Tesla is innovative from the sense that they are highlighting 3 other key benefits of an electric powertrain aside better efficiency: 1) high torque, 2) smooth acceleration and hopefully 3) much better reliability. I hope the worldwide consumers embrace these benefits even if oil prices come down. This will help move R&D and build much needed economies of scale. Thanks for the post.

Our car is good for Miles per gallon/miles per litre. We get around 400 miles for £40 worth of Diesel which is good. we get 49.6mpg. And thats with a 57 Grand C4 Picasso.

but technically electric vehicles need the power to charge them.... so unless you get that power from solar power for example, your still burning fossil fuels. so what you really wants to do is be able to run entire cities on solar or wind power before you can start with the cars.

This was truly an interesting conversation to view. It's nice to be able to see a top automotive executive discuss and pitch the ways and means of the future of the industry. Im highly grateful that you were allowed to film this, though my only regret was that you didn't post it in its entirety, or it this was on ustream I didn't catch it live.
