My wife and I were called to a relatives farm a few years back. A small dog had been found during the night laying in the mud and the rain. My sister in law had decided that we needed a dog, and that it was this one. One leg was matted to his body, she is a hair stylist and cut it loose and then shaved him. He was so underweight that he looked like a cartoon dog with head too big. He put on weight and started to use his atrophied leg. Even now he has bad dreams, but he is sleeping beside me now.
Aggresive or not. Cockers need to be groomed, This is a serious case of neglect. They prior owners should have been prosecuted. At least the poor dog was taken away from these animal abusers
OMG!!!! some people r messed up in the head to do that kind of harm to a poor helpless animal 8D He needs a loving family who WILL take care of him. But he looks alot happier now that he is all clean!!! <3
you know, I ended up having to sue the city, who in turn named the owner as a co-defendant..the people were ordered to pay me in small claims court and although I had to take them back to court for non payment..the day before we were to go in..I miraculously got a check in the mail... they may not have gotten prosecuted but I did get to sue them in small claims. Someone has to make an example of this and make them get something! They are lucky they didnt' get a major fine... dirtbags
What a great way to spend 2 hours eh?! Can only imagine how much better that dog would've felt. Very difficult to prosecute idiots like that unfortunately. Oh well, can only be glad the dog is no longer suffering.
i commend you for what you did, that poor dog, those people should never be able to own another animal. I am also a groomer and i can tell you some horror stories about some of the animals i have groomed, one was a teacup yorkie who was matted so bad he couldn't open his mouth, he had puss pockets in the matting around his mouth and an awful stench coming from that area, i worked for the owner of the grooming parlor and i asked her to call animal control, when i shaved this tiny baby down

@F8doggie , continued, when i shaved him down and opened the mats around his mouth his teeth came out inside of the mats, he had maggots around his vent where feces was trapped in pockets of matted hair and urine, his little peepee was matted over so his waste staid right there, my boss wouldn't let me report this man and i so wanted to take that little baby home with me, he was just a skeleton under the mats because he couldn't eat, his mouth was totally matted shut and his teeth fell out

Well, the dog was rehomed...but to date the owners have not been charged although the paperwork has been drawn up. That is up to the police dept. who apparently doesn't take things as seriously as I do. And of course I have NOT been paid. (not that I wouldn't have turned around and donated it back to the pound but still)
If they don't charge them I don't get paid. I do not want the city to pay the bill. Guess I'll have to get on our police chief AGAIN.

What ever happened to the situation? I love how you said "I dictate my prices'. 125 was less than I would have charged to groom the dog, so the owner got off easy if that's all they paid. Did the owners regain custody of this dog?! please tell me no..
There have been a lot of changes put in place because of this case and another case that had happened during the same time. Sandy does an amazing job grooming and has a heart of gold. I wish she could be paid but the only way that could happen is if the city paid her.
