Victor Wooten is a phenomenal player...
but George Porter Jr GROOVES like the world is about to end...his playing touches my soul.
Christian McBride is the only other bass player to affect me in the same way. Groove, taste, great ideas.... McBride and Porter are two of the all time greats.

EXACTLY...bass solos are completely different than guitar solos.
Guitar solo = LOOK HOW MANY NOTES I CAN PLAY IN 16 BARS!
Bass solo = I'm playing lead for 16 bars, but not letting you forget the groove this song was based around.

Victor Wooten is amazing
and he can play almost anything "technically", but he can't match Porter's funky feel.

I disagree...if that example is what you are basing your opinion on...then it's a weak argument. That was not hard to replicate.

I saw Porter Batiste Stoltz last May. I also saw him play with Eric Krasno & Chapter2, and I saw him play with Gov't Mule
It's not all about how hard it is to replicate it. Victor Wooten is amazing and I'm a big fan. but based on what I've seen live of them both, I've never heard Wooten get to the level of funk that George Porter Jr. does.
