i got my .270 a few weeks back, and i took it huntn last weekend. i shot a kangaroo at 200 yards with a 130 grain soft point federal load. and it went straight through the kanga. so im taking it deer hunting in 2 weekends with 150 grain loads.
nice work. my dad shot a roo in the head with 62 grain holy piont from his howa m-1500 in .223. he hit it in the back of the head and then its face was just gone!
After I dropped a 315lbs black bear with my .270 (on a terrible shot... a little nervous!)I will never use another gun for bear and smaller. I swear by that thing!
.270 has a wild recoil compared to my .308. The pressures in that thing are higher than 50,000psi. Thats more than most short mags, and thats why it kicks so abnormally hard. I heard a good alternative is the .280 rem. Is that ture?
great round, .30-06 is good too but the balistics are so similar between the two honestly the .270 was the gun the shop keep took of the rack and i said whatever give me it, had it been .30-06 id have taken that
i want to get a .308 just for surplus ammo but .270 will always be #1 in my cabinet!
270 are good i was going to get because u can shoot alot of things with it but i got a 308. instead and just use a 22. for rabitts and little things like that
federals arnt that expenisve, well i live in australia. and its only $27 for 20. i mean yeah you can go cheaper, but i seen more expensive ones at the store. and i personally like the federals
.270 can be a bitch. I didn't tighten the scope down enough on a .270 once, and it gave me a bruise on forehead. Lots of fun after tightening that up though.
