It looks like wood nettle to me but that's kind of a silly nit-pick. Your way of smashing it up seems to be much more effective than how I've done it in the past. Thanks for the vid
It very well could be Wood Nettle. I have always heard it called stinging nettle in these parts. I had another guy ask that same question on Bushcraft USA.
I'm not sure what was more distracting, the chewing gum or the mosquito.

you can remove the stingers easily--just run it thru your hands a few times while wearing gloves or holding a piece of cloth or leather
