im not sure what kind of 3000gt you have but a rx7 will run low 13's stock depending one the year but i havent seen a stock 3000gt make runs like that consistently among different drivers like the rx7 does.
I have a vr4 lol. Your probly right about the consistency among different drivers, but I know if you put the right driver in a vr4 and then put him in a rx7 the vr4 should win. Yea its a lot heavier but it makes up for it with the awd and 300hp and torque
A huge plus though was the Stealth RT/TT/3000GT VR-4 was extremely competent in straight up Canadian, 6 month, -40 degree Celsius weather though. You could go drive around doing awesome 4 wheel drifting in the snow (I wouldn't do it on any other surface, too damaging on the car) where as the RX7 would be completely impossible to drive in even a few millimeters of snow. It gets parked all winter. I could go on and on about these cars I'll stop now. You're welcome.

The RX7 is way more satisfying to drive, very similar to driving a go cart, I must say the VR4/Stealth makes damn good use of its 4 wheel steering, and you feel more confident driving at the extremes with 4 wheel drive. But still this is not a pure sports car experience and that's why the RX7 wins. People have their opinions, but if everyone actually drove both most would prefer the RX7. The VR-4 might take the RX7 in looks though...in stock form at least.

Yup I traded my 92 Stealth RT Turbo (3000gt VR-4s twin) for a 92 Efini RX7 from Japan and am 150% happy with the decision. I wondered about which would win and I think in a straight line race this comes down to the driver. But if this were a longer race, or a track, the VR-4/RT-TT is not even in the same league as the FD3S '7. I have driven both, I am not hating on the VR4/Stealth, but just stating fact. The RX7 with me in it weighs 2850 lbs(+/- 50) and my Stealth with me in it was I think 3900.

the 1st gen vr4's are only slower due to running 2psi less wind the boost up to make it even and guess what the 1st gen comes out laughing due to the different gear ratio's and weighing like 10kg less due to the different g/box.
OK first off, I own a Stealth TT. A couple of them actually. #1, I cant tell if thats an AA wing or not. #2, that is probably a TT because an NA without a lot of work done to it isnt keeping up with a FD. Just isnt realistic. Would take a 6G74 and more bolt ons to get that to happen. #3, if thats a TT he is LAAAAZY with that car in 2nd and 3rd gear. Just listen to it and watch it shift...that was just SAD. And maybe the FD can outperform a VR4 stock outside the 1/4, but we dont melt bone stock!!
the active spoiler can be 1. always tilted, 2. set at automatic where it activates at 45mph, or 3. always turned off. that WAS a vr4, an sl could never ever stick closely to an fd3s like that. neither car sounds stock either. and there isn't any launch going on, the race looks like it starts at about 20mph or so? /end, rx7's/rotaries own, hands down. a pistons car at the same weight with the same hp will usually always lose to a rotary of the same output and such.
that is an SL!! it doesnt have the active aero spoiler that VR4s have. put that rx7 against a real vr4. and actually launch them. rx7 is still a great car, to small for me tho, i love my vr4

AWD or not, the 3000GT is an overweight beast...somewhere near 4000 lbs! It could not take on a 3rd gen RX-7 without some mods. RX-7 weighs in at roughly 2800 lbs or so... The 3rd gen is a true sports car and the GT is a Blvd. cruiser.
Yes it does weigh less then the FD or RX-7 which ever you prefer but the VR-4 is AWD and that what gives it the edge in a race. If it was a VR-4 it would be a very close race and a good one at that.
awd does not give cars advantages in all races, hello, they started from a roll, that means the heavier car is at a huge disadvantage.
but even so, the rx7 is so light that even if it had been a race from a stop the gt would probably still have been destroyed on the start as well. it's just too heavy.

the 1st gen vr4's are only slower due to running 2psi less wind the boost up to make it even and guess what the 1st gen comes out laughing due to the different gear ratio's and weighing like 10kg less due to the different g/box.

OK first off, I own a Stealth TT. A couple of them actually. #1, I cant tell if thats an AA wing or not. #2, that is probably a TT because an NA without a lot of work done to it isnt keeping up with a FD. Just isnt realistic. Would take a 6G74 and more bolt ons to get that to happen. #3, if thats a TT he is LAAAAZY with that car in 2nd and 3rd gear. Just listen to it and watch it shift...that was just SAD. And maybe the FD can outperform a VR4 stock outside the 1/4, but we dont melt bone stock!!

the active spoiler can be 1. always tilted, 2. set at automatic where it activates at 45mph, or 3. always turned off. that WAS a vr4, an sl could never ever stick closely to an fd3s like that. neither car sounds stock either. and there isn't any launch going on, the race looks like it starts at about 20mph or so? /end, rx7's/rotaries own, hands down. a pistons car at the same weight with the same hp will usually always lose to a rotary of the same output and such.

that is an SL!! it doesnt have the active aero spoiler that VR4s have. put that rx7 against a real vr4. and actually launch them. rx7 is still a great car, to small for me tho, i love my vr4

NICE. they usually go for ove 10 grand bro. lol. get that its a teal. yeah that was def not a vr4. rev limt launch does not realize that you CANNOT set the spoiler to always tilt, I HAVE ONE I KNOW. thats a 91-93 3kgt. if it was a vr4, you could hear the bov even if its stock, they are relatively loud. the exhaust also has a way dif sound. again, I OWN ONE. i also used to have a 93 SL. that is not a vr4, which is why the vid doesnt label it as one : )

vr4 is faster, stock for stock, in the 1/4 mile by a couple tenths!!!! from a roll? rx7 dominates. not only that the rx7 is a work of art compared the school bus you refer to as a faster car. the only win for the 3kgt is 1/4 mile. other than that, braking, handling especially and top end, fd would spank and annihilate.

look at the spoiler. Its a VR4 thats the active aero wing only VR4s came with that. You guys have to understand with a race the type of car doesnt really matter, all that matters is the driver and how much money he spent.

Im so fed up with people talkin about 0-60 times! Not True. rx7s (2nd gen) (200hp) takes about 6.6 seconds for 0-60 ( i saw it on actual site). NON VR4's take 7 seconds for 0-60

A VR4 weights 3703 lbs, on older models up to 3820 not 4000.
A VR4 can smoke any rx7 in a drag due to the AWD. A 3000gt VR4 with upgraded turbos and other fuel system upgrades etc. can be FASTer and beat corvettes and other SUPERcars cus there are VR4's that have 1000 ALLWHEEL HP idiots. ever seen them 9 second 1/4 miles on youtube?

not true, 3000gt 1/4 time is exactly the same as the rx7's. they launch almost the same...a fd3s or tt-rx7 0-60 is 5.0sec and a vr-4's is 4.9sec...so dont bullshit. trust me i have an rx7 and my friend has a vr4

In my opinion this it was not a VR-4 but a SL .... the advantage that I extract this RX-7 was demaciada ...... though the rotary engine is good, (300hp) 4wd it(he,she) is mas effective in the despeque (320 hp) this way that this career(race) was not just!!!! AWD or not, the 3000GT is an overweight beast...somewhere near 4000 lbs! It could not take on a 3rd gen RX-7 without some mods. RX-7 weighs in at roughly 2800 lbs or so... The 3rd gen is a true sports car and the GT is a Blvd. cruiser.

Yes it does weigh less then the FD or RX-7 which ever you prefer but the VR-4 is AWD and that what gives it the edge in a race. If it was a VR-4 it would be a very close race and a good one at that.

awd does not give cars advantages in all races, hello, they started from a roll, that means the heavier car is at a huge disadvantage.
but even so, the rx7 is so light that even if it had been a race from a stop the gt would probably still have been destroyed on the start as well. it's just too heavy.
