  • lol pathetic little man?? he's one of the all-time greats you ignorANUS...best doubles player ever, greatest volleyer ever, had the winningest single-season singles record in history...you cannot be serious.

  • John McEnroe .... what a turn-off.

This is not fun to watch, pathetic little man.

  • The only jerk is you John, get off the drugs you lunatic. You got what you deserved in the end you fool.Tatum O'neil said you regually took drugs, disapointing they didn't drug test you cos you embarassed the sport for too long.Good player but a complete clown, should've been locked up in a lunatic asylum

  • @kadaitcha72 fuck off loser he was a great player that wanted to win and if the ump was going to cheat him out of it in his mind he'd let him know... don't fuck with john mcenroe

  • @rangerfreak616 nobody said he wasn't a great player,i was just saying that to everyone other than the americans he was an embarassment to the sport, look at the way he acted,he admitted he was on drugs & it showed by his attitude.Who did he think he was calling an UMPIRE a jerk???

  • fun fact: Some of the water hit the swedish king who watched the match xD

  • So THAT'S what they mean by Stockholm Syndrome!

  • if they had the challenge system back in the day, I hate to say it but John McEnroe would not have been the character we know him as. And there will never be another one again.

  • ANSWER MY QUESTION JERK!! HAHAHAHA!!!!

  • @MrPernell27 No matter the type of equipment, 6 foot 3 inches Robin Soderling would plaster 5 foot 8 inches Laver 6-2, 6-2, 6-0 even if Laver used a modern racquet and Soderling used a wooden one

  • are they using it as an ad for their own tourney LOL

  • YEAH!!! Pure entertainment!

  • Mac was my favorite to watch. He had a unique style of play, fast hands and an Irish temper which made for great drama.

  • You sound like another person stuck in the past not realizing how different the game was. You probably would rank Bill Tilden in the top 5. Federer, Sampras, Borg, Lendle, Laver

  • Lendl says Laver was the best Tennis player before Rodger.

  • Of course they are inthe equation. As for what Lendle said about Laver. Doesn't matter, everyone had a hero. Doesn't change the simple FACT that laver DID NOT play the best players in 1962, and in 1969 3/4 were on grass. The feild wasn't as deep, and ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about tennis knows Federer and Sampras would OWN laver!

  • @MrPernell27

Laver could not play betwen 1962 and 1969, otherwise tha story would have been different. About be so certain that Federer and Sampras would own Lever, I'd like to see them play Laver if Laver was given a modern day TRAINING REGIME and Federer and Sampras were to play with a WOODEN RACKET ! Then we can start say something.

  • @EntropyMartini Laver did play in 62 and 69, furthermore Roy Emerson win more majors and Ken rosewall had a winon. Record against him. As for Sampras and Deseret playing with a wooden racquet, it's odvious from their games that they would have been just fine with wood racquets. 5'8, 145lb Laver would get his ass kicked by 6'1,181lb federer and by Sampras. No matter what equipment they used.

  • I love how he hit the cans, sit down, and then stand up again just to hit em one more time!

    haha! Hilarious!

  • answer mah quESTION!! THE QUESTION JERK!!

  • Ah well we'll have to agree to disagree.

McEnroe would play with guys like Djokovic and Nadal killing them at the net with his peerless volleying like he did Lendl who was a better version of those guys.

Then put the likes of Nadal back then with a wooden racket and McEnroe would humiliate him. I'm also a Nadal fan btw and he's a great clay courter perhaps as good as Borg but on a fast surface Mac would kill him.

Fed would give him a contest but I think McEnroe would edge him out most times.

  • That's like saying Tiger Woods is a very good golfer! McEnroe was the most talented player ever full stop. With the exception of the almost as gifted swiss genius the rest today would get beaten like a rented mule by Mac in his prime.

  • @twinflame93

Yea, McEnroe was great but Federer is greater. He's considered by most experts and players alike as the greatest of all time and his career isn't over yet. There would be no difference if Federer, Nadal or anyone else grew up using wooden rackets, it's about what you're used to using. Players are also judged by the quality of their opponents. Today's game is much faster and more labour intensive. The required fitness level alone is probably beyond what McEnroe had.

  • Yes but in his day McEnroe was the best. He did what was required to win. He had the greastest hands in tennis and he moved like a cat. You can't compare players from different eras. And what about Rod Laver?

  • @Schrittwieser I'd say Laver is a close second to Federer and was better than McEnroe. I think you can compare players if you look at the competition they had and how they played. You can also do that by comparing the playing style of today. I said before, the fitness level now required is probably beyond what these guys had. The game is much faster and Gruelling. Plus better training techniques and heath factor too today Its the job of todays players to better the previous generations.

  • Laver is way overrated. He played when 3 of the 4 majors were on grass, so no clay court spealists. The first time we won the grandslam he didn't even play the best players cause they weren;t allowed to play. Gonzales, and Kramer would have owned Laver. Mcenroe, Sampras, and especially Federer would have kicked laver's ass.

  • Gonzales and Kramer would have owned Laver. Yhey are not even in the equation.

  • wilkoman it was a different game in the 60's,70's and 80's. I don't know how old u r? And if u r familiar with John's life. But he stayed at home and lived with his parents. He was Harry Hopman's last pupil. No one had hands like his. Mac was a bad boy he lived in NYC. He partied with Led Zep and the Stones. He never trained,But he still has the best record of anyone for 1 yr. 1984.And he was more exciting to watch than anyone!

  • @Schrittwieser Partying could mean anything. It doesn't necessarily mean that he was staying up all hours, drinking booze and taking class A drugs. You'd have to be super human to not train and still be a top ranked player, was he playing chumps most his career? Lets face it, that's just impossible! High fitness is very important, so I don't believe it. If that's true that just proves that fitness wasn't a big issue back then and he would get hammered if he played now.

  • KAZ Believe me he partied, he went to Studio 54 with Vitas. Vitas, Borg and Mac partied.

  • @Schrittwieser Again, that doesn't mean he abused his body though. As far as I know he never took partying to the level that his friends did as he was worrying what it would do to his game. He knew it probably would hurt his career. He's bad but he's not stupid.

I'm an athlete. My friends and I know by experience what too much partying can do to our performance. It's all-bad. You can't party on Saturday and win a grand slam final on Sunday! I don't care who or how fit you are.

  • did John ever marry?

  • he married tatum o'neal, and is now married to a muscian named patty smyth

  • I don't know how old u r Pernell but I hope very young. Laver is regarded by most Pros as the best player before Rodger Federer. Ivan Lendl quote. " I have given up trying to decide who was is the best of all time. It was laver before 2000 and Rodger after 2000." Laver was McEnroe's idle. I hope u got to see him play. I don't care about the service, he dominated the sport!!!

  • Yeh 84-3 I think it was and it's still the best ever winning %. Barring a meltdown in the FO final it could have been 85-2 with three Grand Slams.

  • McEnroe + Roddick = crybabies.

  • love that guy!

  • John, John...he's our man...if he can't do it...EVERYBODY ELSE CAN!!

  • Did anyone in the front row get a spray of the Gatorade?

  • just the King of Sweden...

he got suspended a few weeks from the tour for that (but he still won the tournament)

  • What a child

  • lmfao now thats funny stuff

  • i used to love it when mcenroe lost it , i remember i used to look forward to every tournament just because of his outbursts lol

  • Verbal abuse is wrong!!! It does not matter if the person is male, female, black or white!! This is wrong!!!!

  • I don't know how Mcenroe was able to get away with all that he did. I wish he had been fined as heavily as Serena was or kicked out altogether. Why did they put up with this jerk?

  • He got away with it because he was the most gifted and entertaining player in the history of the game to watch. This guy filled the stands. All the pros came out to watch him play. He was awesome and the outburts added to his lure.

  • Lets face it folks.Tennis is like watching paint dry. The only time that i have ever watched it while channel surfing around was when that grunting russian chick wud be playing or when Johnnie Mac playing way back when.

  • Haha XD

  • Yea Johnny Mac was the center of attraction on the Pro tour, but still, his tirades like this were unacceptable. People perceived him as a "spoiled brat Yank", but he was only like this on the tennis courts. He didnt trust the linesmans calls, and I have to agree that some of the Umpires at Wimbeldon are really pathetic. The one had really thick glasses!

  • He was not only like this on the court. I've known several people who have met him over the yrs and he acts like a dick when you meet him. Like he'd rather be set on fire then say 2 words to you. He's just an overated little bitch.

  • Ah bullshit the guy was a creep. He did this as much to throw off the other guy as much as anything. He played to the grandstand and was a prick as a human being.

  • When Mac retired, Tennis was like a well with no water. Watching him was entertaining and, and his games were like the main events on TV.

  • Those plastic cups are very intimidating. They were getting on my nerves too.

  • After John, tenis is really boring.

  • @svetobrdo those are the words of a guy who is not a REAL tennis fan

nah ur kinda right it was fun with john:P

  • The best part is, he came back to win the match.

  • He sure did - and the whole tournament. Järryd in this semifinal and Wilander in the final.

  • Back then, they couldn't have suspended him from Tennis? After all the tantrums he has thrown, why couldn't they just disqualify him for an entire season or two?

  • I've never seen anyone hit a plastic cup with such accuracy

  • Imagine how well the cup would fly given today's racquets....

  • @Tata996 yeah mcEnroe is the king of accuracy with that racket!

  • johns mac's backhand is awesome.,havn't seen a player nowadays with a backhand as deceptive as his.

  • imagine how boring tennis would be those days without john mac....he was the reason why tennis is one of the most watch sports during those days....your my idol john

  • LOL !! The one and only, McEnroe !!

  • Wow, he has issues. :D

  • Did he not marry "Tantrum" O Neil and the marriage was full of Tantrums he he he!

  • LOL.

  • Big Mc!!!!

  • no one could swat that drink better than mac.

  • Exactly, look at that backhand shot at those cups. Nobody in the WORLD has that kind of skill swatting cups of water backhanded. :-D

  • LMAO!!!

  • what a div

  • I'd say you're right about that guy being a little clueless. But actually I'd say Federer has amazing feathery touch as well. He doesn't just rely on racquet technology... like how he can return Roddick's serve so easily while barely swinging. We also have to realize that faster ball speeds means quicker reflexes are needed, and more agility. Personally I'd say some of the players around today have been trained to be a lot more agile and quick due to how much pace is being put on shots.

  • hahaha....love McEnroe

    smack....'code violation'

    smack....'abuse of racket'

if only fed had as much frustration in him he might have got #14 a lot earlier!

  • yeah ..agree :-)

or he might get only one ..

at that times tennis was less intense,

nwo you need to have a more focus and stone face..!

  • They represent the USA u ignorant idiot..

  • the expression "goes bananas" made me laugh lol

  • Are you retarded? Do you ever think about racket technology, balls and court surface and how much things have changed? Anybody with any tennis knowledge would just laugh in your face right now.

  • Yes but at the end of the day not all of the players back then would have had the ability to be able to use the new faster raquets and courts most athletes back then wouldnt thats why we have so few amazing tennis players at any one time.

  • Hilarious you are. You obviously know jack-all about tennis.

  • oooooo hitting me where it hurts dude don't over do it i might cry.

  • Well it is obviously the truth.

  • go fuck yourself hitler

  • What the heck has jewe blood got to do with his temper? You kidding me? Are you trying to bring racial talk into this? Pathetic!

  • who the fuck cares if he's jewish you retards? He's irish, anyways.

  • LOVE the way he smashes the table. And then, after a moment of quiet reflection, gets up and trashes it again!!

  • such a stupid person

  • right but you're the one who came here to watch it. he got paid a shit load of money, so if anyone here is stupid it's you.

  • I think you hit the nail right on the head. I think hes Jewish because he appeared on the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm with Larry David. Most of the co stars on that show are Jewish.

  • hey don't smash the orange drink! my mama prepared that!

  • I love you Mac ! Jag såg denna semifinal mot Anders Järryd. Ett typiskt tecken att vilken annan spelare som helst hade fått matchstraff. Nu var dock spelaren John McEnroe, vilket innebar att han inte fick det för turneringens skull.

  • Biggest ASSHOLE ever!

  • But great

  • The QUESTION, Jerk!!!

Fuck, this guy owns that poofter Federer.

  • Thats epic=)

  • He should go down in history books as the worst sportsman ever.

If I'd been the umpire he wouldn't have had a career.

I'd have followed him around from tournament to tournament and disqualified him the second he opened his clap trap.

He'd of spent his life selling up large fries at McDonalds where he deserves to be.

  • You sound retarded, the man was a genius and filled the stands. Everyone came out to watch him play. He was explosive and more talented than anyone ever.

  • That's no excuse for acting like a spolit brat and getting away with contravening the rules. They should have made an example by defaulting him early on in his career. That would have been warning enough for McEnroe and other players. As it is, when he was eventually defaulted at the 1990 Australian Open he was past his prime.

  • I hear ya!

Yeah, someone should have stood up to him. It's kinda of funny how everyone was afrain of him, players, umpires, the press, etc. I is just a little guy, not even six feet tall, and 165 lbs. He is just a punk, someone should of just kicked the shit out of him.

  • Luckily he did not have to face such frustrated people like you seem to be...

  • I think Adam Sandler's short fuse movie characters are ALL based on John's outbursts... :D lol

  • lol Mac was even in mr deeds. but he dint go too bazirk. he just jumped 10 feet high to avoid an oncoming car and swore at the driver. but they had a real ragin time!

  • Oh man, yes! I remember now! :D

  • Is John already working with Federer, cos' I saw that swiss brat smashing his racket in Miami last week ?

  • swiss brat? you're a fucking idot

  • Mac could get away with in '84 because of how dominant he was(82-3).

  • sounds like he got disqualified at the end of this video.

  • correct - he was. Umpire awarded the game on points

  • answer my ... QUUEEEESTTIIOOOOOONWRWETTJWORTKPO!!!!!!!

  • LEGEND

  • In his autobiography he says that soda water splashed the King of Sweden who was sitting in the front row.

  • BRILLIANT! Thankyou for writing that. I knew I'd heard that somewhere about the King of Sweden getting splashed but couldn't remember where for years. Even none of the supposed brilliant text answer services could find out if the king was there or got splashed either!

I'm going to get his autobiography now!

  • my QUESGGRRRRSSGGRRSSSTTTIONNN

  • NOT EVEN I DO THAT KINDA SHIT!!!

  • But then again, who would know? Because "You" are NOBODY.

  • Haha, I love that expression...."goes bananas" hehe

    *giggles away*

  • GREAT TIP!!!

On this, or any other video-

load the video & in the address bar, add on to the existing address with NO space "&fmt=18" (WITHOUT quotation marks obviously) This makes every video slightly better quality video and sound. Go ahead try it.

I knew about the blue button beneath the video screen saying "watch in high quality" was there for some videos, and i knew that it added &fmt=18 to the address bar, but i didn't know u could type it yourself for EVERY video. Enjoy!

  • SWEAT!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a psycho, but that's why we love him.

  • give this ape another banana

  • this is guy is sooo funny....

  • u kno what i just thought of....imagine will ferrell playing john mcenroe in a movie. perfection at its best!

  • lmao. mcenroe is love!

  • I wonder what it would have been like if he played today with the challenge replay thing

  • i think he would of been alot quieter. but still a punk im sure lol

  • lol! awesome!!!! put that through umpires ass!

  • its like hes acting. when i get mad, I destroy. people get thrown through windshields of cars. if he were really mad, hed be ass raping the line judge.

  • man, nobody throws fits like this anymore. dammit. this kind of shit would have been SO exciting to watch.

  • I love it that he goes back for another swing. :p

  • what a waist of good juice

  • crazy jejejej but the best

  • legend

  • What a baby!

  • that is not passion, is a stupid attutide.

  • what a phsyco!!

  • That´s what tennis needs nowadays. He never hurt anybody,he had passion.

  • I think he was a twat.

  • He was great!

  • i love his passion - he was so human and yet so divine when he played :)

  • Why the fuck would that umpire not answer the question?. He was just being a jerk.

  • the question, jerk!! lol

  • What makes this so hysterical is that tennis is supposed to be a gentlemens game.

  • same sort of comedy as the movie happy guilmore. its just hilarious to watch people go apeshit in those kinds of sports.

  • its all show

  • Lmao classic stuff. We need some real characters back in tennis, instead of these robots we have today.

  • Holy...shit. ROFL! This is the biggest tantrum I've ever seen anyone do.

  • Not the biggest McEnroe was thrown out of the Austrailian Open for telling the Umpire "go fuck your mother"

  • shut the fuck up you bastard

  • He was just a clown.

    Americans love clowns...

  • he beat the shit out of a lot of foreigners so...ill take my chances on him or sampras or agassi anyday

  • postmodernism has reached the point where people gets to love monsters. i wonder if he throws tantrums on court only.

  • 0:01 - 0:03 THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAAAAA

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • i wish he was still playing

  • Yes, there just aren't any personalities these days. Theyr'e all automatons.

  • No, they are just not jerks, you fuckin retard

  • "Sebhelyesfarku" (oh wow what a clever name, I wish I was that witty) I suggest you be careful who you make insulting comments to pal. If you talk like that directly to someone it won't be long before you get clobbered.

  • I crapped my pants motherfucker. suck my wet fart

  • Sebhelyesfarku? i dnt get it?

  • whata douche

  • ah. you gotta love mcenroe.

  • the best plaayer ever

  • Answer the QUESTION! THE QUESTION! ANSWER THE QUESTION YOU JERK!

    haha, that is hilarious...

  • the QUESTION!!!... jerk

  • Answer my QUESTION!!!

  • ROFLMFAO!!! mcenroe was awesome!

  • i won't be surprised at all to see it happen. will ferrel makes alot of sports movies and i think tennis is coming up, and who else can his character get inspiration from? it's gotta be the Mac!! with all the screaming, raquette breaking, it's gonna be one hell of a movie!

  • Mac, the little crybaby. Here, have some coke and cool down. ;)

    Junkie boy!

  • Little bitch mcenroe

  • I watched Johnny Mac play in the late 70's and through the 80's , he took the stuffines out of Wimbledon, yes he got overheated , yes he wasnt as balanced emotinally as Borg who he eventually beat, but he drew me into this great game of tennis, dont think the bland Borg would have done the same. Today his commentary and style is sublime on the bbc. Johnny Mac for Prime Minister tee hee!!

  • Will Ferrel should make a movie about him!! that'll be great!!

i see similarities in the two

  • That would be gteat!!

  • lol good idea

  • dude that's an AWESOME idea! lol you're so right, i could definitely see will playing john macenroe!!

  • I agree: that is a great idea!!

  • what the smack was that??...wow!!!!!

  • tennis tyson but funnier and cooler
