  • the first needle drop video i saw!! subscribed after this :P

  • I would love to see how people would react twards these guys if the blue album and pinkerton never were released

  • all time favourite: Say It Ain't So

  • Either "Buddy Holly,Island in the sun,Pink triangle,my name is jonas,or ruling me,All very good and elaborate tracks! What is your favorite Mr.Needledrop?

  • Dude, it is just fun music, not meant to be Pink Floyd deep... Rivers is also getting older and as nature works, we all mellow which is cool, I love it..

  • BLUE ALBUM ROCKS!

  • You're right on Weezer. Their songs are bad but have undeniably catchy melodies.

  • Good review. I have to agree with you, being a long term Weezer fan, whilst the song writing remains mostly excellent, the further away they've gotten from allowing rawness or rough edges on their albums, the less it does for me. Great example of this is "Pig". Such a good track on demo, but not nearly the same impact when recorded properly. I think it's wise for bands to strip back on approach occasionally, especially when they can create such strong melody and harmony.

  • I really don't get why people hate Make Believe It was almost as amazing as Pinkerton in my books

  • i thought this song was about his daughter~

  • It is lol

  • I could not have said it any better in regards to how Weezer dresses most of their new songs and how it takes away from their music. Great Review

  • The Blue Album was there best.

  • btw, 2:07, best laugh ever

  • this new album was one of the biggest monstrosities of 09 (and I do NOT mean that in the good sense).

  • My favorite Weezer song is Only In Dreams from the Blue Album, but I also really like all there stuff with some exceptions.

  • lol at 5:20 to 5:30 you described yourself. lolololol

  • i totally agree

  • *hi five*

  • Great Tracks off Rad: Let It All Hang Out Trippin Down The Freeway (If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To Can't Stop Partying Put Me Back Together Good Tracks: I'm Your Daddy The Girl Got Hot I Don't Want To Let You Go Okay tracks: Love Is The Answer (without Indian vocals - on itunes) In The Mall So The Album is really just a grab bag of Top 40 Pop, Classic Weezer, and easily forgettable songs.
  • agreed

  • What.

Sir, are you implying that ''Can't Stop Partying'' is a GOOD song? C'mon, man.

Try listening the original version in his solo project album, Alone 2.

  • aaaw, sweet end

and i'm big weezer, and i would actually disagree on that, the song ain't maybe their worse and i like the chorus + the bridge, but i remember the first time i heard i really thought it was an unfinished mixed song, the verses sound really... cheap, even in the songwrittin', not only in the sound i mean

but the album is cool, and i LOVE Make Believe, if they would have take off that band picture, the album would have been perfect

  • I like the record, but it needs a hit. Going to see them live soon.

  • Bunny, it's Gecaj. Great review! I wasn't a fan of this song at first, but I have to say that it is catchy as hell. I do LOVE the live version though.

  • My favorite Weezer song is the one where they don't sing or play any instruments. :D

  • LULZ

  • Do you suggest the full Raditude album?

  • There are some hits and some REAL misses on there; however, if you LOVE--and I do mean "love"--this track, go for it. I mean, the songs really are geared toward a young audience, so don't be surprised if you find yourself thinking this isn't for you.

  • Honestly, the album just sucks. I wouldn't wish listening to "Love Is the Answer" upon my worst enemy.

  • hey i did a review of this album please check it out and give me some feedback. thanks.

  • Hi Antony, I didn't know you, I happened to meet you here after looking for Weezer's I'm your daddy song...I'm their fan since the beginning, and you know what?I totally agree with what you're saying about this song and them in general...Weezer are catchy...and that's what really matters I guess...even if I long for the early days sometimes, they always have something great for me...

  • Perfect Situation (The only redeeming factor to Make Believe, and a damn good one)

I really don't think Raditude is as bad as people are making it out to be. I mean I guess it doesn't have one true amazing song (The closest would probably be "I Want You To") but a lot of these songs are just good. "Love is the Answer" is.... just awful, but other than that they're at least above par songs - great songs.

  • Thanks for the comment! :-D

  • Man, subscription added.

Now, I found it hard to shift to the new sound Weezer was putting out on Ratitude. Like, I'm trying to keep an open mind but there's just something seriously wrong with the album. I enjoyed the track If you're wondering but other than that the extremely poppy and generic beats aren't doing it for me. I really don't know if I can take the band seriously anymore. I swear, the lyrics for every track are extremely corny. Even though its catchy, what I really want is depth.

  • Yeah, no sonic depth here. The song, to me, is great, but the sounds are too generic. That's why this is more of a guilty pleasure for me! :-)

  • Only in dreams

  • Say It Ain't So is my favorite Weezer song... and one of Rivers' best ever.

  • Say It Ain't So is my fav as well

  • I've lost faith in Weezer after Pinkerton. I'll try this song out but a full album...nevermore! El Scorcho...because of it's disregard of pop ;)

  • Definitely check it. The song ain't bad.

  • fuck weezer. my friend was so obsessed. he got tickets to their small club reunion tour. it was fucked up and i almost got trampled. then they released those god awful new albums. i kind of like beverly hills though.

  • I die when I hear "Beverly Hills". :-p

  • that could mean it's good or it could mean it's bad

  • I will leave it for you to decide! :-D

  • Thanks for backing up your points of view instead of saying "this sucks", like 99% of everyone out there...

  • No probz.

  • can you review Convinced of the hex by the flaming lips?

  • find something/someone relevant to talk about

  • Will do! Thank you for the inspirational comment!

  • I'm glad you took "droplets" into consideration. :p

    Anytime is fine.

I'm convinced Rivers Cuomo has been trolling the music biz after Pinkerton. How he can write Tired Of Sex and then make something like Raditude is beyond me. The good thing is that the horrible new records make Green and Maladroit sound much better.

Favorite weezer song= Only In Dreams/The Good Life

  • 5 or 6 pm EST? I'll try to hit that time on Thursday. A commercial will be up when I decide what time works best.

  • I disagree with your rating of weezer. I think bands should not move along with the times, which is what weezer did. The catchy, over produced vocals your talking about are actually Emo style vocals. Yes, they have very catchy songs, and are a good band, they sound very modern, nothing like what they did 15 years ago. However, they did not progress musically, what they did was change their style completely, and for that reason i dislike weezer.

  • It depends on what you mean by change. I don't think they've really changed. When Weezer started, their aim was to produce music was appealed to a certain audience. They're still writing music for that audience. The problem is their old fan base has just outgrown them. I think that's what you're. THe reason Weezer's new music doesn't appeal to you is because it's not geared toward you.

  • theif, you've taken all that was me

  • Hahhahaha!

  • k, i spelled it wrong, but whatevs. that song speaks to me. what's your favorite weezer song, fantano?

  • Maybe Surf Wax America.

  • 7 out of 7?

  • For Surf Wax America, sure.

  • "I Want You To" is far and away the best song on Raditude. "I'm Your Daddy" and a few others are OK, but the rest are pretty lame. "Love Is The Answer" might just be the worst song they've ever done.

Oh well. I can always go back and listen to Pinkerton and pretend that they're still as good.

  • Sounds like a plan.

  • classic

  • OMG THX!

  • undon

if you want to destroy my sweater, wohOwohOoH, pull this thread as i walk away, AS I WALK AWAYAYAY!

  • I approve of this.

  • favourite weezer songs i think are death and destruction, the world has turned and left me here and say it aint so which is just class songwriting in my opinion.

  • I see weezer as my ultimate guilty pleasure. I keep revisiting their songs every couple of months in some nostalgic daze, remembering the days before Frank Zappa/Post Rock/Drone Metal/Sludge and Hip Hop completely reinvented my typical listening habits.

  • Same here. :-p

  • its fun..weezer are fun plain and simple.... im not a fan but they are allowed to exist in my circles....unlike coldplay...they should not be allowed to exist!

  • Hahahaha.

  • Islands in the Sun. Great Weezer song.

  • Dude, I honestly love Raditude. Yeah, it's goofy and super poppy, but I really dig it. Of course I love Blue and Pinkerton...well, all their albums really, but this album just says "have a good time", and what's wrong with that! You said you tried to not like it because it's so catchy, why? There's nothing wrong with liking something! Fun fact: This song live is WAY harder and more rocking than the studio track. The studio track was also produced by the dude who produced Katy Perry haha

  • Nah, there's nothing wrong with a good time. It's just obvious that Weezer's music isn't really geared toward my age group anymore. :-P When blue and Pinkerton came out, their music was geared toward me. So, when I dig on their really new stuff, I kinda feel like I'm joining a club I'm not supposed to be in. :-p

  • The Blue album was good, Pinkerton was even better and the green album has Hash Pipe. Make Believe and the Red album fail in comparison but I always give Weezer a chance. I have to at least give Raditude a spin or two. There newer stuff is just so overly poppy. I hate how they dress their newer songs as well.

  • Thanks for the comment. Glad to hear I'm not the only one bugged by how they dress their stuff.

  • I hope i dont have to study next time you do a live show. :\

  • Aww. Don't worry. There'll be more!

  • pink triangle/holiday, i think with them its all about the hooks, they're just a great pop band, dont expect much more.

  • Pretty much.

  • Okay, I really don't have a problem with your opinion of the band, but when you say they're a great pop band, and not much more, then mention Pink Triangle and Holiday? What part of these songs are just hooks and pop? Intricate dueling guitar solos, a capella breakdowns, deeply personal and emotional lyrics. I can go on and on. What part of this is just "all about hooks?" There are countless songs in the Weez catalogue that fit these characteristics, even post Pinkerton. Go listen to more songs.

  • i love pinkerton and the blue album but i'm not expecting 9 minute songs about aliens any time soon, they make very well thought out pop music and there is nothing wrong with that, i'm a weezer fan dude but i don't think they're a modern day can thats all.

  • Agree with you again. I think we were brothers in another life. ;)

  • Hah! Does that mean I can borrow money from you :-p

  • Weezer is a alright band but if they decided to take a risk and step up their writing and make it more interesting instrumentally instead of a very controlled beat with a roll on the snare here and there and using power chords repeatedly in EVERY song I bet they could draw more people/listeners. But like most of Weezers music it IS catchy (you're absolutely right about that)...and that damn song hasn't left my head since hearing it. Favorite song ''Undone''.

  • I know. Their music just stays in my brain....FOREVER!

  • Pinkerton was the only one that mattered.

  • No waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! Blue rules!!!!

  • Blue and Pinkerton are the best. Pinkerton is just closer to home for me.

  • Agreed.

  • fuck weezer!

i dont care for them sorry :)

  • Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • I didn't find this song to be all that catchy. I thought it was dumb. I don't know why Weezer has become obsessed with appealing to frat boys and geeky kids lately. They're way too poppy these days and songs have zero emotional resonance. The songs used to pack a wallop back in the day. Today, they're just hollow, vapid and meaningless.

40 year old men singing about high school dances. I mean, COME ON !

  • Hahahahah! I think Weezer is just trying to appeal to the same age group they always have, pretty much. I just feel like grunge and underground rock has so much more of an influence on what teens wanted when the band started in 1994. These days, the kids don't want the heavy, confusing stuff. They like it simple and poppy. That's what the band is doing. I don't think we should be surprised.

  • Droplets!! I think it sounds better... =)

Ehm, I'm in Ireland, so here and the UK are about 5 hours in front of you? 10pm GMT is great for me, so that's about 5pm EST. Day is irrelevant. How does that work for you?

  • Thanks for answering the question! I'll take the time into consideration! :-D

  • I'm good with 10 like you have it now. Great review like always :-)

  • THX.

  • Old Weezer is much better than this. Specifically everything before Make Believe, that's the best.

  • Agreed.

  • i think the thing about weezer is that they've gone from this band who used to write pretty good pop-rock songs to a weezer cover band trying to write pretty good pop-rock songs. which is really disappointing because the weezer demos and songs like "pork & beans" show that they have the potential to be THE BAND who wrote the blue album again, but for some baffling reason, continue to churn out garbage like "beverly hills". i don't get it.

oh, and my favorite weezer song is "say it ain't so".

  • "Beverly Hills"...*shudder*

  • I see your 7 and raise you a 10.

Weezer is, has been, and will forever be WIN!

  • Hahah! Is this ssssssssssarcasm?

  • Nope. It's true. At least in my opinion. Heaps of good memories when it comes to these guys. And Epic 2 thumbs down!

  • i'm in central about 8 eastern..so it's Seven..

which would be awesome right before dinner and a little in the afternoon after work..(9 to 5 job)

  • I gotcha.
