Oh and it's "chase the birds down from the sky" not as you say "shakes the bird right from the sky"....For Christ sakes take this down and repost it before another true Trower fan calls you on it...As Foghorn Leghorn would say "Terrible just terrible boy"
These are not the lyrics this is someone's poor interpretation of what they think they hear. It's "make an angel loose his wings" you moron not make an inch of losers wings. You butchered this you bonehead. Don't tell me any different I just looked up the sheet music after I read this tragedy.
On this album, Robin's solos had a different phrasing. It was like he was copying the phrasing of backwards guitar but playing it forwards. Guitar players will know what I mean. Beauty! Thanks for posting.
You cannot understand the power of this song unless you've actually played the guitar part in a band , A good band , It will rip your guts out , This song use to bring the house down every time we played it.
thanks for posting this...i'm only 36 so it took my stepfather to introduce me to this stuff back in 94....i had previously been only listening to 80's hair bands...so one night my stepfather played some trower travers and srv...i've been hooked since
@1falconeye2 Thanks, I appreciate that =). Though I wish I had the patience to get some actual guitar skills myself. That would be what I'd really consider "letting the music live on".
Jimmy was the Caledonia man...from Glasgow, Scotland..........a voice so sweet and clear..........his soul still roams the hills and glens. RIP James we loved your magic voice...no one was ever as good as you......
I agree with your vid description Z. This is one of my all time favorite songs ever. In the car, at home, at a party, anywhere, it just ROCKS (especially at high dB levels). Trower had never generally gotten his due unfortunately I find. But people that know him, love him!
Thanks for these beautiful lyrics, James Dewar.. what can be said about him, nothing but great things, we miss him and will always love his great voice. I'm sitting here with my 10 year old girl listening and singing to one of her favorite Trower songs and she just loves Dewar's voice...Cheers !!!
I have been looking for this song for a long time! I used to own the record when I was a teenager...I started to think I was crazy, no one else remembers this song (except you) Thanks so much!
Procol Harum was a great band!! Please listen to As Strong as Samson! They had am incredibly talented drummer (J. B. Wilson) and Gary Brooker had a powerful voice.
This song shows the true power of the minor chord , it is the most awesome chord to solo over , you can hear the taste dripping like honey in the guitarwork , only a true poet can find words for a song of this stature , I can play it but I can't find the words to describe it , It is magic that will never be repeated.
i put a video reply link, you of course may remove it, just the scottish connection of caledonian vital energy and blessings to you for posting robin trower's epic rockin' tune here ... rippin ... totally awesome ... hail from the leiths and macumbers :)
I was also lucky enough to know Davy Pattison, lead singer for Ronnie Montrose's band , He was a friend of and attended James Dewars funeral when he passed a few years ago, These guys knew the real meaning of kick ass rock and roll.
An extremely powerful song, I was lucky enough to be lead guitarist in a band that did this song, it just freakin wails , We extended it and just brought crowds to a frenzie at the end , The structure just makes it one of the greatest of all rock songs of all time.
Thank you for finally putting one of the most under rated rockers of all time, on you tube! This makes me jump aroung like I was young again. Robin is the best any way you look at it! He can stand with the best of them, or actually stand ahead of the best, cuz he's the best! Thanks again..Mike Doty
I was dj'ing at a radio station when we got this from the record company. I couldn't believe our program director wouldn't put this in the rotation. Since hearing this, I've always wanted one of the bands I've been in to play this...the problem is we wouldn't have been able to do it justice. This is just a flat out monster rock/blues tune. Trower never gets the credit he deserves. People always leave him out of the discussion. Instead, he should be one of the leaders of those discussions.
Excellent song- sounds a bit like Uli Jon Roth's solo work, at least in approach. Amazing to see the impact Hendrix had on both of these great players.
I want to thank whoever posted this. I had the honor and I do mean honor to see Robin perform this song live in Austin, Texas in 1977. This song defines the greatness of this underappreciated guitar star. Rock On Robin
Rockin' ZeeZayZay, Thank You, by Jove! Great! Truly one of the fine moments of Robin Trower and Band - and as others say, should've been a yet bigger hit in '77 and beyond - i was in Scotland the next year to hail my Macumber clan - if you don't mind, a vid reply post ok?
StarryNightBluesBand...I am WITH you!!! This song OWNES anything on this years market, forget 1977!! Jimi/Duane/Jeff/Eric/Robin/B.B./SRV..case closed!!!
One of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time. Listen to how Robin trower hits those off key bluesy licks. He is by far one of the greatest. Who ever posted this, Thanks! Chuck

I wish I had been there at the time of Robin and Jim, or Free, Rory Gallagher, Hendrix...all those amazing, inspiring musicians.
Unfortunately I arrived in this world about 25 to 30 years too late.

thanx

Trower was a contemporary of Santana ,
its the minor chord structure , It is the way tasty music is written , Minor chords tend themselves to the very best leads ,
