  • fucking game was the best.

  • Ah memories, one of the greatest RPGs ever and an even greater intro.

  • I nostalgia'd so hard. This series needs needs to be redone on modern consoles in 3d.

  • I got a Sega CD for x-mas 4 years ago JUST so I could bust my copy out and play it. Epic game with a epic feel.

Also- Quark looks like a real dragon in this version.

  • I'm only really familiar with Silver Star Story and Wings, but I like this song, it has a very 90's Sonic feel to it.

  • I miss this game, need to buy a Genesis for my Sega CD and all the hookups and this game, Vay, and Popful Mail. I miss all the old games, especially Working Designs games (For some odd reason, why?), fiercely. My idiocy had me sell every game and system I had. Nearly. And I was 5 when this came out, of course I'm assuming this was released in 1994 since I can clearly remember this game throughout my childhood, and teenage years, up to how old I am now, 22, although mostly on the PS1.

  • hey! hey! dj strach... hey! hey! dj strach

  • Was so addicted to this game when it came out. I must've beaten it like 5-6 times.

  • Awsome

  • Dude, I never got to watch this, because I had the PS version. XD This is cool. :D

  • WTF am I 12 again.

  • Working Designs death was the second saddest gaming news I have ever heard in my 23 plus years of gaming. The saddest of course was when Sega gave up on consoles.

  • This song has always held a strange nostalgia for me even though I only ever played the PSX version of Lunar.

  • Look, I love Lunar for all its worth, but given that my first exposure to this series is the PSX version, I have to say that this opening theme is just plain awful to hear.

  • @mwatcher

Blame the dubbing team for that.

  • This game shaped my life as a writer and got me into RPGs

  • nice rock shit

  • Lunar 3. NOW!!!!!!!!!

  • @700gsteak

Even if it happens, it won't be right when we get it. Working Designs is gone. =(

  • Fuck Final Fantasy, this series franchise needed more attention.

  • Unfortunately I never played this version of Lunar, but I LOVE and STILL have the PSX version. =D

  • Great Game!!!

  • aaaahhh, back when this world made sense...

  • Aw man, back in the day.

  • When people say the Sega CD sucks, I point toward this game and Sonic CD.

  • @TheEscapedBalloon And don't forget the all mighty Snatcher n_n

  • @HellMaynard

There's also Panic!, while short it is wacky and fun.

  • @HellMaynard How can we forget? It's only the greatest game ever.

  • Sega CD version trumps any remake, IMO. True for Eternal Blue as well.

  • o-o wow , I think lunar might have the record for most remakes for a rpg

  • ATTRACT MODO!?

  • Man I really love this song, it takes Me way back!

  • Good game, but the the song is just... I guess it's because I don't like the vocalist or something.

  • Wow... when whoever saw this back in the early 90s saw this intro they must of thought "this is an incredible!"

  • If nintendo put sega cd games on virtual console, this one, snatcher and sonic cd needs to be on the store. They put turbografx cd games, why not sega cd and 32x.

  • @saizerboy 32x is harder to emulate, and there's not a huge list of good titles on it. Sega CD, the games are too big for the Wii's built in 512 memory. So maybe they're not interested in risking people buying the memory stick to hold their full game.

  • I dont' know what attracted me to this game when I was younger...but this video gives me great nostalgic value!!!

  • YAY! this one has the audio done correctly the last video had the video done with 2 seconds behind (done with bad emulation) seems you either have a good emulator, or you shot this with an actual sega CD. either way. thank you for the great video having the audio in the correct arrangement. one of the best RPG's ever made.

  • Favorite Christmas present '95. I watched the Ghaleon/Quark scene and kept resetting it so I could watch it over and over... such emotion.

I await a prequel that focuses on Dyne and Ghaleon.

  • The intro music is much better on the Sega CD version.

  • Don't remember alot from the two games except that I loved this song :>

  • this sounds like an intro to a saturday morning cartoon.

  • Thank God I bought the PS version

  • I Love it. Be sure to check out my channel for my Lunar and other vintage gaming playthroughs, cheats, hints, tips and more!

  • I would imagine that if there is a Japanese SEGA CD edition that the music would be better in their native language.

  • Whoa, the lightning was its own instruments! You know you're in for an intense song when it starts off like that!

Now, this theme is so cheesy, it's simply AWESOME. Screw the PSX version, Sega CD, man, that's where it's at! (Half sarcasm)

  • SegaCD Version has better gameplay, Alex is not nerfed, and Ghaleon actually kills dragons. Remake has better characte interaction (all the characters talk alot more), makes Ghaleon more sympathetic and the vile tribe chicks were hot. Both awesome but in different ways.

  • I used to think Xenobia was the hottest of the three. Now I realize, its Royce. I have my reasons. And of the heroines its always been Luna. Alex, you dog.

  • This song is pretty bad seriously If I attempted to sing this song in school or anywhere out in pubIic I would be expected to get beat up.

    Really classis rpg.

  • @InfidelAntichristian you must be pretty weak then.. when i sing something in scool or in public it becomes a trend

  • I was 14 when this came out and I'll never forget seeing that intro. Ty for posting.

  • I love this song, possibly more than the remake songs.

  • This game was the VERY first RPG I played. Ever. Before Mario RPG, Earthbound, and Pokemon. I don't care as much for any of the remakes on various consoles. I hold nice memories of this game! Too awesome!

  • ... and that my friend is my childhood.

  • @linkyoo Not to be vulgar or anything but

    Hell Fuckin Yeah!

  • Lunar is a brilliant series. Lunar 2 Sega CD is my favorite game of all time. Thank you so much for posting this. When i first played Lunar, it truly touched me and made me fall in love with games. When Lunar 2 came around, it honestly changed my life. I know that when i'm on my deathbed and i look back on my life, that I will remember Lunar. Watching this Video brought back so many great memories.

  • question: at 1:23

Is that the same as the back of the older Solitaire on windows.. 98, I think?

  • it was great

  • The sad thing was the sega cd never caught on (damn nintendo), but it was actually ahead of its time. Music...with actual words! who cares if was cheesy...

  • I never played this one on Sega Cd, didn't play it until it came out on Playstation but this was on the soundtrack and I wondered where the hell it vcame from. This song sounds A LOT like the opening song for A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 but with a quicker tempo

  • Awesome song!

  • best rpg EVER loved it!

  • This remains my favourite series of all time, especially the first one. I never had a stronger emotional reaction to a game in my life. All these years later, I can still watch some of the cinematics and instantly feel those old emotions again.

  • Unsurprisingly, I know TONS of people who have said the same thing. Many people say the ending is the one to bring tears.

The characters are lovable, the music is amazing and the story, with any cliches it may have, does everything so well that it's like they were the first to do them. They have plenty of humor...You can't convey the greatness in words.

  • You don't have a valid opinion.

  • I wish I could have experienced this in 1992. It would have been the most bad ass thing in the world.

  • It's as badass to me now as it ever was.

  • Speaking as someone who bought it at launch:

    it was.

  • All the PSX versions have is a slightly enhanced story, more animation and extra music but at the cost of a crippled combat system, broken weapons and spells.

Its truly the difference between the PSX game and lunar legends that's how much of a downgrade it is.The Sega CD version is still the better game.

  • They also made a bunch of needless changes. Youknowwho no longer murders youknowwho, he captures him instead. Alex plays a ocarina instead of a harp. Luna goes along to Meribia. Etc.

  • Man this brings back memories as a kid playing this game... WOW.

  • I love balls, baseballs.

  • lol

  • I fucking love this song.

  • fucken right

  • Best RPG ever made.

  • @Wip3ou7 best rpg is shadowrun for genesis

  • @Wip3ou7 agree!

  • @Wip3ou7 I agree.

  • @Wip3ou7 Not the remake but original Sega CD version. =D

  • WOOOOW I was wondering where this song came into play!! (This song was on the soundtrack and for the longest time I was like...when the heck was this in the game!?)

  • how much different is this from the psx version?

  • it's a completely different game. the story is all that is the same. the music was even not as good in the psx version... sorry to say.

  • Not as good on the psx version? I would have to disagree. The music was way more emotional and memorable in the PSX version. The sega cd version had mostly just typical music though.

That being said, they're still different games with different feels. And the story isn't that too much the same either.

  • sega cd version was real orchestra psx was synth

  • What does that have to do with anything? It's like comparing Touhou to Super Mario Galaxy.

  • well when its the exact same music played with lower quality instuments its a big difference. its like comparing a beat machine to an actual drummer

  • Please. This intro owns the PS one.

  • I agree. The remake's better as a whole and both utterly decimate the shit GBA version. I never thought it possible that Iwadare's music could be made to sound like a herd of cats being tortured until I had the misfortune of playing that POS.

  • this and shining force 2 made up my video game experience as a child, and now i can bust them out on my psp, pretty ill.

  • This game rocks. Sniff Sniff. Great song.

  • I remember back in the 90s when video game magazines had plenty of those mail-order ads!!!! Ha ha! Mail order ads!

Lunar was shown in one of them and we'd see 1:09-1:10 frame by frame just to show you that this game had full motion video! Ooooooh! Aaaaaah! Ha ha!

I should give it a try on emulators, looks like a really good jrpg...

  • oh my god LOL i remember this, i had this game it was so much harder than the PSone versone, i rmember those dungeons would go on FOREVER! hisssssss! workingd designs did a good job with a translation but like in all their games, they want to far with the americanisms, but regardless thanks to them for bringing an awesome game like this to the states that would have otherwise never come as well as eternal blue and all the other stuff they brought over before they got silly and went out of bidnes

  • who was the artist for this song?

  • I eventually named my son Alex... ;)

  • thats what i was thinking of doing..

  • i remember this game when it came out when was it 93? I was in third grade. this game taught me how to read :P

  • same here! i was in 1st though and my older sis had to read it to me lol

  • I got this the summer that I was told that I couldn't physically continue going to highschool due to a condition that we originally thought was asthma. That summer I got this game from my grandmother, along with a giant pile of other goodies. Anyhow I played it so much that the disc wore out. I actually teared up at the thought of that disc not working anymore. It was like my only friend. Turns out it wasn't asthma and I got better. I still own that disc today even though it won't load anymore.

  • ah... you should download the rom or something, bring back memories.

  • I just got a massive headache from the flashback that hit me with that song. Amazing stuff.

  • NEVER REMOVE THIS!!!

  • totally agree!

  • totally agree!

  • the best game ever.

  • how many times has this game been remade?

  • its been remade, but never duplicated!

  • just once.

  • About three times, first on the Sega Saturn (known as The Silver Star Story) in Japan, then again on the PS1 (known as The Silver Star Story Complete) here in the west and then later as a handheld port for the GBA (known as Lunar Legend).

  • @finalfantasyXyuna

3 times. PS1/Saturn, GBA, and now PSP.

  • my favorite segacd game! still have it since day one. dug the segacd and game out the closet and still works.

  • This is thee game that started me on gaming! This song is just like... Well every time I hear it I just have to start singing! Actually if you pop the saturn disc into a cd player you can listen to all of the music. ((52 cut scenes and songs)) So yeah. I'm trying to get this video for my gaiaonline account. I love the playstation version of Lunar too. Of coarse.

  • Considering the limited capabilities that the Sega CD had, I have to admit the intro was top notch! I liked the song, was pretty upbeat, and gets you in the fighting spirit! I've only played the PSX version, but I think I'm ready to give the Sega CD version a try. Thank God for emulators lol.

  • I remember the time where i was totally obsessed with this game and eternal blue... Man, the originals... can't compare to remakes. True pieces.

  • how the hell do you save in this game

  • Just like the remake, go into Nall's menu. There just aren't any key shortcut for it.

  • who's nall, and how do I get to his menu

  • WOW! This was the first RPG I ever played and it was on the Sega CD. I watched that intro every time I played the game and it still makes me get all excited! The PSX version was all nice and pretty but honestly the original is still dear to my heart!

  • hahah oh my god, i havent seen that in years. i actually prefer this intro to the psx version's intro haahah

  • i really like lunar but never thought that it was first released in sega... the moment that i saw the sega version i was like " what the... it is much different than in psx" so ill say that lunar in psx is much better than sega.. i like the sounds in psx...

  • favorite rpg of all time. only ff4 and wild arms compare.

  • they don't compare D: no game can compare to the lunar series(all are good except for dragon song...)

  • Ahhh memories. I prefer the Japanese version of this song though (I was completly unable to find the song though. I eventually managed to get it from the Japanese version, but it was in two seperate audio files. WTF?! Alas)

  • Ho man the memories!

  • oh ya i know this game, its part of my iso collection.

the nice thing is, even though the console is dead you can still play these things (and other systems)

swing on over to gamerrealm dot net and snag some iso's and have yourself a blast.

  • Wow the memories. Intro give me chills when i hear it.

    MIss you Working design

  • someone please do a great walkthrough for this game and the sega cd version of eternal blue as well as Resident Evil for the Saturn. Much Thanks

  • this was the first rpg i ever beat. i rented it and never brought it back:)

    memories!!!!!!!!

  • I loved this game, and I beat it a few times when I still had my Sega CD......alas, the golden days of Sega are gone.

  • Intro to the best. Game. Ever.

Made the SegaCD purhcase worthwhile all by itself, and Lunar 2 was just a nice bonus.

  • Best RPG ever! The PSX remakes were weak with a watered down story, but the Sega CD was awesome.

  • Omg. As soon as the song started I began to sing it. XD I used to just turn in on to sing it. One of the greatest RPGs EVER! ;______; So many good memories!

  • COLLEST RPG INTRO EVER!

  • Amen to that!

  • I must have beat this game 3 or 4 times on the sega CD. All other versions of this game are TRASH and pale in comparison.

  • you know i just ressurected my sega cd just for this game. it still holds my save...but maybe aakurtz could help me out. Im stuck at the part by the volcano..and i think the guys supposed to make me a blimp and i need something from the volcano but i remember not passing that part cuz i couldnt get to where i needed to go to get his part. Or maybe he just wasnt making it for me. Anyway i loved the game up until that part and more than a decade later...i still havnt beaten it!

  • that area is really easy to get stuck on, probably the easiest place to get stuck on in both lunar 1 and 2.

  • You have to play your harp close to a rock somewhere in the shore. It will make the rock become a turtle that will carry you to the volcano area. If it doesn't work you have to talk to people in the closer villages that will tell you that you must do it... (somthing in a bar or tavern, I think...)

  • hey when did Sega-CD came out anyways. all i know is the nintendo supernintendo the nintendo64 gamecube playstation2 & 3. xbox & xbox 360. and the wii.

  • then it was before your time. It came out im guessing in the early 90's, just before Playstation and N64

  • sega cd was like 93. it was an add on for sega genesis.

  • The story in the PSX version was altered, nerfed/sensored imo. and caused big plotholes.

On a side note the story in Lunar2 (all versions) is based off the SegaCD and not the PSX ver. of Lunar1.

  • Lunar 1 was great,2 polished the gameplay some but had slightly weaker charatcers.

note:the PSX remakes are watered down FF clones compared to the ordinals, sure the story was more polished in the PSX versions but the gameplay itself was boring.

  • Best RPG intro ever made....well, and best RPG ever made.

  • Lunar on sega cd= quality gameing...or it was the 90's and i was like 11 eather one...

  • I miss this game. My good friend had it and he sold it. I miss them both. The music in Meribia was awesome.

  • Does someone know who sang this song?

  • is it??????

  • this version same as

lunar the silver star story complete version

  • man there was a big difference between the cd version and ps1 version

  • lunar 2 was better

  • the "complete" version was not as good as the originals, they changed too much with the newer versions.

  • probably the best rpg ever, the complete version is a better in total but the original will allways have a place in my heart since it was the first rpg I ever played... and the intro + intro song i much better on the SEGA CD

  • Lunar = Quality Gaming

  • ill let you all in on a secret that may interest you.... go to "coolroms" after you google it download most of the sega cd games you want to play, lunar one and two are up there!!! use winrar to extract the files, then set your bios to match your cpu in the emulator folder and then youve got it

  • God I love playin this game, it's the best rpg in my book

  • i love this game. it was easy to figure out that Ghaleon was a bad guy though. all you had to do was look at his eyes :)

  • wow its nice to hear this song again, funny thing is i havent heard this song in more then a decade but i still remembered it all this time, this and soul blade's theme song are forever embeded into my skull.

  • Wonderful RPG

  • I remember this song from the remake package^^ I had no idea it was the original intro when I first heard it.

  • I LOVE the old theme song. Its awesome. I wish Alex still played the harp ^-^

  • I have to say that the opening song was one of the few things the Silver Star Story Complete did better than the original Silver Star.

  • this game was the shit loved that song used to sing it every day in school

  • JUST FOR THE RECORD: Lunar... the sega CD version, is hands down the greatest RPG EVER. From begining to end, pure OWNAGE. This game changed my life. WORKING DESIGNS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SOME OF THE GREATEST RPGS and SIDE SCROLLERS EVER!

  • Working Designs just translated and localized games.

GameArts is the company that created and developped Lunar: the Silver Star.

  • What he meant was that without Working Designs, we would probably have never had the chance to play this great RPG. Working Designs was the premiere in bridging the gap between Japanese/anime style RPGs and the American gamers.

  • The first two lunar games are my favourite RPGs to date (although I've never played any FF games yet). This made the new DS travesty all the more hard to accept. Oh, and yeah the song here isnt great, doesnt really compare to the menu music for (I think) Eternal Blue, which is one of the most haunting tunes I've ever heard. But yeah props to Lunar 1 and 2!!

  • You know i remember this song being in one of the tracks. in the PS1 Remake Game Music CD that came with it.

  • <3

  • Oh, the pain is as sharp as I remember... nice intro, but that song hurts with its badness. Ow. (Then again, the Japanese version was no better.) Hey! Hey!

  • Wow, that was weird seeing this again, you must've recorded this with a video camera, pretty cool stuff. I actually own both the Sega CD and PSOne versions of BOTH Lunar games, so it's safe to say I am a HUGE Lunar fan, wow did this bring back memories.

  • Actually this was recorded directly from the Sega-CD through a direct connection to a video capture device...which makes for much higher video and audio quality!

  • Well that's cool too :) vid-capture devices kick some serious ass. I think that's awesome that you actually did that, anyone who's a fellow Lunar fan and is willing to do something like that has my respect. :)

  • Oh, this is great! I've been looking for this song for a while, it's a great song! Thank you so much for putting it up!

  • yay! I love the original theme, even though it has better graphics in the newer theme, but I still rate this one a 5 star ^_^

I love it! thank you for putting it up!

  • I love that theme! I had to steal my brother's sega cd version because it was in danger of being broken or being sold. It's well protected in my cd binder...
