  • Oh and it's "chase the birds down from the sky" not as you say "shakes the bird right from the sky"....For Christ sakes take this down and repost it before another true Trower fan calls you on it...As Foghorn Leghorn would say "Terrible just terrible boy"

  • These are not the lyrics this is someone's poor interpretation of what they think they hear. It's "make an angel loose his wings" you moron not make an inch of losers wings. You butchered this you bonehead. Don't tell me any different I just looked up the sheet music after I read this tragedy.

  • Robin Trower put on one of the best concerts I've ever seen. He kicks ass!

  • On this album, Robin's solos had a different phrasing. It was like he was copying the phrasing of backwards guitar but playing it forwards. Guitar players will know what I mean. Beauty! Thanks for posting.

  • You cannot understand the power of this song unless you've actually played the guitar part in a band , A good band , It will rip your guts out , This song use to bring the house down every time we played it.

  • Fantastic guitar work, and James Dewar is sorely missed.

  • Funk at it's best.

  • you'd set the devil free

  • Caledonia... Caledonia

    You're set forever free

Make an angel lose his wings

Make a fool right outta me

  • great job!! song with lyrics!! love to get my band to play this!!

  • Robin trower,a true musican,nobodys better.

  • You guys have to understand the Scots: the women are truly wild, truly dionysiac: I loved when my ship went to Edinburgh.

  • My favorite Trower song. James and Robin are both on fire. That solo just rips too.

  • I saw Trower as a warm up for Leslie West Louisville Ky, probly late 70s early 80,cost about 10 bucks, the good ole days

  • I took my 6 yrs younger brother to his first concert back in the 70s. Robin Trower and Wishbone Ash.

    bwlynn73

You need to call your dad and thank him again. ☺

  • Best song ever.

  • it's "Make an Angel Lose It's Wings"....not "inch of a losers wings" ....that doesn't even make sense

  • Aha! One of us is sober. Good call. How come the rest of us didn't catch this? Seriously, this is an awesome song.

  • Also, I think it says, "satisfy my soul" instead of inside my soul, or whatever. What say you Fanofald?

  • Your absalutly right, it's satisfy my soul.

  • thanks for posting this...i'm only 36 so it took my stepfather to introduce me to this stuff back in 94....i had previously been only listening to 80's hair bands...so one night my stepfather played some trower travers and srv...i've been hooked since

  • I wish I had been there at the time of Robin and Jim, or Free, Rory Gallagher, Hendrix...all those amazing, inspiring musicians.

Unfortunately I arrived in this world about 25 to 30 years too late.

  • @Motorsheep werd son i totally agree

  • @Motorsheep Fortunately, the music lives on through people like you!

  • @1falconeye2 Thanks, I appreciate that =). Though I wish I had the patience to get some actual guitar skills myself. That would be what I'd really consider "letting the music live on".

  • never heard this before. sounds like Trower is trying some Santana on. very interesting compared to most of Trower's collection.

    thanx

  • Trower was a contemporary of Santana ,

its the minor chord structure , It is the way tasty music is written , Minor chords tend themselves to the very best leads ,

  • Listening to Robin Trower back in the day, made many of us girls get naughty! LOOOOOVE HIM!!!!!!!

  • Jimmy was the Caledonia man...from Glasgow, Scotland..........a voice so sweet and clear..........his soul still roams the hills and glens. RIP James we loved your magic voice...no one was ever as good as you......

  • I have fond memories of this time in history. The best. The stuff today cant not compair in any way jsut rap and crap.

  • I agree with your vid description Z. This is one of my all time favorite songs ever. In the car, at home, at a party, anywhere, it just ROCKS (especially at high dB levels). Trower had never generally gotten his due unfortunately I find. But people that know him, love him!

  • And if you have it up at high dB, the bass line will rock you out of your chair!!!

  • Thanks for these beautiful lyrics, James Dewar.. what can be said about him, nothing but great things, we miss him and will always love his great voice. I'm sitting here with my 10 year old girl listening and singing to one of her favorite Trower songs and she just loves Dewar's voice...Cheers !!!

  • SWEETEST!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • This is quite possibly my most favourite Trower song. Jimmy Dewar's vocals on it are just amazing. Its got the 70s written all over it.

  • Hey CCLady, I saw Robin at the HOB too. Awesome show.

  • Just saw Robin tonight! He' still got it yeah......!

  • Did you see him at the Royal Oak Music Theatre? I taped the show on video from the second row.

  • Hi dc , no I saw him at the House of Blues. That's cool that you were able to tape your show!

  • marvellous...thanks

  • Thanks,

Make an angel lose his wings

    Yay!

There's a slow song from the same album (Long Misty Days) called "I Can't Live Without You" that is sweet, too.

  • well reminded..one of the best Trower songs "guitar-playing wise" that I can remember, thought the lyrics are super cheesy :)

  • Awesome song...you can buy it on itunes!!

  • I have been looking for this song for a long time! I used to own the record when I was a teenager...I started to think I was crazy, no one else remembers this song (except you) Thanks so much!

  • hey meggiemeown i remember! this song rocks!!!

  • Awesome. I haven't heard it in years. Wore the record out in the 70's.

Thanks for posting. Thanks for youtube.

  • Triple Z, A great post. Good Job!!!

Take a buck outa petty cash.

  • Jimmy rates with Ian Gillian , Dio, Steve Marriot , and very few others , he is a legend

  • jimmy dewar..voice of the gods

  • SLILL one of the best songs of all time! Trower never got the credit he deserved. Guitar Wizard!!

  • I understand why RT had to leave Procol Harum. He needed much more space in orderto express his huge potentiality!

    What a guitar player!!

  • Saw Robin with Jack Bruce a few weeks ago. Procol Harum ? Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrh.

  • Procol Harum was a great band!! Please listen to As Strong as Samson! They had am incredibly talented drummer (J. B. Wilson) and Gary Brooker had a powerful voice.

  • song for true goddess love :) lol

  • This song shows the true power of the minor chord , it is the most awesome chord to solo over , you can hear the taste dripping like honey in the guitarwork , only a true poet can find words for a song of this stature , I can play it but I can't find the words to describe it , It is magic that will never be repeated.

  • i put a video reply link, you of course may remove it, just the scottish connection of caledonian vital energy and blessings to you for posting robin trower's epic rockin' tune here ... rippin ... totally awesome ... hail from the leiths and macumbers :)

  • gives me goooseee bumps of the good old 70 es

  • Been lookin for this forever. Pure passion!

  • Like Jimmy's singing, so I dance my a....s off to this!

  • it has been 20 years since I've heard this thank you!!!!!

  • In my opinion, one of THE finest lead guitar moments in Rock history.

  • beginning of this song has same notes

from a hendix tune but i cant remember which one Anybody?

  • I was also lucky enough to know Davy Pattison, lead singer for Ronnie Montrose's band , He was a friend of and attended James Dewars funeral when he passed a few years ago, These guys knew the real meaning of kick ass rock and roll.

  • An extremely powerful song, I was lucky enough to be lead guitarist in a band that did this song, it just freakin wails , We extended it and just brought crowds to a frenzie at the end , The structure just makes it one of the greatest of all rock songs of all time.

  • Robin Trower and James Dewar were DEADLY!!! This song is ALL a song sould be!!!

  • 'give me reason to believe

    and i dont wonder why'

o baby baby that line is sweet

sometimes it's better not ask questions

answer might turn something real good

    real bad real quick

    know what i mean

    thanks for the 'tube

oughta hav a million hits but hey what can you say

  • Nice, well done!

  • Thank you, God Bless you and Merry Christmas, to the person who posted Caledonia!

  • Thank you for finally putting one of the most under rated rockers of all time, on you tube! This makes me jump aroung like I was young again. Robin is the best any way you look at it! He can stand with the best of them, or actually stand ahead of the best, cuz he's the best! Thanks again..Mike Doty

  • ytodekim...I thought I was the only one!!

  • great rock n roll song from Robin Trower

    lol

  • Robin Trower blows aways anyone playing today!!

  • Wow thanks so much for putting this up.

  • Second verse is:

    Caledonia Caledonia

    You set the devil free

Make an angel lose his wings

Make a fool right out of me

  • Make an angel lose his wings fits better!

  • smokin hot, :) oh wow, Robin Trower Band !!!

  • I was dj'ing at a radio station when we got this from the record company. I couldn't believe our program director wouldn't put this in the rotation. Since hearing this, I've always wanted one of the bands I've been in to play this...the problem is we wouldn't have been able to do it justice. This is just a flat out monster rock/blues tune. Trower never gets the credit he deserves. People always leave him out of the discussion. Instead, he should be one of the leaders of those discussions.

  • Excellent song- sounds a bit like Uli Jon Roth's solo work, at least in approach. Amazing to see the impact Hendrix had on both of these great players.

  • I have a live version from 1977 with Rustee Allen that just rocks - and Dewar's vocals are outstanding. I'll post it when I get a chance.

  • What a great song ,brings back so many great memories,[ RIP ] James Dewar what a voice,Yhnx so much for sharing!

    **********!

  • this song is beast

  • Robin Trower is a master that SRV listened and learned from...can't prove it, just KNOW!!

  • SRV got into a fistfight with his brother when he called him a "Shitty Texas Trower"

  • SRV's bro was jealous of him...couldn't hold SRV's pick!!!

  • SRV followed you...to the Bridge of Sighs

  • I want to thank whoever posted this. I had the honor and I do mean honor to see Robin perform this song live in Austin, Texas in 1977. This song defines the greatness of this underappreciated guitar star. Rock On Robin

  • I've loved Trower since the 80's.

I heard he was influenced by Hendrix.

One of the best guitarists ever. Rock on Robin.

  • this song video deserves only 5 star ratings !

  • rockin

  • Rockin' ZeeZayZay, Thank You, by Jove! Great! Truly one of the fine moments of Robin Trower and Band - and as others say, should've been a yet bigger hit in '77 and beyond - i was in Scotland the next year to hail my Macumber clan - if you don't mind, a vid reply post ok?

  • StarryNightBluesBand...I am WITH you!!! This song OWNES anything on this years market, forget 1977!! Jimi/Duane/Jeff/Eric/Robin/B.B./SRV..case closed!!!

  • Truly one of the best ever. Thanks.

  • Off key? Yeah right.

  • One of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time. Listen to how Robin trower hits those off key bluesy licks. He is by far one of the greatest. Who ever posted this, Thanks! Chuck

  • Finally! You competely rule. Thanks for this!
