  • I first heard of ONJ when I was 12, that was 36 years ago. Been in love with her since. I remember when I was 16 a girl played the song Totally Hot on my 8-Track in my 1970 Camaro. She played the song to let me know how she felt about me. I have so many memories of ONJ. She will always be my number one. Absolutely love the song "SAM" and anyhing else she ever sang.

  • thank od for you tube

  • im constantly humming the song brings back memories

  • this song reminds me of 1970s radio when i was 5

  • Esta cancion se parece mucho a la que canta en vaselina; las dos son hermosas porque son cantadas por la voz dulce de Olivia.

  • @moff0507 ....... I hear you, been there, that summers still with me and this song still gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside, privilaged to have been there in time.

  • This song will forever remind of the lovely warm summer of '77. The only guy with the name Sam I could think of at the time was 'Sam McCloud' (played by Dennis Weaver) whom I had quite a crush on back then. Thanks for posting!

  • one of america's living legend..

  • Such a beautiful voice, sweet and strong same time. I love you Olivia.

  • I had a cat called Sam who died last week : (

This song makes me think of him...

  • I love this song and Olivia. such a beautiful and touching and classic song.

  • Despues de tantos años....... volver a escuchar este tema que era y es uno de mis preferidos......... gracias por subirlo....

  • I first heard this when i was a little girl - and fell in love with it - I told everybody if I had a little boy I would name him "Sam" everybody laughed - but - guess what I did (yaey me) he's 18 now and still loves me singing this to him - love it and him soooo much

  • That's touching, very beautiful!

  • I dated a girl (funnily enough,Samantha!) in the mid 80's who looked like Olivia from the 70's and she was still asked all the time if she was Olivia Newton John! I said that just showed how slowly Olivia has aged, and here we are 20 years later and I can still say that!

  • And hip hop sold very well here in America and throughout Europe, but that sure as hell never convinced me to buy any of it or listen to it.

  • And a very good choice it is, I might add. With me? "Sam" was tied with "Have You Never Been Mellow" as being her two greatest hits, but Lord knows, she sure had many other great songs also.

  • beautiful

  • My first country singer I became a fan of

    Back in 1975

  • Throughout 1975, Olivia Newton John's number one hit, "Have You Never Been Mellow" was receiving substantial airplay throughout America. Very few believed Olivia could equal or top that success. But just two years later, Olivia released "Sam," a melancholy ballad that stood alone as one of the greatest, but most underrated songs of all time. Mysteriously, it only peaked at #20 in the Billboard Top 100. To this day, very few remember one of the world's greatest masterpiece gems ever, in "Sam."

  • Believe it or not I hated "Sam" when it was on the radio. I liked Olivia back in those pre-Grease days but didn't really flip for her until exactly a year ago. Now "Sam" is in my top 5 favorite Olivia songs and I think it may be her best vocal on record. This TOTP vocal is slightly different from that on the single and if it was recorded live (not recorded for this show then mimed) then it may be her best live vocal performance ever in my opinion..

  • This music is so beautiful ,but also so sad!!!

  • my name is samantha......wow!

  • Hi Sammie!

  • I heard this song during my middle school days and I always thought she was singing to a woman, "Sam." Doesn't matter, still love the song; it's how she breathes and whispers the name...it's Olivia singing and her beautiful voice.

  • I loved this song as a teenager and young woman....

When my son Samuel was born, I loved singing it while holding him and dancing....love the song still Olivia....

  • great song,love it..

  • Poxa !Que alegria em encontrar essa canção!Faz lembrar do tempo que eu sabia oque rea paixão,obrigada pelo vídeo.Bjus.

  • jazzlover1120, I have been searching this movie for so many years now, but without success. I was just wondering if you know how I could download the movie and if you know the website. I would really appreciate if you could direct me to where or how I may obtain a copy of this movie which has sentimental value for my wife and I. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Regards, Juan Dela Cruz

  • My cousin was born after this song was out. He looks older than how she looks today.

  • I had a black and white tv @ the time, out of work and saw her on Johny Carson or somebody late @ night and she was all dressed in white, totally beautiful woman (and she still is).

  • 'Sam' was original a song from her 1976 album Don't stop believin'. I always thought it was about a fictitious person. Or maybe someone that she knew around 1976.

  • Livvy goddess

  • WHO IS SAM ??

    1977 ... A LONG TIME AGO !!!

  • this is for rayna and joebags! :_)

  • shes perfect

  • pls pls kindly tell me from which movie this song was used?

  • It wasn't from a movie.

  • This is David Berkowits Favorite Song and its funny that this song was written in 1977

  • If I'm correct, this song is about a ...DOG...

  • Yes. I think it was her dog.

  • Good lord this song is...wow. I keep looking for the album of this but my cassette tape broke today and the store doesn't have it and it hasn't come in the mail on CD yet. :(

  • Get a CD from e-Bay. I replaced all of my albums with CDs. A lot of people want them even today.

  • Voice of an angel. Her and Linda Rondstadt have the two all-time greatest voices in pop.

  • it's refreshing to see a song done in the traditional waltz tempo make it in the mainstream modern pop era. i feel like putting on a tux and doing the waltz with a partner in a ballroom gown when i hear this lovely ballad.

  • Olivia is the bomb!

  • An angelical voice, difficult to forget.

  • this song is from a movie's soundtrack! which movie? does anybody know?

  • I wish my name were "Sam"

  • If I ever have a son, I'm naming him Sam, after this song.

  • This reminds me of the sweatshop I worked in during summer hols of 77. My supervisors use to listen to the radio while they watched me work. This was played often, I loved it. music made the work less tedious. That was the same summer Elvis died if I'm not mistaken. My sister and I were on the top deck of a bus on our way to the same sweat shop. We were reading over the shoulder of someones newspaper, my sister screamed out 'Elvis is dead!' and the whole bus was in uproar.

  • I love this music and Olivia too..this music touch me so much

  • This song touchs me everytime i hear it

  • what a very touching song, to me at this time.

  • that was great alright..she herself says it's her favourite song

  • Love the feathered hair.

  • I had an exact copy of her haircut too.

  • Olivia, mi amas vin!

  • my favourite .. so beautiful

  • Just loved It God she was beautiful Probably still is

  • Great Song...must be her best...thanks for posting it.
