  • this was his funniest tour

  • its funny how most of you atheists out there are just as bad and fanatical as the religious folk- "you're religious? you're a moron! what's wrong with you? dont you SEE??". as somewhat of an atheist myself, i dont see the need to stuff my beliefs down anyone's throat. and as for "let us all unite". psssht, bullshit. if it's not religion, then its some other goddamn thing -.-

  • @HighLordBlaze Thank you for your common sense. The real problem is hypocrisy, not religion.

  • @SoraSlayer i look at these idiots and sigh at the utter stupidity i see in them. if the world IS gonna end, its gonna be because of people like we see today...

  • Comment removed

  • @zoezebra1 i go to a catholic school and we learn a lot about different religions, but then again until the 9th grade the catholics are learnin about their religion in the church, while the rest learn about their religion and other religions in the classroom...

  • @zoezebra1 You go to a CATHOLIC SCHOOL and complain they teach you about their religion? LOL

  • Wtf..you don't take on both your parents religions as if they're a race. What's wrong with you? My dad is catholiic and my mam is prodestant and I'm athiest as they let me choose what i wanna be seeing as we do have to label ourselves. Ye can't say ye're half catholic and half athiest that's actually the most stupid thing I've ever heard. Catholic is believing in the one god and then all the saints and all that rubbish whilst being an athiest clearly states you believe in NO God. Retards.

  • I am the mule child - who is a humanist :D

  • Hear what God of Israel YAHUSHUA-YAHUWAH (Son and Father are ONE) saying to our generation by His chosen prophets: Trumpetcallofgodonline. com ; Letter called "Purify Your Faith, and Come to the Father as It is Written": EXCERPT: "Only in the Bible and through these very Letters, of which I have given to My prophet of the end of this age, shall you find Him and know Him."

  • "Sterile Muuuule child of some description"

  • Man he's awesome :D

  • but JESUS we hadn't trained... XD

  • Catholics must be neutered at birth.

  • @ProtestantThomas So should Loyalist idiots...

  • @ProtestantThomas haha, classic name

  • My Mom was Catholic and my Dad was Protestant; I am a mule child.

  • Regarding the 'protestant' version, I don't know if this holds for all Catholic churches but according to my knowledge, the extra bit is recited during the Catholic Mass by the priest at the end of the lord's prayer.

  • @rravenx It is said in Church of Ireland services too.

  • @Cruithnig When Dara talks about the Protestant and Catholic services being nearly identical he probably does mean the Church of Ireland which is Anglican Catholic rather than Roman Catholic.

  • @Cruithnig

What a pathetic "protestant" church, same with the church of England.

  • @rravenx that's what i was thinking too....

  • is it ocd to notice the bulb out on the O at 2:10

  • MULE CHILD!!!!!

  • Man Dara really lost weight six years ago. Good he's been keeping well both in body and mind :D

  • My boyfriend is half-Catholic, half-Jewish. His extremely Catholic grandparents outright said they'd rather their daughter marry a Jew than a Protestant.

  • im from belfast and this is hilarious.my parents are mixed tho

  • C'mon, people! Regardless of whatever beliefs we have, let's not argue on youtube but enjoy some good, hearty Irish banter!! (or anything else you enjoy on youtube like outtakes, trailers and amvs)

  • @Sloth1898: As long as the video continues to avoid the copyright that is.

  • Fucking religious debates/arguments on a comedy video. Just enjoy the video and keep your arguments to yourselves and not on the comment page.

  • FUCK IT STOP ARGUING ON UTUBE FFS IF U SAW EACH OTHER ON THE STREET YOUD WALK AWAY LIKE COWARDS SO DO DAT NOW!

  • I'm actually confused now as I have never heard that end bit at the end while in the Church of Scotland.

  • um in austria we catholics have the same end as the protestants, the long version :D

  • 43 people have no sense of humour

  • Now Amen gets me every time!!!

  • Athiests are idiots, nuff said

  • @Vannereveilar

at least they can spell ;)

  • @Vannereveilar I'm pretty sure I can reason better than you, but I know for certain I can spell better. Athy, athier, athiest. Is that how you thought it went?

  • @mrbeanaswell Because as he has said himself, to be sure, "I'm A Catholic Atheist!"

  • isnt he an atheist? Why is he counting himself as a Catholic? CONFUSED!

  • @mrbeanaswell He was raised a Catholic and became an Atheist later in life

  • Comment removed

  • @mrbeanaswell in northern ireland and ireland catholic/protestant are basically paramilitary units

  • @haz464 wat a load of fukin shite u cleary are not from N.I u moron

  • @dagerdik actually I do live in NI and i was obviously joking, but after years of sectarianism and segregation protestantism and catholicism have virtually become ethnic groups, which is pretty much what dara means when he says he is a catholic atheist

  • @mrbeanaswell Probably because he was there as a guest of the catholic bride

  • K.A.T

  • I'm a mule child! :)

  • a mixed marriage is one side of the church going mazutol(how i hear it may not be right!!), and the other side men are firing guns in the air! thats a fecking mixed marriage.

  • @queenrodgers It's "mazel tov", it means "good luck" or "congratulations" in Yiddish :)

  • I am the mule child

    :)

  • @SebastianCorlath MULE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD UNTIE!

  • @cuntylishus

Well extremists of them Yes :)

I am in the system officially Protestant, but I put everything through the filter of Philosophy and Science :)

  • NOW AMEN!!!

  • Jesus, I'm half Catholic. half Atheist, I should be a duck by those standards

  • @frodijr how can you be half atheist and half catholic? that just seems to contradict itself.

  • @frodijr When my wife and I have a kid I'll let you know.

  • @frodijr Ironic choice of exclamation, no?

  • @frodijr OH MY GOD THERE ARE MORE OF US!?!?!?!? o.O

  • @frodijr Half catholic, half atheist, wtf ?

  • @frodijr Haha. I wonder what a "baptised Methodist/URC-thinking Agnostic-attending a Catholic school" would be. Now there's some weird standards. Would be the world's strangest animal that's for sure.

  • Yes, panto crowd. haha!

  • I grew up Roman Catholic thinking that a mixed marriage was if you married an Orthodox and Byzantine Catholic. Protestant would have been really crazy. Ha! Now I have friends who are Jewish married to Muslim, atheist married to Jewish or Muslim, or Catholic married to Baha'i.

  • @blairisking feck is just a slang word for fuck popularised by "Father Ted" so it really doesn't have a difference but feck is not as censored as fuck on television

  • y do irish ppl say feck and fuck is there a diffrence or is it just the accent???

  • @blairisking just the accent ! :)

  • Feck it, we'll stick a gazebo at the back of it.

  • YouTube is for watching videos. Not for arguments.

  • @crazyboyxx - And to a person who studies star trek with passion, hearing a scientist say that "spock was actually a hobbit" should righfully piss off star trek fans. My argument is that if you are going to diss a discipline, diss it after learning wat it actually says, not wat you think it is. And please, grow up, its very pathetic to see someone diss religion like it was yesterday's lasagne becos he does not have the brain cells to have a read through books that do not agree with his worldview

  • NOW amen!!

  • When did this turn to a religious debate? Come on, just enjoy the damn thing, he is funny as no other!

  • Comment removed

  • fuckin ledgend :D haha irish people are always the bast crack... must be the alchohol gettin to their heads :L

  • @07motogp I believe the proper spelling for what you were trying to say is ''Irish people are always the best craic.'' xD You're welcome :) lol

  • MAZLETOV!!!!

  • Im a mule child... :(

  • @OverTheTop94 it's okay... i feel your pain. lol XD

  • I'm Catholic born and, being from Liverpool, I'm almost as Irish as Dara, lol. I'm descended both sides from Irish Catholic potato famine immigrants. This clip made me laugh so much!! It's true! :D In Catholic mass, we don't tend to sing the whole hymn because most have about four-seven verses lol. Two at most usually. But I've been to Anglican services before and remember feeling surprised that they sing the whole thing! So the bit about the Catholic side swaying as they sing is true lol!

  • lol i have catholic/protestant grandparents my protestant family was unionist : 0 but im nationalist! and catholic

  • looks like djokovic @ 1:39

  • Religion is a farce and a lie.

But still good to laugh at!

  • looks like 38 people don't like mixed marriages

  • I'm a mule child :O

  • @hitherekate you should change your username to mule child! thatd be awesome...

  • @hitherekate me too XD

  • I'm a sterile mule child PROUD!

  • @hayleyshikari wat is Sterile mule?

  • @IrishBhoy12 me i have catholic/protestant parents

  • @hayleyshikari lol i have catholic/protestant grand parents and proud of it

  • @hayleyshikari haha same here!

  • @hayleyshikari

just take my bags to the room

  • Faith is a powerful thing; but Religion is corrupt

  • @Eleglas i couldn't agree more im protestant but i think religion has only created hatred and war between others at the end of the day if there is a god it wouldn't make any difference what religion you believe in as people say god loves everyone

  • @Eleglas

Yes, faith is a powerful thing.

It turns otherwise intelligent people into arrogant, jibbering, holier than thou morons who think that evidence and rational thinking are not the way to go.

Faith is the epitome of wilful ignorance.

  • @Nilguiri - you talking about the atheists or the religious? cos in todays day and age, that sounds like atheists

  • @savioblanc

    I don't understand your question.

I was saying that having faith in the religious sense of the word is wilful ignorance.

Atheism is to reject dogma, normally because of not only the lack of evidence, but becasue it requires you to ignore any and all evidence. That is pretty much the definition of faith.

I prefer to trust evidence, rational thinking and the scientific method. Religion is the antithesis of that.

Or did you mean that atheists are wifully ignorant?

  • @Nilguiri

I agree that faith is a powerful thing and yes, faith is the ability to believe in a higher power without evidence but as a Christian I don't think we are "wilfully ignorant." Just because I believe there is a higher power does not mean I can't accept evolution or other ideas that have evidence to back them up. The only people who are "arrogant, jibbering, holier than thou morons" are those who are too stubborn to respect others.

  • @Nilguiri

And also, why is it automatically assumed that science and religion are polar opposites?

  • @Alibally94

"why is it assumed that science and religion are polar "?

Because religion has no part whatsoever to play in science. Religion has no interest in evidence or the scientific method. It's experiments (praying) do not provide reliable, repeatable results. In fact in scientifically controlled tests, they produce no results at all.

Why would you imagine that science would resort to superstition in order to explain the universe? You can't just make stuff up and say it's science.

  • @Alibally94

I can understand how a scientist might hold a view that science, (i.e. the way the universe is set up, the physical laws, etc) was "invented" by "god" in some magical, behind the scenes deist kind of thing. However, until there is evidence for god, that scientist will not think that "god" is an explanation. That would be a non-explanation.

Science has gradually squeezed out god from our understanding of how the universe works and now holds no place in our understanding of reality.

  • @Alibally94

If "god" is the explanation for the universe, then where did god come from? You haven't answered anything by inventing a "god" figure, just shifted the question. There is no evidence for the existence of god. God is just the gaps in out knowledge, filled by superstition and fantasy.

A rational thinking person needs evidence. A religious person not only denies evidence, but needs to believe in something literally unbelievable.

That's why science and religion are incompatible.

  • @Nilguiri

Ok, I'm a tolerant person so I understand that everyone has different opinions and views. I actually think it's great that we can say whatever we believe, but you're just insulting my beliefs and trying to tear them down. Do you actually feel good after dissing my entire understanding of life? You're not offering an explanation, you're just saying that mine is stupid. It's fine for you to think that but please keep your horrible comments to yourself.

  • @Alibally94

If you believe in something in spite of all evidence to the contrary and talk about it on YouTube, you should expect to receive comments. Don't take it personally!

    1. Yes, I am trying to tear down your beliefs; they are ridiculous.

    2. I'm not offering an explanation for what? You asked why "it is assumed that science and religion are polar opposites?" I was trying to explain why they that is so. i.e. Religion has decided to ignore the rules that govern the way that science works.

  • @Alibally94

No, I don't feel good in "dissing" your faith. I feel sad and frustrated that otherwise intelligent, normal people still cling to these outdated, childish superstitions.

If you truly believed in "god" or whetever it is you believe in, surely you shoud have confidence in standing up for it. Instead you feel offended that somebody spoke out against it.

If you had faith, my comments wouldn't affect you. Could it be that you are seeing faith for what it is? A scam for the gullible.

  • @Nilguiri - bede.org.uk/hieronymus.htm - tells u why you and the fundie Christians eventually end us sounding alike

  • @savioblanc

Scientists "can display astonishing ignorance and prejudice about other disciplines." Yes, if you call "theology" a discipline. Theology isn't a science. Who cares if some dumbass priest says to a scientist that he knows little about his hobby. It's all made up! It's not real!

As Dara would say. "Get in the fucking sack!"

  • @Nilguiri - And becos you say it is not a discipline, I guess it is not a discipline. Fine, Nilguiri, you are right.

But you know what, even though Einstein didn't quite agree with Monsignor Georges Henri Lemaitre on his proposal of the origin of the universe, something that we know today as "The Big Bang Theory" today, he at least had the humility to recognise that a Catholic priest had something to say about the universe and its beginings.

  • @savioblanc

The fact that Lemaître was a catholic, doesn't mean that the catholic church had anything to say about the big bang theory, although I suppose it was generous of them not not execute him or imprison him, which would have been more in line with their usual reaction to scientific advancement. They pardoned Galileo something like 360 years after his death.

Yes, there have been religious scientists, but their contributions have been in spite of religion, not because of it.

  • @Nilguiri - I'm sorry, but if you still belive tosh like "the church persecuted Galileo for his science" bullshit, then it is of no use to have a sensible argument with you. By now, we know the facts behind the "so-called persecution" and the fact is that Galileo was an egoistical dick who could even make his best friends turn on him, like Pope Urban. It was the the Church that was Galileo's main sponsor, it was Pope Urban who asked him to write the book on his views of heliocentrism.

  • @Nilguiri - It is becos of the Church that we even have the modern university system, it was the Churchmen who sat and worked on the sciences that gave Europe the edge over every other civilisation on earth, despite the fact that they too had made great advances. Please for goodness sake, remove your blinders and have a good read through the Bede website. Next you'll be telling me that people in the Middle Ages believed the world was flat becos the Church said so...

  • @savioblanc

If is wasn't for religion, specifically the catholic church holding science back, we would be five hundred years more technologically advanced. If we had had the sense to get rid of the pope and all of his ridiculous nonsense back then, we'd probably all be driving around in hover cars in a disease free, peacful world!

  • @Nilguiri - ok , you really are now in cuckoo land! the entire 20th century we did the whole "hey, religion is in the bin, we are awesome without God, fuck off Pope" - it didnt end too well, sadly. Plus, the fact that you cannot comprehend the fact that the Catholic Church was literally the only organisation keeping Europe from completely going down the shithole, shows me that keeping up to date with what historians are finding about the Middle Ages today is not your strength.

  • @Nilguiri - And I'm not saying that a scientist needs to listen to a dumbass priest who knows nothing about science. But if the dumbass priest is a scientist, he must listen to him and then the two can debate the right and wrongs. In the very same way, if a dumbass scientist who knows nothing about theology decides to discuss theology, he has every right to be badmouthed by a theology-trained priest - unless the scientist is also a theologian and then the two can debate the right and wrongs

  • @savioblanc

But why would a scientist be in the slightest bit interested in debating a theologian? What knowledge or insight could a theologian possibly bring to a scientific discussion? "God did it?. I'm afraid that doesn't help anybody. The fact that you, or anybody, may believe it to be true doesn't make it "science". He can only take part if he "leaves his faith at the door".

However, a scientist could take part in a religious discussion if he wished, given that it is all made up.

  • @Nilguiri - there is none, unless the scientist is debating theology and has no understanding of what he is discussing. Then the theologian can butt in. And a theologian has nothing to bring to a scientific discussion if he is a scientist as well. if he aint a scientist, then the Church makes it clear he has no reason for even being at the discussion - even when a Dominican friar insulted Galileo, the Dominicans told the friar to shut up and apologised on behalf of the order to Galileo personaly

  • @savioblanc

Anybody can be a scientist, even a theologian. However, when it comes to proposing hypotheses and theories, these have to stand up to the scientific method. Galileo, a Catholic, was one of the first people to understand this.

There are no rules in science against proposing a supernatual explanation for natural phenomena, however, if you try to base a theory on this, it will not stand up to scientific scrutiny. It cannot make predictions and the experiments are not repeatable.

  • @Nilguiri - and the Church agrees to all of this and as a Catholic understood this, yet decided to claim his findings as fact despite the fact that he had no got enough evdience to prove his heliocentric views. Instead of waiting and slowlying researching his theories, the arrogant prick that he was decided to insult his peers and his biggest supporter of all -the Pope. This was Renaissance Italy - you didnt insult some bastard and think you'd not have to face his wrath

  • @Nilguiri - And just becos you don't agree about a certain discipline being a discipline, said discipline does not cease to funtion as one. In fact, the bede website was absolutely right about what it said about scientists displaying ignorance and prejudice about other disciplines and you've just proven them right by the statement you made. The irony of course is lost on you. Hope you enjoyed the clip Nilguiri and at least we can both agree that Dara is fucking hilarious!

  • @savioblanc

There is no irony lost on me. I'm saying if you make stuff up and call it a "discipline", then there are no right or wrong answers. It is all literally made up! I don't see how being ignorant about made-up stuff is a problem.

To cling on to these fairy tales is not something to be valued. We know that Noah's flood didn't happen, there was no "Exodus", Moses and Abraham didn't exist. There is no evidence that even Jesus existed! And certainly none for "god".

    Yes, Dara is hilarious!

  • @Nilguiri - and until a few years ago, if you think Troy actually existed, you'd be considered a fool by historians, who'd make it clear to you that it was a "fairytale" written by some bearded man called Homer. Yes, we know that Noah's flood didnt happen, except we know that flood stories abound in nearly all cultures. And Jesus preached in the Juedean countryside and was executed as a criminal - y would we have proof about this guy? U think anyone in Rome gave a shit bout some Jewish criminal?

  • @Nilguiri - and yes, I do mean that there are way too many wilfully ignorant atheists too...I used to think that stupidity was a religious trait but have changed my mind about that ever since I actually dealt with people proudly saying they didnt belive in God and then watch them make an arse of themselves!

  • @savioblanc

Nobody said atheists can't make arses of ourselves, we just don't do it in the name of some made up "god"!

  • @Nilguiri -so at the end of the day, u agree they both make arses of themselves. Good enough for me!

  • @savioblanc

Everybody can make an arse of themself! Atheism is the rejection of faith and deities, etc. That still leaves an enormous opportunity to make a fool of oneself. Being an atheist obviously doesn't suddenly cure you of stupidity, but it's a good start.

  • The difference is that atheists don't do evil things in the name of atheism, unlike religion.

You can be an evil person in spite of religion.

Try to name a good or moral thing that a religious person could do that an atheist could not.

Now name a bad or wicked act that a religious person would do that an theist would never do.

An example might be the pope preventing poor gullible people to not use birth control, which is directly reponsible for causing MILLIONS of deaths through AIDS)

  • @Nilguiri - and how, pray tell, did you come to a conclusion that atheists don't do evil things in the name of atheism? and how r u defining evil here? becos u think its evil? becos many others think its evil? becos smart and intelligent people like you think it is evil?

And the pope is against using brith control, but he is strongly in support of people taking control over their sex lives, saying no their sex lust whenever and however. Millions die in Africa due to AIDS despite condoms.

  • @savioblanc

Of all the pig ignorant bullshit that you people spout, saying that atheists don't know right from wrong is about the most offensive.

The only reason you know how to cherry pick from your manual of morals, the bible (ironically, about the most immoral book around) is because of evolution by natural selection. Otherwise all of you gullible morons would be going around stoning everybody to death.

So, are you going to answer the question?

And it's spelled "because" for fuck's sake.

  • @Nilguiri - my my did I hurt the little atheists' feelings...awww poor baby and wow, I didn't know the two of us were part of the Secret YouTube Spelling Bee Competition as well....heck, we're just two bozos discussing science and religion and its supposed hatred for each other under a clip of a comedian making fun of protestants and catholics...who'd thunk - haha funny word there...thunk - that we had to be master spellers, as we rant about a topic that has mostly nothing to do with the clip

  • @Nilguiri - and when did I say that atheists don't know from right and wrong? I asked HOW they classified right and wrong. u mention natural selection...how interesting...I see someone has read Dawkins and is happy with the conclusion he came too. Ok, fine by me, but you do realise that the atheistic scientific community is still debating "morality" right? what has been explained by the Darwinian thesis is not morality, but altruism. Morality is still a minefield that needs some work on.

  • @Nilguiri - and the Bible the most immoral of books - wow, yes, quite a few shitty peices in the Bible but how did you come to the conclusion that it was ABOUT THE MOST immoral book around? Have you read ABOUT half of all the world's books penned down by man? You came to this conclusion how? Did you read the book with someone guiding you, especially since it was written over a period of 2000 yrs? still your conclusion seems retarted!

  • lol its so much funnier being Irish! Love Dara's comedy :P

  • The guy is fecking hilarious

  • this would be really funny if he had catholics and protestants burning alive onstage while he did his routine. thumbs up and maybe it will be in his next show.

  • NOW Amen!!!

  • hmm do catholics wedding make you sleep like protestant ones? cos i have only been to anglican ones and they sucked ass. so did the easter services and the rest. No offence intended to anyone religious

  • thumbs up if you're a mule child!

  • Hes a strong atheist and gets really pissed pissed of when people accuse him of being religious catholic or otherwise. Might explain why he constantly takes the piss out of it...

  • Dara O'Briain is Catholic and he attend UCD in Dublin for University.

  • @kerrydublin14 He is a 'bad Catholic' though, because he doesn't believe in God.

  • so true my sister married a protestant and they had a ugly child.

  • You win this one you crawly little pricks

  • irish accents are fucked

  • What a massive prick

  • Lovveeee this

  • My dads catholic and my mum is Protestant and I turned out fine!!!

  • @JessRawrrrr So what are you ? Which school do you go ? Just asking.

  • He is WROOOOOOONG

  • German Catholics say that line, too...haven't been there for a while, maybe they've changed it.

  • @Feldkahl If it's like the Mass in Canada/The US (which I'm assuming it is) the prayer ends a, "Deliver us from evil, Amen." And then the priest says (alone),

"Deliver us, Lord, from every evil and grant us peace in our day. In your mercy, keep us free from sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our savior, Jesus Christ"

And THEN the people and priest say together, "For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever."

  • We have that bit in NZ as well! AsksOneThing

  • blah blah blah blah bread.....blah blah blah blah trespassing! LOL :)

  • Christianity has sat back and said absolutely nothing whilst our homelands are invaded with limitless numbers of jews, Muslims, etc. Christianity is weak and useless, in future we will need to live without it if our people are to survive.

  • @stepheng1483 If you're thinking like that, "our people" are not Christians.

Christianity doesn't rail against "invasions" from "limitless" jews, muslims or anything else.

Christianity says "love your neighbour". Your rhetoric had no place coming out of a Christian mouth, which leads me to believe you're just some kind of nutcase who blathers on about Christianity because living in a nominally Christian country makes you think you know what you're talking about.

Oh, and it's "meek", not "weak".

  • Now... AMEN! LOL!

  • I just heard Mazel Tov in an Irish accent for the first time.

    I can die happy now.
