Mufasa was running a totalitarian state. Therefore, He was product of his own demise.

He's busting Scar's balls for not showing up to gayboy Simbas Bday and he later tells Simba that he OWNS the whole jungle and all the animals in it.

Got this movie for Christmas and put it on the TV in the living room. Everyone present (about 15 people) had already seen the movie a bunch of times, but when it came to this scene, literally EVERYONE stopped what they were doing to watch. This has got to be one of the best scenes in Disney history. If anything, it's definitely the most traumatizing.

This to me is what puts Scar over as one of the top disney villains, since he's one of the very few that actually killed a hero. Everything about this was reason to cry as a kid: Mufasa's expression after seeing Scar as a traitor, his tragic fall, actually showing a dead Mufasa to us, Simba trying hard to "wake him up" while that music plays, and finally Simba's realization that his father was gone.

I just love the animated fall and scream of Mufasa. It's just so emotional. You can hear the pain, betrayal, fear, and rage in his scream. And the way he's kicking and reaching out, trying to save himself but also in rage trying to get scar, because in those last moments of life he knew how evil his brother was.
