yea but the mazda 3 sport gt 2.3L is an even better engine and has better sport suspension, rims and tires. with my injen CAI and magnaflow CBE i have over 185hp
At the wheels? I'd love to see a dyno sheet on that. On Mazda3forums, 2.3's with the CP-E standback, header, intake, cat delete, and dyno tune are only running 165 whp on a DynoDynamics dyno.
Also, the internals are far from great. Slap a turbo on it and pop your motor all in the same day. Lean spike? Pop your motor. Boost surge? Pop your motor. Good tune? Shred third gear AND pop your motor.
I love the Mazda 3, but it has its shortcomings and it is far from quick.
The Mazdaspeed 3 uses an entirely different engine; it uses the 2.3L DISI MZR engine found in the Mazdaspeed 6 and CX-7. The Speed3 engine has different rods, pistons, head, valves/springs, intake manifold (direct injection), ECU, block, and crank shaft. It is built with forced induction in mind, unlike the naturally aspirated 2.3L MZR engine that comes on the Mazda 3. Where are you getting YOUR facts?
Shit a quarter mile would be more like 16.8-17.8 depending on the elevation! I know I used to have a 2.0l mazda3. Makes sense it beat that model si. The si may have 10hp more the mazda has 20ft-lbs.
