I just bought my ATG gun today. Got it at Michaels with 2 refils for 20 dollars! Used a 50% off coupon, totally awesome deal! Watched your video on how to load, it was a big help. I've got a project I'll be working on this weekend, so I will deffinitly be using my new "toy".
I'm really glad I saw this video. I've been considering getting an ATG gun pretty seriously for about the past month. I end up buying the little snail type refills at Walmart. They're 2.50 for 30 feet, so really in the long run for a few more dollars I could get the ATG refills. Definitely going to look into this. Thanks SO MUCH for making this video!
JUst wanted to let everyone know that I just bought my ATG gun at Michaels. The price was $54.99 plus tax, but I used a 40% off coupon with it. It also came with two rolls of tape and it's pink.
@babyblueagle1 The pink ATG wasn't available when I made this video - but it's pretty much the same as mine. The parts aren't as "industrial" but I would assume it will hold up just fine - and yes being able to use a coupon makes a huge difference.
Thanks for the video. The one issue I have with all tape runners (I don't have ATG) is that the tape falls off the wheel and I haven't been able to fix it. If you have a solution to this I would be grateful.
I just bought one today and am very unhappy with it. After awhie my wrist got sore from having to press so hard to get the glue out. But my friends all thanked me for saving them a lot of money because now none of them want to get one.
@dmnoel15 if you're talking about the ATG there is no need to press hard at all. In fact with all of them there is very little pressure needed - the ATG being the least and the SNAIL being the most.
I have been addressing myself as a pro-beginner in paper crafting for a year now every since I bought my Cricut Expression. So lately I have been seriously watching YouTube to learn about the best products. I want this ATG. I found your video very informative. Hands down that is alot more tape. Mr. or Ms. FYI I too own a Glue Glider by Glue Arts. High Tac refill has exactly 58' but who's counting. No where near the ATG. Hmm?
Thanks for sharing this video. I purchased the ATG today and was frustrated trying to load the tape for the 1st time. The instructions with it are useless in my opinion. I decided to youtube search for loading instructions and came across your other video on how to load the tape! THANKS! It was very helpful and I was finally able to load the tape without a problem.
I find the smaller adhesive unit useless because it doesn't hold as well. The problem here is that all the units you demonstrated use back-to-back tape and usually miss a spot. Friends have sent me cards in the mail and on a hot day the adhesive became weak and pieces of the card began to fall off. I find using permanent glue on my cards and crafts work better. Glue has a better fusion on paper than tape. Although, this kind of tape is always great for gift wrapping paper.
@claytungsten the ATG adhesive is permanent - it is meant for framing so it lasts forever. I can't pull apart cardstock without it tearing when I've used the ATG.
I know this vid is over a year now but It was really helpful! I have all three now and haven't used my newest, ATG, I just put the tape in and it was easy. Thanks so much again for sharing! Jules:)
Great comparisons! I just bought the Pink ATG at Michaels with a 40% coupon. I have yet to try it though. It ridiculously enormous, but I like that it holds so much and less plastic waste on the refill. Definitely more for your money on the refills! I hope they come out with repositionable refills, too.
TFS, I was thinking of whether to buy the ATG and came across your video. Please don't get the ProGlider repositioner. Unlike the permanent, it's a headache to use. I've been making mini albums and find myself using rolls of double sided tapes and bottles of glue that I think the ATG might be better. Thanks!
I love my glue glider pro because you can go round corners with it and it is not too big like the ATG, so easy to refill and doesn't run out as quick as the 'snail'.
The pack-n-tape website sells the ATG 714 for 39.95 plus 9.00 shipping. That's a great price, plus their shipping is fast. I have the PRO and don't like it. It didn't stick well for me a all. Plus for some reason I was always running the tape off the edges. :) Thanks for the comparison.
I agree the ATG is economically and environmentally better... but I'm just having some trouble that the adhesive doesn't STICK to the paper as I run the applicator over the paper and ends up gooing up on the used paper of the roll. :( Also, it seems like the roll is sliding off the two rollers, but perhaps that's just the way it's made. In any case, thanks for the informative video! :)
Thanks so much for this comparison video, its great. I have used both the snail and the ATG and 1 problem keeps occuring. All the leftover backing tape builds up and eventually the unused tape starts catching on it. Have you ever come across this?
Just FYI the Pro Glider refills have 65 ft not 40. When you buy it new it only has 40 ft to get you started and then you when you buy the refills it has 65 ft.. It doesn't change the fact that a lot of plastic is wasted but there is an extra 25 ft on the refills than what you said in the video.
I liked the comparisons and your video, thank you.
Oh yeah you're right - I just checked and it IS 60ft oops!! I still don't like all the plastic that gets thrown out tho! :( It's such a cute applicator too!
Thanks for the video. I've been looking for an ATG as I'm debating getting it and the link you provided is the cheapest so far. Which is great since it's CAD pricing! :)
The red ATG only holds 1/4" adhesive and the yellow only holds 1/2". There is an adaptor that can be bought for the yellow ATG that will enable it to use the 1/4" adhesive as well - it retails for around $14 or so?
I just bought the red one b/c I make mostly cards and scrapbook pages and whatnot and 1/4" adhesive is perfect for that!

Refills for the Glue Glider Pro come in a variety of types. The longest is called High Tac and is 60' long!
