I watched this when I was about 4 (now 24) and I always thought I dreamed it. The only thing I could ever remembered was the girl walking sideways on the wall. I finally googled it one day out of curiousity and bam - this is what came up.
Honestly, this fucked me up so much as a kid! Glad to know I wasn't the only one. Seems alot of people remembered it but couldn't recall what it was called.
man, so glad i'm not the only one who found this movie scary as a kid. that damn elephant terrified me as a kid...really, though, this whole movie is fubar
this used to be my most favorite movie of all time i remember watching it over and over again when i was tiny!!! ive been thinking about if for about 8 or 9 years and i couldn't remember what it was called then i looked it up last night by searching some of the scenes i remembered and i found it!! this is crazy!
the elephant shooting fire...god that terrified me when i was little >.< even though he turns nice, still scares me to this day, gave me goosebumps haha
4:51 - lol... maybe this movie is one of the reasons i grew up loving ALL animals, no matter what. (i argued with someone the other day that sloths and naked mole rats are adorable, despite their reputation as being "ugly." i love them. and i love that hairy mammoth up there breathing fire too, ha ha.)
@FreidaSnake My first pair of pet rats were hairless and soooo cute. My parents owned a Rex cat at one point which is fairly close to looking like a hairless. I almost ended up buying a pair of skinny pigs (hairless guinea pigs) once, but ended up adopting two with hair instead.
@jenzeppelin i'va had total of 9 pet rats and 7 cats. 3 cats are still alive. they're all usual furry creatures but thats just because i've taken in allley cats or strays one mine was found as a kitten in a dumpster!! I live in a cold climate and there aren't many hairless strays around here!!! i do want one in the future if i can live with bying one instead of adopting from a shelter
hahaha im sooo glad i found this here! i cant believe my sisters and i used to watch this nearly everyday. even in my late 20's, im still creeped out. but i cant help but to wish they still made stuff like this. kids today need this kind of imagination and maybe put a little scare into them.
I'd be so scared walking on a magic "sidewalk" all the while knowing that if I fell it would be into a giant sea of broken glass that would rend me to pieces. :/
Man children/family films back in the day were dark. From Disney we had "Watcher in the Woods", "Something Wicked This Way Comes", "The Black Cauldron", "Return to Oz", "One Magic Xmas". There were the fantasies "The Dark Crystal", "Neverending Story", "Secret of NIMH". Even the specials "My Little Pony" (1984) starring Sandy Duncan and Tony Randall, Rankin/Bass' "The Life & Adventures of Santa Claus" were dark compared with today's media, the former which I prefer over the latter. ; )
Labyrinth" (1986) and "My Little Pony: Escape From Catrina" (1985) starring Paul Williams and Tammy Grimes, the follow-ups to "The Dark Crystal" (1982) and "My Little Pony" (1984), were toned down to make them lighter than their dark successors. ; )
i 100% agree with you. kid movies and such today dont even compare to the ones i use to watch. i LOVED watcher in the woods, neverending story movies, my little pony and the rankin/bass cartoons! kids today just dont know lol. but mine will =)
@CharlestonChica Yeah, I can't believe they like those spoofy 3D animated movies. The old days did way better and I know Hollywood still can do better.

The Book Worm is voiced by Richard Haydn who also voiced the Caterpillar in Disney's "Alice in Wonderland", no doubt spoofing that role. ; )
