The Doctor has the wisdom to know when to render the judgment of death upon someone (very few times), to give eternal life in a prison (Family of Blood), or second chance at life like he has done on so many times with Davros and countless others.

It takes wisdom to master the art of balancing judgment and mercy.

I hope that we individually can do the same as the Doctor as we walk out our daily lives.
