  • i wanna buy this record!!

  • the most impressive is the sound quality of this old machine.

  • it's a steel needle!

  • That tune is very familiar. I recall that same band had another song titled "Play Me".

  • More like 1930-32 than 1939, but a nice machine....

  • Thanks for this brilliant video. Its really interesting to see what old record players look like.

Out of interest, did record players like this continue to be manufactured during World War 2?

  • @Meanmanmartin2007 - very few radios or record players were made during WW2 as all non essential prodution was swithched to help the war effort. Radios and record players on the whole were deemed non essential. A few utility radio sets were produced - but other than that it was mend and make do. After the war and all through the 40's although radios and record players were made in the UK they were for export only - money / taxes received were used to help clear the massive war debt.

  • @SwingBandHeaven Thanks for taking the time to explain that. It was one of those things I'd never thought about before.

  • Is the pickup ceramic or magnetic type?

  • @CoolDudeClem

its proporly a early magnetic moving coil cartridge the coil on those where made out of very fine wire and they had very many turns so they could make a very strong signal the reson for that was so they dident need to have a other stage of amplyfication.

  • whats the name of this song???

  • A beauty for the eyes and ears. wonderful!
