  • Great videos. Some I don't fully agree with but this one is very good. Consistent exercise and calorie deficit....be prepared to wait until you see/feel results. Trust it is happening. Don't eat more because you are exercising :-)

  • I do have a question though, if anyone can answer. My girlfriend is having a bit of trouble losing weight, and a lot of it comes from childhood eating habits and why she was able to lose 100lbs, but over the last year, it's come to a halt. She has two overweight parents and was diagnosed with PCOS. Her body has trouble recognizing insulin so it will pretty much torture her until she gives it sugar and she has acid reflux. Any suggestions on helping her lose weight naturally? About 230lbs now.

  • u eat fast food... ya u will lose weight along with muscle..and proabally be a fatter but weigh less...basicaly u lose muscle and gain fat...muscle weighs more than fat, fat takes up more valume

  • @vietguy808 1 lb of muscle weighs the same as 1 lb of fat. Muscle is more dense. And what you eat effects your overall health more than muscle vs fat ratio. Fast foods normally have "meat" that can still help with muscle repair. Though, the lack of overall nutrition will probably cause general weakness and lack of energy, so you won't be able to work out to your full potential and your gains have a high chance of stopping in their tracks.

  • Weight Watchers is great because you can translate your daily workouts into extra food while still losing weight.

  • im 13 ive been weight lifitng for a while my friend said i stunt my growth is this true? dont answeer it on your blogtalk radio cuz i cant load it but please DOES WEIGHT LIFTING STUNT GROWTH? im pretty ripped im 7 percent body fat broad back im 13 HELP

  • Steve you need to have your own TV show, and bash on these worthless fitness products and health supplements. I glue my eyes on my TV whenever you were on because I know you practice what you preach.

  • @uberkewl19 Thanks! I'm hoping! I also host a Sat. morning radio show from 9-10 am EST on 1340 am Tan Talk radio. Call in & ask me your weight loss & fitness questions. 1-866-826-1340 tantalk1340 com. I also upload it to iTunes. You can also listen at GreatFatLossPill com. Click on the On The Air tab at the top.

  • fast foods. yes u can eat less and lose weight like he said but ur body wont like it in the long run...like losing muscle and sabatoging ur immmune system big time...fruits is good energy, protiens and essential fats are great for recovering, sleep also is crucial...oh ya WATER stay away from any dumb health drinks...except for the veggie and acai drinks..thise are good read the labels..

  • Can you do a video about your feelings about the tv show biggest loser ?

  • @disneydiva21 I answered your question on my 5-17-10 BlogTalkRadio show. Go to BlogTalkRadio and search Steve Turano. The show can also be downloaded from iTunes. The most recent shows can also be heard on my website home page (at the bottom) once it uploads. Tell a friend! ~Steve

  • lol, you can't really "fail" at weight loss, you can just stall it. it's a 24/7 occurence

  • Steve, you the man

  • Thanks!

  • i love m body 3 times a day and i don't seem to be losing weight

  • Ha!

  • @madiovich are you male? if so you likely will never have prostate cancer. LOL

  • @chalicechiq what the fuck is that supposed to mean ?? if you're a faggot and got your prostate pushed in that's your problem for the rest fuck you

  • @madiovich It was a joke, jeez. My fiance and I heard a news piece that indicated that the more a man masturbates, the lower his chances of getting prostate cancer. We calculated that if a man masturbates something like 80 times a day, he reduces his chances of getting prostate cancer to 0. LOL!

  • Hi!

I'm 148 pounds and 5'4. I want to weigh 130 pounds. I've lost 20 pounds already but now I'm standing still.

  • Glad you're enjoying them.

  • i love the "love your body" at the end of the videos :D, also, that the vids are short because long videos bore me. thanks for all this info.

  • Don't stress about food and calories. The cut in calories only has to be slight. Time and consistancy will create a large deficit and weightloss as you know. Picking up your walking, maybe only 15 minutes more per day, will also make the scale start to drop again. If you can clean up your diet just a bit, over time that will create a calorie defiicit. Get healthy fats and protein in your system plus fiber so you don't crave junk. Join Steve's site and you will have an angel on your shoulder.

  • If you lost 35 lbs. in a year, then that is phenomenal The scale is not the whole story however. You're waist measurments (if a male) and your hip, thigh measurments (if a female), should be taken as well. Sometimes you're putting on muscle weight while you lose fat. The scale will stay unchanged but your measurments are in fact moving down. If you want the weight loss to continue, make another slight cut to your volume of food, 100 calories a day less of junk, and the scale will start to drop.

  • taken me about a year to lose 35 pounds!

i exercised every day and went on a diet. i would go on and of my diet but still eat vegtables and fruit but along with some junk and the exercising started to go on and off. now i try to get myself back on track and im not losing any weight. and when i dont lose anything i get discouraged and i just dont care anymore! and i think im starting to develop a problem because i stress over the calories i eat and feel horrible when i eat junk!

  • YW!!!

  • thanks for this video :)

  • Ya but swimming burns alot of calories . I mean alot , look at suffers and swimmers that do it all the time they are very lean , you can use your legs and everything when doing it with low impack to joints. Trust me it burns alot of calories.

  • The facts are 90 % of your results as far as body composition and fat loss goes, DIET is where that comes from NOT exercise.

Look up MARK SISSON PRIMAL blueprint

  • Just remember:

Exercise does NOT burn many calories-not anywhere near what most persons think. This includes steady state , which burns twice the amount that sprints do.

So you have exercise, which does NOT burn many calories, PLUS it makes you HUNGRY.

Perhaps not right away, but eventually later in the day. This is true with both types of exercise, but especially with sprinting. DIET, NOT exercise, is where you will see the RESULTS for fat loss. Research proven.

  • No, it does not, but it sure makes you healthier, and stronger, and more able to lose weight... sure, you may say that diet's more important, you may say that exercise is not important, but in order to lose weight in a healthy manner, you've got to do both...

    again, you rule, Steve

  • What are your sources for your claim that "DIET, NOT exercise is where you see the RESULTS..."

  • Just remember, DIET (meaning fasting or calorie restriction) is more important than exercise for fat loss. That is where most of your results come from.

  • People worry about bread to much. Bread is fine. Whole grain bread is better. Either way you will burn those calories about the same if you exercise.

  • Two quick questions.

First I love Fries I mean I love them more then I would love my girlfriend if I had one . What can I eat in place of those ?

And one I lost a lot of inches when I when to all chicken diet( lot of chick fil a) diet. It has been the only thing that worked for me.. should I try that once more?

  • You can have fries just eat less of them and eat them less often. Try just once a week. If eating chicken worked for you do that!

  • I will try Steve but it i so hard , I mean I don't no what else is as good as fries lol . But i need to so something ... Like today I ran 2 miles. I know it is a baby step but hooray me lol.

  • Good job. One day at a time.

  • dude i feel ur pain.... FF's RULE!!!! omg they are like my crack/cryptonite lol. ppl laugh when i say that, but 4 me its true, FF's and Pizza are THE main reasons im fat (plus lack of exercise lol....)

  • Have you already tried chipped potatoes? 100 grams of potatoes contain roughly 72 calories while 100 grams of french fries have around 170 calories. Slicing the potatoes maybe a little bit of work, but it's just ten to fifteen minutes. You can roast them in a good frypan which doesn't need oil to prevent scorching.

  • Guten Tag,

I have not even heard of chipped potatoes . But I will try it. Thanks

  • Guten Tag zurück. :)

By chipped potatoes I simply mean you slice a potato into long thin pieces so they look like fries.

  • It sounds like a psychological 'hang up' to me. If you started thinking of fries as "sticks of grease and fat", and started associating a sense of nausea with them, you might be able to kick the habit. As with most Americans who lack discipline, it sounds like you're being led by the pleasure principle--which never works, unless you change the psychological underpinnings first.

  • sounds like someone has been reading up on the halo effect ;)

  • i had a quick question about bread. i know its a alot of carbs but is it easyer to burn it then anyother carb?

  • Sprinters do a lot of low intensity exercise. Tempo runs. Fact.

  • Not at all. That's great! Keep up the good work!!!

  • Is there any side effects to ur leg if you run on the treadmill everyday for 2-3 miles?

  • Hello Steve! You always say, only the calories matter. I have to eat roughly 2000 calories a day. Is it a problem if I eat half of my calories when I weak up? So my first meal contains 1000 calories and 8 hours later I eat four 250 calories meal every 2 hours till I go to bed. Because I'm very hungry all day if I eat 8 250 calories meal every 2 hours. It's somehow satisfy me for the first half of the day. But this large meal not harmful to my weight loss plans?

  • Not at all. What's important is creating a consistent calorie deficit. How you eat your meals makes no difference.

  • Hi Steve, I have a question for you. How much of weight is due to genetics and how much is due to diet/lifestyle? I would like to see you do a video on this subject. Another question I have is about hunger and satiety. How do you describe how to maintain your weight without counting calories for the rest of your life? No one can actually do that; it's pretty maddening. Thanks!

  • Time for a new Monitor Steve!! haha Great Videos man!!!

  • LOL! I know. Time for a laptop.

  • Thanks for making these videos! They are much appreciated.

  • Hey Steve question for ya. I've been working out about 5 months now. Started out at about 22% body fat. I'm down to 14% now and over the past month it has seemed to slow down alot. I don't want to drop my caloric intake to much and risk loosing lean body mass. I do 30-45 mins cardio and 30-45 mins of resistance training 6 days a week. I can see the outline of my abs at 14% but would like to get down to about 10%. What can I do to speed up this process?

  • NIce job! Just keep doinig what you're doing. It takes time to get that low a % of body fat..

  • You've done a great job so far! Here are some suggestions. 1. Watch your fat intake. By decreasing your fat you can eliminate unnecessary calories. 2. You might need to either increase the intensity of your cardio or the time. 3. Add in some sprints and other very intense cardio twice a week instead of regular cardio. 4. Maintain the intensity of your weight training to keep your muscles. 5. Going from 14% to 10% will take time. Be patient.

  • My weakness is donuts. I eat healthy about every meal breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lots of vegetables and light foods. But when I look back at what I ate throughout the day I usually will put down about 3 dozen of the fried bastards. Should I eat less vegetables?

  • Thanks again Steve.

  • My pleasure!

  • These videos are the best! And Steve -- you really know how to motivate and explain. This worked for me so thank you very much:)

  • Thank you!

  • The 3 P's in your video is the ultimate keys to LONG TERM/LIFE LONG SUCCESS in weight loss.

    1) Persistence

    2) Patience

    3) Prevail

Great video Steve! Enjoy your weekend!

  • Thank you!

  • Steve, you're awesome - keep it up.

  • Thank you!

  • STEVE I NEED YOUR HELP IM TRYING TO MUSCLE GAIN AND IM A HARD GAINER ITS SO FRUSTRATING ...i have good form work out but havnt gained barely anything onlly become cut I EAT EAT EAT AND do 20 min cardio b4 weights WTH am i doing wrong its stupid almost 6 months then i stopped because i only gained about a kilo of muscle now im starting again and im scared its gonna happen again no point if its not gonna work HELP ME STEVE

  • you say your a hard gainer, then why are you doing cardio?

lighten up or cut the cardio if you dont have a problem with fat.

hit the weights harder, heavyer weight, more sets/reps.

eat BETTER, and you will have to eat alot.

  • 1. Eat normal food, when you are hungry, but try to get some protein in each meal. You will not need supplements at all.

    2. Lift heavy, few reps. ect 10 reps. Dont stop if you can lift more, add more weights next time.

    3. You will need atleast 2 days of rest between a workout of the same muscle grp. Maybe more.

    4. Vary your activities, you must always trick the body to work as hard as possible, So dont do the exact same chest exercise for too long ect.

    5. Cardio after weights, not before.

  • Why cardio after weight?

  • I wish i had more space:)

When doing cardio for calorie burn only, you dont need to "perform", you just need time. To grow muscles you need to give 100% each workout.

Light cardio doesnt need energy as fast, so fatburning will do. Pumping needs the fast glycogen in your blood.

    But this is used first.

So if you have used it to walk on a trademill, you will not be able to push your muscles 100% when pumping.

So pump while you have the enegy in your blood. Trademill to burn calories after.

  • 20 min cardio isnt too bad. try counting your calories. always try to increase reps, sets or more weight in your workouts

  • 1. Don't do as much cardio. 2. Do basic exercises. 3. Train intensely with heavier weights. 8-10 reps 4. Eat just a bit more at each meal or eat more often. 5. Try trainng eat much group twice a week. 6. Train consistently.

  • steve i need some help.. i work out at night and i work out alot and i just wanted to know how i could take protein.. should i take it befor or after or during. i work out from 10 to 1 in the morning

  • It's not that important as long as you're eating enough during the day. Do whatever feels good. The most important things are 1. You workout You're training intensely and consistently. 3. You're eating enough.

  • Thanks for the inspiration and the commonsense true advice.

  • Thank you!

  • I lost over 40 lbs in 2 months by not eating over 1600 calories a day. I have a six pack, much muscle, never even hit the gym. All I would do is jog and not eat over 1600 cals. Started at 250 and am now at 190 with a six pack. Losing weight is easy, people just cheat and go over board eating. Now that I'm at 190 I just watch my weight each day, eat whatever I want...going on over a month not one pound gained back.

  • people need to stop complaining, get off the couch, stop eating like extreme pigs, go to the gym, no buffets, no smoking, did I say stop eating like pigs? just plan stop being lazy!!!

  • steve you remind me of a jim rome off of "rome is burning" btw your videos are the base of all my knowledge on weight loss and i have lost 65 pounds in about eight months and am now at 6'2 197 pounds. im trying to lose the loose skin but im struggling with that any suggestions?

  • Sorry, but it isn't for all the reasons I said. Take a look at sprinters and swimmers. Who's more ripped and who still has a layer of fat on them? Michael Phelps is thin but not ripped.

  • Phelps is ripped, however he is a completely different kind of athlete than a sprinter is. Look at some of the sprint swimmers and get back to me... fact is swimmers are just as ripped as any other land based athlete is(runner, track athlete what have you). You can choose to disregard that and take conflicting info from 1987 to use for your opinion, but youd be wrong. Swimming is just as effective as land based activities(more so imo) . Just like anything you have to watch what you eat.

  • Does that mean swimmers dont do weights? of course not. A combo is always best. I like your videos and your info is generally good, but you need to brush up on some of it ;)

  • swimming isnt efficient? wat?

    come on steve....

  • your body builds up the resistance of the water, so when swimming you have to work harder to get the same result you would from intense cardio that you get from just running, just like anything else.

  • Comment removed

  • You must be a shit swimmer then!

  • Cant people share their knowledge on itube without some weakling making a smart ass comment nowdays?

  • No!

  • The reason swimming is not as efficient as other exercises is because it is not a weight bearing exercise. Your body is supported by water. Its one reason doctors recommend swimming as a form of rehab from ppl recovering from injury. Most efficient exercises are where you fight gravity and use newtons 3rd law (opposite and equal reaction). eg lifting weights, running, plyometrics, boxing, skipping etc

  • Not for burning fat. The muscles of the shoulders are very small and you have to be in great shape to swim fast enough to get any results. Sorry.

  • Thanks for another wonderful video Steve!

  • My pleasure!

  • im 13 and workout 5 days a week for the past 3 months but im getting worried if i will stop growing. should i stop since i am young or am i old enough for heavy weights?

  • dont do heavy weights, it cuts down on your hight

  • At this stage in the game keep your reps to 12-15. Also, using primarily machines to exercise would keep things safe too. I would also stay away from exercises that place any weight on your shoulders and therefore compressive force on the spine. This is unsafe at any age.

  • Thank you!

  • Excellent video - as usual! 5 stars!

  • They dropped the ball?

    What happened?

Sorry to hear, sounds very frustrating. But your fans are patient :)

I've decided to begin exercising again. I've learned how to stop gaining weight and have lost some but at a slow pace.

Cardio has been so difficult because of my asthma that has suddenly reappeared so i plan to start slow and considering allergy meds if it doesn't improve

  • Hang in there. Do a little bit every day. It will add up. Keep an eye on your eating as well.

  • I love your videos!!

  • Thank you!

  • Stop fighting your biology. Stop eating carbs.

  • Totally awesome. You're not taking down your videos anytime soon, are you?

  • No! The videos will stay on You Tube and I will contiue to post here. But I will have longer, more in-depth videos on my site.

  • haha. "please dont write me''

  • Thank you!

  • Excellent video. Thank you - as always!

    Good luck with the site!

  • Your the best man. you have helped me to lose weight. YOU ROCK. keep making vids

  • Thank you. I will!

  • hi another question steve i do cardio in the morning for about 1 hour then go to kickboxing for about 2 hours and its a really hard workout then at night i do some weight lifting working out 2 muscles a day like bicep tricep 1 day and then other muscle groups another day and i eat about 1500 calories a day and i am a chef so i stand and run around a lot shouldnt i be eating more calories and am i really active during the day is this pretty active or just normal?

  • That's very active and depending on how much you weigh (and if you're losing or maintaining your weight) it sounds like you might need to eat a few more calories.

  • Thanks!

  • great vid and very informative

  • Steve, why do some medications cause people to start to gain weight who have not had that problem before?

  • Many times medications affect apetites, hormones, fluid rention or the activity of our organs. All can affect metabolism or weight gain or loss.

  • My pleasure!

  • thnx, you are very informative. After subscribing and following your advise, I have lost weight and built musle at my highest rate ever!

    Thanx man.

  • i love this man!

  • Thanks!

  • Usually if it's sore it means it needs a bit more time to recover.

  • Steve, is exercising the same muscle group when it is sore okay? Or should I wait until it recovers?

  • What would be the best way to tell/get your resting metabolic rate? How your metabalism is really doing. Also when you go into " starvation " mode, what is the best way to get out of it and how to find the right balance?

  • You have to really diet, drop your body fat levels AND be training very hard before you go into starvation mode. If you're not gaining weight total up the calories you're eating. That's your metabolic rate.

  • can someone be burning 3000 calories without cardio and just weight lifting

  • Great job steve!

  • Thank you!

  • You're looking very lean.

  • Thanks. Just increased my cardio and cut my eating a bit. If I pack on any more muscle it makes me very strong. Then I lift more weight. BUT then I risk injuring my elbow again. So I'm staying leaner.

  • Not a bad way to start BUT it will only take you so far. Plus, look at the before and after pics. The guys are very skinny to begin with so ANY muscular development will be very noticeable. Not to mention being tan, perfct lighting, better fitting clothes, etc. that make the pics more impressive. PLUS their theory of muscle confusion is BS! It's actually an old sales idea. Muscles grow not from confusion but from intense contractions regardless of what you do or if you do it every day!

  • Thanks Steve! What do you think about this P90X exercise DVDs that are being advertised heavily?

  • NOT HAVE SUCCESS = CAN HAZ FAIL ??

  • Your the man steve.

  • Thanks!

  • Yet another great video from Steve. 5/5 stars. Thank you!

  • Thank you!

  • After I gained about 10lb of muscle I started loosing weight must faster. I heard that 1lb of Muscle burns 50 calories a day? Is that true?

  • Thanks Steve, really always helps to hear your words of encouragement.

  • My pleasure. Everybody needs help staying focused.
