering when it was made, it's still amazing. Very little would need to be remastered, IMHO (the jump points?).

  • @spacehelmetforacow B5 with todays CGI wouldn't be B5 anymore.

  • @ingotjuh Why not? As long as none of the actual story is changed, why would it affect anything? besides, they could always make watching with the original SFX an option in the DVD menu, like they did with Star Trek: Remastered.

  • @spacehelmetforacow The effects make B5...well.... B5. Cutting them out is losing a part of em.

  • @ingotjuh why? The story's the good part, and would still be good independent of the SFX quality (Babylon 5 would still be awesome even if it used 60s-ea models on wires).

I just think having more 'modern' effets would be nice for suspension of disbelief (having such epic battles done with spaceships that look more low-res then even a cheap videogame does today just feels...weird, to me.)

  • @spacehelmetforacow When youve seen B5 in old cgi, and u watch it in new cgi, itll all get fucked up. Look at TLT. it wasnt that good. Also... When ur watching B5 and u see a starfury or B5's defense grid firing, you expect that big boomy lasers etc. CGI improvement is usually good (EG Stargate Universe) but in b5's case its a nono.

  • That would be awesome! I'd love to see that too Hellberch1 :o) Love this dvd and any additional Babylon 5 stories/movies would be absolutely joyous!

  • Would love to see something on the Telepath War since all the main characters needed for that one are still alive. Bester, Garabaldi & Alexander

  • Great opening session, moving thanks to the use of G'Kar last speech with Sheridan and of the most tragic moment of the 5th season ... great done Mister JMS

  • They end the franchise because of the offered budget. it was too low in Michael Strazynski's opinion. But new dvd movies wereo riginally planned. But who knows, maybe we'll see a reboot or whatever in some years. Hopyfully with similiar story quality.

  • yeah too bad they lost 2 of the best actors i know of. RIP Andrea, and Richard

  • If there is a 'reboot' of the series, then I care never to see it, even it if it just remastered. The original is what I grew up with and the original is what I love and will die with.

  • JMS said he'd only do another project in the B5 universe if it was a theatrical release. The only other planned theatrical B5 movie was The Memory of Shadows, which fell through in 2005.

  • Thats a nice intro , esp the part with andreas speech , that was one of my favorite dialogs from the series .

another lost tales might be difficult without some of the actors lost . they might be able to pull off a new arc from the last season . thats possible . but seeing how well rangers did hmm thats prob why we have havent seen anything new . B5 had a hard enough time finding networks to show it , god it bounced around a while . I keep writing scifi to rerun the original B5 series .

  • I really liked lost tales, it was a very good movie.

  • I wish they would have kept The Lost Tales going. There's just something about the B5 franchise that won't allow it to continue or be re-launched.

  • Such a shame about richard and andreas... If they were still around... how knows... another series or mini series? :(

  • Maybe they should have let us see what babylon babylon 2 and babylon 3 looked like.

  • you´re right man, everybody knows B5 and B4, but what about first three babylon stations ?

  • They should also what happens in 2 years.Lyta did want to destroy the Corps.

  • B1,2 and 3 was destroyed by bombs

  • Well the first Babylon station appeared for a few seconds in In The Begining then it blew up.

  • Babylon 1-2-3 was destroyed. There is an episode about "Jinx" when he takes over the grand quest to find the grail. Babylon 4 was used by Enthil'Za = Sinclair. What could be shown is the coming war of the telepaths, that is totally un-charted.

  • Uncharted, but you know exactly where it leads into, until B5 and personally, I wouldn't like to see a new series featuring B4. Babylon 5 was about the people themselves.

  • Terrific overture ... Christopher Franke updated his now classical "Sleeping in Light : Dying Station" piece of music ... the whole thing is great. Hope JMS'd produce more soon or later before all the main characters go beyond the Rim .... anyway 10/10

  • G'Kar is eaquel with mandela!

  • they need to bring this show back

  • Comment removed

  • Man G'Kar was my favorite character. Andreas Katsulas was an excellent actor.

  • i thaught it was really well done, but poor choice of title lost tales.

these reminded me of the early eppisodes, however there is no seperation which i find annoying on the dvd of each chapter.

they need to make a series 7 insted of movies or a big movie b5 and then a series 7. the smaller eppisodes are what made the bigger ones come alive

  • I'm in love with the intro music. The music KICKS ASS!!!!

  • Dear JMS, please give us diehard fans what we really wanna see: what becomes of Londo and Vir. Time for some visual closure.

    Cheers.

  • Doesn't Londo die with G'kar in his chamber? It was more like assisted suicide. Remember the simbiote controlling Londo?

  • True. But I'm refering to Londo's request to Sheridan when the latter jumps to the future - to return and free the people from the hold of the Drakh. The scene you mention is a fast-forward with little explanation, including how come Vir does not succumb to the Drakh influence? I know there's a three part book series that addresses all this but it would be great if JMS and co. could produce this story visually.

  • I F* LOVED bab5! i hated it to end - and even more i hated "Crusader" and "Borthers in arms" to continue this great movie, in such a poor way. i was really looking forward to "lost tales" - and it was good, but way worse than the old movies (somehow all my most loved characters died in real life.. especially G'Kar RIP andreas -.- ) i think it was the fact, that there is no "life" on the sockalo etc in "lost tales", and that made Bab5 so great - it seemed to be real!

  • You said it. I wish they'd both release the original series in HD and bring out a decent computer game of life on B5.

  • Hi,

I just like to know how some of you liked the movie, I was pretty disapointed by it.

The intro was amazing as usual, but the movie couldn't compete with the series at all.

  • Beautiful... Andreas Katsulas was the perfect choice for G'Kar... RIP :(

  • I've noticed that too gribae, though, not from the series.

  • nice music

  • Ever notice that in the opening clip, the nebula behind behind the station resembles Babylon 5 a lot in shape?

  • yeah i was thinking that when i first saw that

  • Wow, they finally made the station look decent. In the original B5 the cgi stuff just wasn't that compelling. It was a shame the series couldn't hold onto actors very well. Definitely a series that never got the respect it deserved.

  • What? There really wasn't that much actor turnover and near as I've been able to see it's rather well regarded among sci-fi shows.

  • Sinclair was after the first season, but he came back for a couple episodes later on in the series. There was also the psi-corp woman, Talia Winters I think it was who left at some point. Three people over five seasons (and several movies), who had their leaving handled well doesn't really strike me as 'a lot'.

Dr. Who comes to mind as having a higher turnover rate, as does ST:TNG. It's really not a problem unless it's handled poorly by the writers anyway.

  • There may have been some ancilliary characters that left TNG but all the core crew stayed for the whole fucking series. Except for Dax in Deep Space Nine you have the same thing. I can't remember a show that had more core people leave over the course of the series. It was handled well, and I like B5 a lot, Straczynski actually wrote back doors into the series to handle the departure of any of the main characters.

  • The original security officer in TNG left (whatshername, before Worf), Dr. Crusher left then her replacement left and she came back and a good chunk of ancillary characters left (like O'Brian and ensign Ro). So about on par with B5 really.

  • Tasha Yar;-)

  • Well it was the 90s after all.

  • Sad thing is now that andreas katsulas and richard biggs have died, B5 will never, ever, be what it used to be...so i say, let the lost tales rest, and be published in book form, this way g'kar and dr. franklin will be withus on theese journeys....

  • Yeah with such important main actors dead they cannot make a flashabck type of show like this anymore... :(

  • The only thing I didn't like with Babylon 5 was the lack of storylines and more appearances of G'Kar's aide, Na'Toth. I really thought she had potential

  • You really need to watch it again if you think it didn't have enough storylines.

  • I saw the series since it first aired on teleivion in the mid 90s, so I know more about the series and the story lines than what you ovbiously do.

take a look at the opening credits, where she was G'Kar's aide, and tell me how many story lines revolved around her corner - how many episodes she was in for the series and the storylines concerning her role to the station and you find she has was missing from almost every episode, despite her character being in the oping credits

  • So you ment storylines directly regarding Na'Toth? Ah

But please, do not condesend me regarding Babylon 5. I've seen this show since it started. I've seen it through at least 10 times, and it was only a misunderstanding.

It appeared you said Babylon 5 didnt have enough storylines.

Let us just agree that it is indeed a wonderful show.

If you watch the show carefully, you'll see at least 3 or 4 other great storylines in the making, but JMS never did get around to making anything out of it.

  • I agree everyone has their own opinions on both the series, the storylines and characters, so I apologise if i offended you in any way in what I said. It was just my opinion that the charachter of Na'Thoth didn't didn;t get a good run with the series or much appearances and that I believed that if she were kept, her character would have had potential.

  • I agree!

  • True Gribae. At least they gave her a send off in Season 5. But I think the actresses singing took off. She used to do country and western music I think. But yea, she should have gotten more stories.

  • I found the movie to be rather awesome. It was one of the best of the B5 movies, actually. I hope there are going to be more Lost Tales movies as Straczynski had planned. I especially loved how in this movie they mentioned that the actors of Franklin and G'Kar are dead. "Franklin joined G'Kar on his travels, they both passed beyond the rim."

    Beautiful.

  • Not in so many words, but I also liked how JM incorporated their passing into something that the fans can relate to in the show

  • No more Lost Tales, unfortunately..JMS himself has stated that the idea has died.

  • Not exactly. He said no more Lost Tales at this time, but that doesn't necessarily mean never. JMS said he'd be willing to do more stories if he was given a bigger budget to work with, but the studio isn't willing to do that right now. So yeah, there's nothing in the foreseeable future, but we can still hope they change their minds eventually.

  • About a month ago or so JM was given the green light by the execs' to make more additions to the Lost Tales set......he said no. Why? Because he wants a cinematic release for the next movie. Not a direct to dvd movie. Which means we may never see another Lost Tales.

Pity, since I thought that Lost Tales and In The Beginning are as close to the TV show as you can get. I LOVE those movies.....But don't even get me started on History of The Rangers :(

  • the intro is the only good part about the lost tales. I loved b5 though, season 3 might be the best season of any sci fi show ever

  • If you think the introduction is all that was good, then you've missed the whole point of the movi-sode.

  • I enjoy bab 5 alot but this just was not good. The big mistake that was made was it was like another episode. It should of been a self contained episode. I mean seriously as an individual episode it was fine. I expect more out of bab 5 then this. Apparently your expectations are lower. Also on the side note, whoever did the blue screens should be fired. they might be the worst ive ever seen. I have a lot of friends who are b5 fans and they thought it was terrible too.

  • No, I have as high an expectation of B5 as ever before, and the whole movie was good for me. Perhaps it's simply that it reaches people in different ways.

I agree, the blue screens weren't all that good, but the same can be seen in the series itself. I've come to accept B5 for its storylines, not just the effects.

  • Loved the intro and the updated Station FX.

  • I loved this series while I was growing up, yet I find that that I love it more and more as I get older, especially the music OMG! Sometimes I wish that they'd go back and do to it what they did to Battlestar Galactica (you know, remake it), but then I worry about them making it not as good as the original.

  • as you get older and more mature, the storyline begins to make more sense to you and you can appreciate it a lot more.

when i was a kid, i never really liked B5 as it just looked like a crap low budget star trek.

  • Babylon 5 is just epic.

It is one of the few, if not the only true quality Si Fi series. Up until this day, I still wait for a series to live up to what B5 was.
