What a beatiful tribute..more so because they were TRUE friends since high school days. Jan had real courage after the car accident and Dean had class, not EVERYONE stays friends when tradgy stricks and a person has to rebuild and re learn thier life. God Bless you Dean. RIP Jan, miss you very much.
Your tribute brought a smile to my face. I got to see them in Irvine at one of the 1st new tours then I took photos at the Golden Bear-Huntington Beach show & quite a few others. When they played up here at the fair in NorCal, Jan & Dean were cool enough to sign the small album of pix I had put together. I've only asked for autographs 3 times in my 57 years & I sure wanted theirs. How fortunate I was to have been able to see them so many times.
The times were a changing, but, IF not for that terrible car crash back in 66, i think they could have kept going for many more years. They were great.
Nice collage of clips from various sources. I've got that 1979 DVD of them too. The version of Sidewalk Surfin you've used here is the ORIGINAL + BEST one of all. Congrats, well done, great job.
i grew up listening to jan and dean, and i love your compilation, makes me want to take my skateboard out there again, and i still do have one, and use it
one of the best..thank you rob for this one and thank you to the uploader..great one..very sweet memories of me and my sis..we both always love them anfd this song.......great memories.....
ABSOLUTELY, Jan and Dean belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Especially after seeing who some of the inductees are in there now. Give me a break! Jan and Dean Did and Still DO Rock!!!
My brother and I loved these guys! My bro had a board made of Oak with metal wheels! They were too often confused with the Beach Boys, but Jan and Dean really were surfers while the Beach Boys were still in grade school.

when was that song written and jan wrote it correct or no?
JonnyRobert 4 years ago
its from 1964
yep, jan wrote it, but only the lyrics. cause brian wilson gave the melody of this song to him.
