@getgln While I agree that ethics should be taught throughout school, I can see the potential for danger and/or confusion in passing out an ethics exam. Like with all exams, students could simply learn the right answer, or how to otherwise manipulate the test, and not bother with the deeper meaning and real-life applications behind the questions. There should be a measurement of some sort, but I don't think a formal exam would be the most appropriate or effective.

There are certain things we can all agree on: that it is wrong to kill, to steal, etc., but the situations that lead to these sorts of atrocities are rarely, if ever, black and white. Are there circumstances under which it would acceptable to kill or steal? What about trivial situations in which there isn't a "right" answer? People will have different opinions, and no one has a monopoly on morality.

3) scatcatpdx was confusing all this with another plan, which was to bomb some dams and flood the farmer's fields. That is what was rejected, as impractical.
While it was discus in 1965 the plan was rejected. Most case of bombing were location of NVA or Viet Cong supply dumps or troop movements. Still it was not lost on Hanoi to use so call bombing of rice paddies in their propaganda war.

Like with all exams, students could simply learn the right answer, or how to otherwise manipulate the test, and not bother with the deeper meaning and real-life applications behind the questions. There should be a measurement of some sort, but I don't think a formal exam would be the most appropriate or effective.

There are certain things we can all agree on: that it is wrong to kill, to steal, etc., but the situations that lead to these sorts of atrocities are rarely, if ever, black and white. Are there circumstances under which it would acceptable to kill or steal? What about trivial situations in which there isn't a "right" answer? People will have different opinions, and no one has a monopoly on morality.

So for 6 years it was sprayed on 3.6 million acres which is 10% of Vietnams land area. The US government denies virtually all liability . To this day the land is ruined. Also remember: If the NVA (North Vietnamese Army) took the food they needed (which they did), leaving civilians starved, it would cause a hatred of the NVA in civilian eyes, thus gaining support for America.
Of course, the NVA had better propaganda, and therefore we lost that tactic.

The US shouldn't have been there in the first place. I just read again, how the whole thing started. Basically, it was all about the economical and political interests of the US and France in that region and the fear for communistic countries like the UdSSR and China.
In 1956 the Southern Vietnamse president canceled elections being afraid to lose and regime critics were put into jail.
But the US supported that regime.
So it's good that the US lost the war.

The second law of thermodynamics states that entropy is constantly increasing and energy is needed to maintain order. Entropy is disorder. This is why we die. Here in Washington state we have concealed carry permits. The crime is much lower here. I am also a professional musician. I play guitar, bass, and keyboards. My sons play too. We like to go to museums as a family. My wife does arts and crafts. Firearms just keep us safe. Buy a gun and protect your family.

That you are able to spend time on music is because you do not live in anargy.Because of the laws. Otherwise you would be stressing about people having tanks to attack you. @MaxSluiman Been following your conversation with the 37 year old -He was wrong to be so rude, but he is right in that stricter gun laws, give lawbreakers (criminals) more power to hurt and make us victims. All these schootings happen, because the maniacs who break the law know that there are few (if none at all) armed citizens to stop them. I liken owning a gun to having a pitbull: you are less likely to be harrassed with one due to the "fear of the fang." No one wants to be mauled.

more than 300,000 Iraqis have died since the begining of the war. America went in under manipulated intelligence and is occupying the land. Defoliant was used to make the enemy come out into the open to fight where we could bomb the crap out of the little meatsticks.
As far as killing off rice fields I can see how the defoliant would do that but I'm not sure that the rice was the original target.

Wow, all those posts and it's practically impossible to read. Here's the story:
1)pinky is right avnd scatcatpdx is wrong. There was a massive campaign of bombing and defoliating rice fields by us in Vietnam. And was of the character pinky describes.
3) scatcatpdx was confusing all this with another plan, which was to bomb some dams and flood the farmer's fields. That is what was rejected, as impractical.

While it was discus in 1965 the plan was rejected. Most case of bombing were location of NVA or Viet Cong supply dumps or troop movements. Still it was not lost on Hanoi to use so call bombing of rice paddies in their propaganda war.

It's the only one of pinky's videos that has an actual joke in it, as far as I remember.
I'm not sure how you can go overboard when talking about the richest country on the planet using equipment that costs probably more than the collective income of every farmer in Vietnam to drop bombs and carcinogenic herbicides on rice paddies plowed by water buffalo in order to starve a bunch of peasants to death.

I find it difficult to understand how people can be some what frustrated and saying that this video is going way over board all medical Doctors do need to swear the hypocratic oath ( I hope i spelt that correctly )but i do believe Pinky does have a good point wouldn't it be a good idea to get people with knowledge to help people in need in all shapes and forms. If people say this is too over board then imagine if this was your own lives that was at risk.

We set up camps in Vietnam for civilians, we spent millions on food for the Vietnamese's and destroyed their crops to force the civilians into these camps so they would not be in harms way. I hate this fucking cat.
