I am HFA and I have been playing Violent Games with guns ETC. and I know what is Pixels on a Screen and what is Real Life. I played GTA I and II when I was young.
My lovely little boy has autism and ADHD. We get the stares and the occasional comment too. I try and ignore them. It is very difficult though as my son is aware that people stare at him and so quite understandably he gets very angry with them. Those people need to watch this wonderful video and there should be more autism awareness info on tv then eventually people might be a bit more understanding.
Our local Autism Program made business cards for parents to hand out to those people who stare or make comments, these work great. They are very nicely worded and can be handed to the person instead of us parents always having to explain. People are mean and critical of us parents on the ASD journey.
We need TV commercials like this to show they're no different really. Ignorant people to Autism make things so much harder for the parents and children. There are alot of Teachers that are still ignorant about Autism. I've has to take my son out of a school because I found out after 3 years of hell they didnt have a clue about Autism. Shame shame shame. Sorry to vent but what better way to do it. Thanks!
@keonmeka I can't agree more. A lot of people don't know about autism, and give you looks and sometimes comment. It IS hard because it's an invisible disability. It is not like a person in a wheelchair, who gets all the respect in the world. We've encountered situations where even after explaining the behavior to a stranger, they don't even understand or feel sorry. We really need autism awareness.
What do I see when I watch this video? A beautiful boy with his loving father, forgive people for their ignorance, there are many misunderstood disabilities.
I know the feeling, My granddaughters have autism. People think when they have a meltdown that we don't discipline them. That is not the case. People who are around children with autism have to have tons of patience!!! Obviously people who make such comments have little or no patience.
I love your videos. You are so right the stares,comments,etc... and so many people saying he doesn't look like theres anything "WRONG" with him. My answer is always the same Thats because there isn't anything wrong with him, he's perfect.
I really like this video exspecially the cooments about the people at stores..We get those looks all the time, like we are the worst parents in the world. I hate that cause thruth be told most of us with kids on the spectrum are far more loving and involved then they have ever had to be!
I have two children, Dylan, 9, with autism and ADHD, and Erika, 6, with neither. I have gotten plenty of those looks as well. I learned to tell myself that they are staring because he is soooo good looking. By the way, he is. People often say, "He doesn't look like he's autistic" as if they should look different. More awareness is the key. Don't let the ignorant get you down. We know we are good parents, that's why we are given such special, unique children!
I am having a wonderful time sharing in your world with your child with autism. I am the mom of a young adult fresh out of the public school system. He's an awesome kid who loves cars but prefers that someone else drives. He does volunteer work. Everybody loves him.
Im an autism savant, instead of lightening fast mental calculations, for me its lightening fast creativity. I am looking to meet others who are the same.
this is really sad, and im glad you love him. im in jrotc now and next week we are holding a fundraiser to help fund research for autism. Our goal is $2,000. Have a long and happy life, angel.
I'm tired of all the put-downs that other people (and myself)have had to deal with all our lives. I'm glad that this video is talking about how similar we actually all are. Thanks for making the video!
The comments here them selves make me sad :) No one in life is the same. There are many people and many dissabilities. People with none don't realise how seriously lucky they are. My older brother has downsyndrom and it's hard to understand how some people have never heard of it before.
Beautiful video and sentiments. I also have an autistic 11-year old boy. I absolutely adore him and look forward to spending every day of the rest of my life with him. Trials and tribulations included. The entire human race should have some autisitc attributes. No prejudice, racism, hate or the need to intentionally hurt others. We could all enjoy some of the joy that these kids enjoy from the very simple things in life.
I actually started crying because I know the exact feeling and I feel so much the way you do and the song really hits home. My son is also autistic he is 6 he is also my angel. I love him so much it hurts.
Yes. like any one without autism he likes playing games
and getting cheats. to be honest you will know he is not the of the right age for this game but he did finish it in two days. THousands if not millions of children will play this game. But daniel unlike some that are not autistic knows the difference between fiction and fact. In fact Daniel likes history for that one thing. its proven fact. So dont worry he is not libel to go around shooting people and taking cars.
From personally having an older brother with autism, I am aware of what others think of these angels 9 and i mean it literally ) I think that anyone who have questions about autism should see this video. Kudos

Thanks for this brilliant and touching video. I've had a lot of rubbish about 'you can't be autistic, you can talk'.
