  • Why is this called a RADIO? Furthemore, the 60hz light bulb caused it to beep much higher (>10x) 120hz...."interesting" you said, it sure is.

  • @sibalogh

The original circuit is crystal radio based. The use of a diode in a circuit enables dozens of uses.

The 60 hz lightbulb sounds higher in frequency because the Audio Hijack software allows me to change the pitch in real time.

  • It sounds like modulated speech. Saying "S" "F" "W". I wonder what would happen if you stuck a small fan in front of the laser beam (breaking up the laser beam into periodic chunks) shining on the Spirit Radio and then just listened.

  • Ok Rick

    tankh you very much

    a presto

    Claudio

  • Hello Rick

I'm sorry, I am a new of You tube and I can not find where it are published and explained the Full building instructions and circuit diagrams for the Spooky Tesla Spirit Radio , you could send me the link if you do not bother you? thanks a lot for the answer and excuse me for my incapacity. hello Claudio

  • @tubesclan

The "Show more" window opens by clicking on the "Show more" bar, which is found under the video window, but above the Video Responses and Comments windows. The link to my Spirit Radio instructable is there.

If you go to instructables (dot) com/member/mrfixits you will find Spooky, as well as several other of my fun projects.

  • @MrfixitRick

    Thank you very much Rick

    Claudio

  • @tubesclan

    You are most welcome!

I am happy to address questions about my videos and instructables.

You can post in the comments, or e-mail me.

  • so.... what are the antennas for?

  • @ez2curanut

The two antennas are tuned, one as an antenna, one as a ground, together with the resonating inductor and capacitor circuit. Apparently the Spirit Radio works with two close AM band waves, and the resultant frequency is a harmonic of the Schumann Earth resonance of 7.8 hz.

  • @MrfixitRick ok... so like 2nd or 3rd order?

  • @ez2curanut

Mr Gold says in "Parallel Worlds Explored",

"A new form of periodic leaky-wave antenna was used in my Beta-Blocker; its radiation patterns are triodic and can be analyzed in three-dimensional trinary trigonometric patterning..." "The intensity of the resultant waveform is diminished on the lower end of the EMS at 7.8 Hz, resonant with 1440 Hz on the broadcast band, through Beat-Frequency Oscillation and standard wide-wave technology common in the 1900's."

  • @MrfixitRick hahahahaha, ok.... looks like someone's "zero-beating" the oscillator too much. No disrespect to you, I kept up with the fancy wording, justa lot of fancy words there from Mr Gold. Thanks for the explanation

  • @ez2curanut ELI the ICE man, Out :)

  • @ez2curanut

Mr Gold admits his devices work by 10% science and 90% magic...and the science is shaky !

However, today's magic is tomorrow's science...;)

  • @MrfixitRick

Hello sincere congratulations for the great idea and amazing special effects that you can get. It would be possible to have the circuit diagram? thanks hello Claudio

  • @tubesclan

Full building instructions and circuit diagrams for the Spooky Tesla Spirit Radio are found in my Instructables link in the "Show more..." box.

  • has anyone tried to modify this thing with a stronger crystal??

  • @idontcare166

This radio uses a 1N34A diode that has germanium crystal in it. What do you mean by a stronger crystal?

  • Pew! Pew!

  • 4:32 Whoaaa .......

  • have you tried strobes with this?

  • damn im trippin`

  • The sound reminds me sound of the predators aiming device. :D

  • lsd ACID

  • careful with beta-blockers. i tried one of those once and my heart slowed down way too slow. i of course mean the pills, not your device. not recommended, it was supposed to stop anxiety and stress.

interestingly enough, the LightSensitiveDiode that could be the optic nerve -> retina, isn't just one-way. there is like a bi-directional element, possibly just to one eye, which is related to how to actually manipulate matter outside of your body using your mind.

  • where can i buy a spirit radio or a kit?

  • @thefireguy22

Check out my How-To Instructable and other links in the "more info" box to the right. >>>

  • messing with the quartz crystal using that laser

  • @ryanoose

It's a germanium crystal in the diode.

  • sounds like a toilet flush

  • what is that plugged into?

  • @GearzVoNKod3

The cable connection points at the ground and diode of the radio are plugged directly into the computer, and run through audio software called Audio Hijack pro.

  • repeating tesla's experiments ! awesome!!

  • cool!

  • ....can say it's very "intresting", specialy the light actions on youre radio.

if you dont mind I hop in.....and take a ride.

  • have you ever played with a gravity emitting diode

  • No, but if you send me one I will experiment with it!

  • AC light sounds like a sine wave, which would make sense.

  • the photon hitting the wire inside the diode cause a small reaction which makes a electrical discharge creating a radio wave and a small sound is picked up by your receiver , the greater the frequency of light the higher pitch , awesome demonstration of how light interacts with matter

  • Be careful!!!!

  • Harmonic resonant frequencies

  • Try using a prism laser array

  • Good idea. I'll look for a prism!

  • STARWAR SOUNDS >:O

  • is it the intesity of the light that is "tuning" the diode do you think or the frequencies the light is carrying?

  • The diode seems sensitive to both the type of light (AC or DC), and the frequencies and the intensity of it.

  • if it is possible that the sprit radio can detect color ! as color has frequency this may help a blind person detect color if he or she is trained to the frequency sound of color ohh by the way .. in no way for puning as some users of lsd as documented can hear colors on thier trip it my be possible truth but if the spirt radio can. as you shown with differnt light oh the possiblitys

  • This is the light-sensing part of the circuit, and all diodes of this type would respond to light. The trick is to make the light response make some sense; to give it "body". That's where the audio software comes in.

This sensing of light idea is really stretched in a following video where the radio "reads" the colours of my computer screen! This was through electromagnetic waves, not visible light like the above.

    See YouTube/watch?v=DZcVLUwWDVM

    and especially YouTube/watch?v=aPEJtXhGiI0

  • It wont help blind people, even if you can convert color to sound, the frequency of the sound will be in a much higher range than what we can hear (10Hz - 20kHz).

  • The radio circuit normally converts the AM 500 khz to 1700 khz signal into sound frequency range. It will also convert electromagnetic waves from the screen into audible sound. It's not reading the colours directly, but the frequency of the electronics which is switching the colours on.

  • Why is it called a spirit radio?

  • Originally, the term spirit radio was used over 50 years ago, as a name for specially tuned radios and equipment that supposedly could hear the voices of the dead and other such psychic uses. There are psychic societies now that still use this idea and listen for EVP (electronic voice phenomena).

Although this may be possible, it is not the main use of this device. This Beta Blocker Spirit Radio is designed to be a meditative aid, by assisting the alpha and theta brain wave states.

  • its got LSD??? hahahA

  • Fun stuff, Rick! thanks

  • Yes- -all semiconductor junctions are light sensitive and produce voltage from light (photovoltaics). Commercial solar cells are really just enormous semiconductor PN junctions. The amplification and modulation are very interesting in this experiment - yielding sound variations from various light types and proximity. Have you tried a green laser? Thanks for sharing yet another very cool experiment!!!

  • A semiconductor junction (your germanium diode) generates a forward voltage, much like a solar cell. What the voltage causes to happen depends on your circuit. It might be interesting to use a low frequency modulated light, or a TV remote, though the diode junction may be less sensitive to infra red tight.

  • It has all the sounds of a good sci-fi...

  • I would like to see more of this, but using Different color LED's... Maybe even colored film over the flashlight, AC Light, etc.

Maybe you will get different sounds with different colors.... worth a shot?

    .... Also... Subscribed...

  • Thanks for the good ideas.

I will be showing a video of the interaction of the Beta Blocker and sunlight that will prove interesting. As well as with a candle flame, the light of which can be sensed up to 2 feet away from the box!

  • so can anyone explain what is the point of this

  • I was curious what the Beat Blocker radio could do other than blocking beta brain waves and being a parallel world tuner. It's circuit consists of a resistor, 2 capacitors, a coil, and a diode.

I had already discovered that the Beta Blocker receives regular radio waves, detects EMP pulses and EM fields, and hears audio frequencies.

This test confirms that the radio also detects the visible light spectrum. The diode inside is light-sensitive, and can easily discern between AC and DC light.

  • You mean my mom's alive? Cool! The Spirit Radio really does work then?!

  • did you know that you were using a ligth sensitive diode when you built it? lol, my light makes the same sound when it is going to crap out, maby you discovered some thing new?

  • EJ Gold built the Beta Blocker Spirit Radios with diodes that are to be used in crystal radios. The diode is normally meant to take the full wave from the antenna and half-rectify it into a DC form that an earphone can react to.

Although it was not something I expected when I started poking around with the laser beam inside the radio box, I'm now assuming that most diodes are light-sensitive to some degree, and that is simply the effect here.

  • hey, Rick, know how you've been making little house hold gadgets? I have a great suggestion! use your technical genious and make a bicycle powered bandsaw =) or even a bicycle powered table saw. Give 'em a try! nice job though man *2 thumbs up!!

  • pretty cool rick

  • Nice.

  • a little scary sound ;D

  • wild, thx
