As far as I'm concerned, that sounded like a long, long, long excercise. How to run scales and arpeggios quickly and put some accents to it. Nothing more.
@infectionsman I've already done so. And my opinion is the same. Paganini's revenge might be an exception, but the rest are just too technical and so little emotive. And his tendency to lay rhythm guitars over and over —with plain chords— is just too much for me.
This is my first time checking out Mr.Stump! I love neo-classical as much as anybody but this guy is a totally unoriginal Yngwie rip-off! It's a shame to because the guy has the technique and the talent. If he would just apply it to something more original he might have something!
alot of people spend alot of time trying to play like yngwie. this loser is making a career out of it. sad......get your own identity. everything I have ever heard this dude play is nothing but a bunch of yngwie licks.....move on joe.
@jugifu very true. Yngwie malmsteen has admitted on numerous occasions that in his younger years he did nothing but play guitar sometimes not sleeping for a couple of days so he could master his instrument. his marriage to this retarded bimbo in the early nineties didnt last long her saying they did pretty much nothing together but sleep. then she became a stripper. it must feel kinda funny waking up one day when ur 45 and realizing ur an extremely lonely childless unhappy guitar god.
I could do that....if I didnt have a life, and a family, and a job, and pets, and friends, and church, and kids, and just kidding...this is obviously natural talent, born with it. But I would love to know how all those things are in his life...you have to give up in some of these areas to be this good. I have played bass for 30 years this year. Just to practice 2-4 hours a day, which is not gonna get you this good, you have to take it from somewhere. Live, play, die, I guess is his moto.
@jugifu just years of practice. some times the pros practised like 15 hours a day. i dont believe anyone is born with a talent, its just hard work and practice.
Fucking awesome, Joe will be appearing on my new album "Majestic Nightmares and Dark Fantasies" which comes out Spring 2012. He will be on 2 songs. So far his solos are crazy and awesome. This video is great \m/ thank you for posting this \m/

Nothing I've heard Yngwie play, and I've heard it all, gave me this amount of goose bumps. This is pure adrenaline!

@jfutach YES! Joe Stump is freaking great. Such tasteful and melodic chops. I can hear a little bit of Paul Gilbert in his playing style, too.
