You right and here's another factor that's being overlooked. When the '86 Celtics went in their in their playoff run, they didn't face centers, who was anywhere near legendary the same way the Bulls faced during their playoff run!

For instance, in the 1st Round series against the Bulls, who was (32-50) they faced Dave Corzine, who was their starting Center and he proposed NO THREAT to their Frontcourt, specifically, Parish and McHale.

In the second Round, they faced the Atlanta Hawks...

Dont forget olajuwon was in his second year in the NBA and by that time hadnt developed his skills. He was repeatedly outplayed by Mchale because of his inexperience. The truth is the 96 Bulls D could hold down the 86 Celtics halfcourt offense.

Everyone says that the Celtics frontcourt would destroy the Bulls but I been thinking the Bulls was probably the greatest defensive team of all time even better than the 87 Pistons who as we all know almost beat the Celtics. MJ would shut down Ainge easily, Pippen would hold Bird (wouldnt stop him altogether), Rodman could hold Mchale (wouldnt stop him either though) but at least he wold out rebound him. History shows the Bulls only had a shot to beat the Celts when Jordan was the only one of his team scoring. Bull lose in OT by 4 that day MJ scores 63. Bulls only got to within 4 at the end of a playoff game against Boston one other time. Other 4 times they've played....not even close.

Bird played better all-around offense, Jordan played all-around better defense.

Bird had a better team than Jordan plain and simple. Bulls shouldn't have been in the playoffs with losing records.

Bird shot better from beyond the arc (37.3 to 32.7%) and from the line (88.6-83.5) and almost shot equally with Jordan from the field (49,7 to 49.6%) He also rebounded better (on both ends) and averaged 1 more APG (6.3 to 5.3) than Jordan. Therefore he's better at offense. Jordan just gets credit with being a better scorer because he took a lot more shots than Bird.

Jordan is the best one-on-one player ever, but not the greatest all-around player.

'86 is the year Bird won the NBA Championship, Playoff MVP, All-Star 3-point shootout (3rd straight), went 67-15 regular season (40 and 1 at home).... and his THIRD CONSECUTIVE NBA MVP.

No doubt Jordan is awesome, but If I had to select an All-Time Dream Team, Bird would definitely be the FIRST PICK.
