  • 600lbs of boost :p

  • @BFIPrank yeah you right. Lmao Durr durr. I just had a moment. Excuse me. Hahahaha

  • Train motors are huge electric motors powered by a generator for its power. They wouldn't have a supercharger. Crazy setup though.

  • @cgrobe21

Yes, the "traction motors" are powered by electric generators...... but what drives the generator? A diesel engine.

  • @Boss187ooo man foreign cars are for fucking rice racers nuff fucking said. Supercharged dodge daytona 4 life!!!!!!

    bitch ass hoe ass

  • all steel car

  • @Boss187ooo Another Internet Troll who drives a shit can Ricer with too much time on his? hands...

Or just a jealous loser? (or both) can't spell for shit LOL!

  • a train? haha its a detroit diesel compressor *not supercharger, DD made a compresor unit with a V12 twin supercharged 2 stroke engine. that "blower" was the compresor unit bolted to the engine.

  • 2;30 Thats what you can a Super Super charger.

  • Maybe this has been said already but here goes:

In the strictest sense a blower just moves air (like in the old Detroit 2 strokes), a supercharger "blows" air too but the difference is it blows more air than the engine could normally ingest. The air "stacks up" and you have boost or higher than atmospheric pressure in the plenum under the supercharger.

But yeah more often blower is just slang for supercharger.

  • damn

  • oh wow nice car man

  • That is a blower used in large displacement two stroke diesels because they cannot naturally aspirate air

  • Spooge! This is too good.!

  • Holy fuck!!! i didnt even know that existed

  • I aint gonna lie I jizzed

  • what is a frake train? or is it spelled on an other way?

  • @parth17870 wtf are you talkig about...... a supercharger is driven by your accessories belt. A turb is mounted on your exhaust manifold and uses a turbine mounted on a shaft that drives a compressor wheel on the intake side of the engine.which makes "boost". Or raises the intake pressure and density of the air going into the engine.

  • A supercharger is mounted to your shaft and uses your cars horse power to run it and create more. A turbo charger uses air coming from the engine and excessing it through the radiator.

  • @parth17870 That comment gave me cancer.

  • that nomad at the beginning was beast

  • @panzerkampfwagen123

You realize the difference between a compressor and a pump, right?

  • @panzerkampfwagen123

They're not the same thing. A supercharger compresses air, a blower doesn't. That's why they're called blowers, because all they do is pump air.

  • at 2:48 that may be the biggest supercharger in the world BUT look at what it is mounted on the '67 chevy camaro the most badass car of all time, and one huge ass blower to make it even more BADASS!!!!!

  • Redneck Engineering. It never works. You would think the guy would have spoken to the motor manufacturer prior to all of this. These guys waste more money chasing their tails.

  • I love Jalopnik

  • Muito louco

  • Holy shit... I'm wondering where this guy is and what's up with that car now, 4 years later. I wonder how many pistons he's shot into orbit by now...

  • tap the throttle and it raised the front wheels off the ground an inch and blew both head gaskets ha!

  • wonder who got fired for a dumass mistake like that?

  • that's one huge supercharger damn!

  • think thats big you should see the blower on my granny's fleetwood :D ha ha just kiddin , that damn thing is HUGE can you say "BOOST"

  • for the benefit of knowledge a " blower" is another term used for the roots supercharger, so it is in fact a supercharger....

  • where can i get one of those :D

  • WHHAAAAAT! i think it came off of a train...so i fitted it to my car :O

  • i wanna see that blower on a metro! lol

  • I've seen a blower like that on the extraction on the local wooden kitchen factory. Well ok they had two

  • I NEED THAT BLOWER! Picture THAT stickin out of my Geo Metro convertible hood!

  • alright simple leason turbos are exhuast driven and superchargers are belt driven they both do the same thing they pressurise atmosheric air into the cars intake manifold all in the name of making what everyone wants HORSEPOWER and i do have the degree and was validictorian and im ASE master certified in auto and diesel with the both L1 and L2 adv. certifications i know what im talking about

  • I wish they still stuck with the full name for a turbo... as in turbo supercharger then maybe it would make it a lot easier for these kiddies to understand.

  • @wfw5607 You could also mention that "Blower" is just another name for a root's style supercharger.

  • so would the turbos be better cause your not loosing power as the supercharger you would loose power because of the belt?

  • yes up to a point u can put turbos so large on the engine that it cant turn them efficently enough to make power(ie u wont be able to make enouhg boost pressure) where the blower can at high output engines(4000hp plus) can make more power than a turbo system

  • thanks for clearing that up for me

  • no problem any other car questions i got it coverd

  • @untamed169 yea, but turbo's cause lag and surge so theres ups and downs for both turbo and belt driven superchargers

  • You children need to stop arguing about who took the best class and who has the best degree from UTI or Wyotech. You might as well be saying "yeah, I'm the head chef....at the local Burger King"

  • also, it's in the book, if you actually take time to read it, or take the time to be certified. A8 - Engine performance goes over the types of superchargers pro's and con's as well as turbo's and experimental superchargers.

  • i'll clear this up. this IS a supercharger. there are two types of SUPERCHARGERS. ROOTS AND CENTRIFUGAL. roots are also know as blowers. both of which are belt driven. the difference is one uses lobes (roots), the other uses a compressor wheel(centrifugal) much like a turbocharger. its different from a turbo because it doesn't use exhaust gases to spin the compressor wheel, it uses a belt.

if you want to learn about cars, take an ASE course like i did.

  • Comment removed

  • i was explaining the sub categories of superchargers since there was confusion. oh yeah sure we can break down roots style to design of lobes, internal or external by-pass etc etc. ASE certified is the most recognized status in the automotive field. UTI and Wyotech are schools for ASE. The "dealerships" you must be talking about are mom and pop shops, or if your from where i live, mexican shops. I've never seen a reputable dealership have NON-certified techs.

  • Comment removed

  • @dragracer718fc Whatever you are taking, I'll take like 15.

  • There are also twin screw superchargers.

  • a blower is the exact same thing as a blower, just a shorter word is all

  • the only blower i see here is you

  • The amount of horsepower the engine would need to run that blower would be massive. I read somewhere the setup top fuelers use, require at least 700 hp just to spin the blower. And that thing is way bigger than any type of blower, charger, roots type compressor or whatever you want to call them.

  • Ok Mr. Know-It-All..... explain the difference between a blower and a supercharger.

  • Alrighty then......let's start with the basics. A supercarger is spun by the belts on the pulley system on the car. When the belt is pulled it spins a turbine in the supercharger housing creating an air flow. This air is sent to the engine to incresing cylinder pressure. Which creates horsepower or boost.

  • These are used on non-carbeurated engines only. Now, a blower sits on top of the intake manifold and the carberateur sits on top of the blower. Thus, the air is sucked in through the scoop, pulled into the blower, mixed with fuel by the two lobes in the blower(which are belt driven) and then the air fuel mixture is pumped into the engine. Simple as that. Both have the same principle.

  • ok a blower like you is a person that blows dicks and a supercharger is like a turbo but beter

  • Ugh. They're the same damn thing.

  • @nitro9200rpm well theres not really a difference. most people just refer to each as 2 different things but the way i know it as is a supercharger forces more air into the intake, whereas a blower (in the way it is referred) is basically serves the same principle as a breather aka air filter. u can have either one without having to have the other one. some people put blowers on their superchargers to get more air flow into the supercharger.

  • @TheBulldawg1991 Usually the term blower is just slang for a supercharger. However, a blower can also mean a supercharger that doesnt actually pressurize the incoming air, its more of an air mover, like the old 2-stroke diesels. The supercharger can trace it roots (no pun intended, lame pun) back to mine ventilation equipment. Maybe you already knew all that, but you worded your comment funny?

  • @nitro9200rpm thats it mate :) what a fucken nob

  • @nitro9200rpm Its funny because they are exactly the same!

  • @nitro9200rpm a blower is a roots type supercharger, the other kind of supercharger is a centrifugal.

  • @seroyer2

A Roots is commonly called a supercharger, but a Roots doesn't actually compress air, it just pumps it. The compression comes from the fact that the blower is pumping more air than the engine is using.

A Lysholm (screw-type) supercharger DOES compress air, and it's not the same thing as either a Roots or a centrifugal. There are more than 2 types of superchargers.

  • @nitro9200rpm what is the difference if any?

  • @Suprakidd1 There is no difference, blower is just a less technical term

  • @nitro9200rpm A blower is just a different way of saying roots type supercharger..

  • @worldofwilfred

I know this....... When I posted that question, it was in response to a guy who claimed a blower was different than a supercharger.

  • a blower is the slang term for supercharger i think.

  • @brandoiscool13 owned

  • @brandoiscool13 hey, the term "blower" is a commen nick name for a supercharger einstein

  • @brandoiscool13 its a supercharger and a blower dumbass

  • @brandoiscool13 there isnt a difference so stop being jealous and go look at some honda's

  • @brandoiscool well apparently mr knows it all doesn't know S H I T !! what do you drive a big wheel ? what a moron!! this is got to be the funniest comment ive seen on youtube! sense of humor without brains. go shoot yourself in the head you S T U P I D F U C K !!

  • Holy shit fucking balls

  • hahahahahahhaa LOL !!! thats true !!

  • sounds like him too!

  • @JaredSmlth WIN

  • @JaredSmlth sounds like him too lol

  • great video

  • damn now thats wat i call a SUPERcharger, i wish my gtp could have that blower lolz

  • holy hell

  • Comment removed

  • It barely has a bonnet left o.o

  • what really happen is that he drove around the world 7 times before the head gasket blew he just didnt realize it lol

  • now i dont no wat to think, but my gut tells me HOLY SHIT! too bad it blew BOTH head gaskets. man thats power...

  • yes that a blower off a locomotive it come off a GM v12 2 stroke locomotive.. those locomotive motor have 2 blowers one on each side...

  • looks like fake -.-

  • you mom is fake

  • NOT FAKE

  • yeah you're right. can't argue with that

  • it was mechanical failure not design flaw.

i wouldve put a thicker wheelie bar, since its all steel. thats a lot of weight and pressure to put on two 3' in bars

  • thts sad how the camaro flipped on the side :(

  • what the fuck thats huge

  • holy mother of superchargers that thing is insane

  • that big supercharger needs more horsepower than it delivers

  • hoy fuck!!!!!!!!!! thats awesome

  • yes they should... a fat tank, lol mustangs suck dick muahahaha

  • He crashed, piss poor designer.

  • did he say "It's no cake walk there"? @ 3:53

  • Why is there no audio during the interviews?

  • you must have the sound whired to mono only right channel, because in the interviews the sound is only in the left channel

  • The blower in question is off a train engine.

  • hmm that supercharger must of been american built lol. id love to put that on a big rig and race ricers ha ha ha, dont worry some one will do it!

  • i think im gonna visit the junkyard more often

  • be a waste of a blower lol

  • holy shit. he barely hit the pedal and the front end lifted and blew both head gaskets. thats crazy!!! hahahah

  • yea good for u... u have ears!!! nice job!

  • I have raced at the Ozark IR and pretty sure his gouges in the pavement are still there to this day. Bad ass car.

  • "Real cars" haha

  • I could use one of those for our 2009 Focus :P

  • LOL YES

  • How about a stuff on fucking topic fund!

  • FUCK. ME.!!!!

  • thats a supercharger off a EMD 12 cil deasl and yes trains and offshore supply boats have superchargers

  • they shoud put that blower on that mustang with the sherman tank motor

  • they should put a sherman tank on a mustang! lol

  • oh my god its that big it looks like its been photoshoped

  • Freight trains have superchargers now??

  • That is correct. I had one as a flower poy in my front yard. They have blown diesel engines that drive generators, which in turn drive electric traction motors.

  • Cool, thanks for the info.

  • fuckwit

  • Gonna need some rubbing compound

  • God damn! That makes my 2.1l blower look like a lunchbox!!!

  • thats an old video i have most of urbanhillbilly racing videos

  • that is one big bad blower

  • It lurfted the frunt up abowt an inch er two, then it blew them gash darned hedgaskits, gahuck.

  • No turn over no care. If it isn't running it doesn't matter.

  • mines bigger

  • haha lol, u wish

  • I want to see this car make a pass

  • yee-haw!

  • well, as long as its not FWD.

  • I cant put enough "+"'s next to this one!

    I don't like fwd!

  • ricers are just mad that the supercharger is bigger than their engine

  • KISS MY AMERICAN ASS!!!

  • let's put that blower on my Dad's 1991 VW Fox! that would be pretty wierd, seeing a Fox wth that beast sticking out of its hood.

  • kwlll

  • Info on the motor that huge blower came off off.. CHECK THIS OUT FOR HP!! The EMD 710 is a large 2 stroke diesel engine that has 710 in³ (11.63 l) displacement per cylinder. Since its introduction EMD has continually upgraded the 710G diesel engine. Power output has increased from 3800 hp on 1984's 16-710G3A to 4300 hp as of 2006 on the 16-710G3C-T2.

  • a top fuel dragster engine is 500 cu. in. and that makes 8000 hp

  • haha, let's put that blower on my V6 Blazer lol but for real it would probably take the whole power of the engine to turn the thing over

  • awesome performances of this cars

  • That blower looks like it came off of an EMD 2 stroke diesel.

  • Not only can u pick up the kids, buy groceries, but now you can beat Ferrari's and lambo's for a low price of only 9999.99! only! no scam

  • Supercharger that instantly blows head gaskets, CRAZY!!!!

  • i would love to know what the compression is on that thing! and what tipe of pistons have to handle it!

  • Im getting a second of playback every minute, and I know it's not my connection.. pull it together youtube.

  • same thing here, it started yesterday, WTF is wrong with this page? :S

  • HOLY SHIT!!!

  • NICE F'n CAR MAN...(more than i can say for your wheelie bars) TWO THUMBS UP THOUGH BUD.

  • wow

  • geez, i thought superchargers lik that were only on funny cars and top fuels and maybe ww2 planes.... damn, i want one!! :D

  • no not even close on a funny car

thay are still like half that

  • lol the car is like "aww i got a scratch"

  • HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!! That thing is going to be the end of the world as we know it

  • Even with an 800 cube motor, you'd still have to underdrive the hell out of that blower.

  • dam thereis no way he can see whats going on past the iron wall or TURBO!!

  • HOLY SHIT CAKE

  • may i have a slice????

  • LMAO XD

  • I would love for him to run that car down the track with that big supercharger on it

  • Sign of poor education.

  • Damn. People really care about my spelling but they use poor grammar. Nobody wants to use proper punctuation or capital letter at the beginning of sentences and someone mispells a stupid word and people bitch like some lesbian on the rag. By the way, you just typed a verbless sentence fragment, blyndrotor.

  • everyone mispells a time or two. anyone who thinks or says they don't or likes to point out other people's mistakes obviously have a God complex. so anyway...everyone can kiss my mispelling ass. :x

  • You protest far to much.

I could have called it lazy.

  • nah i'm not protesting; i'm just being a hardass. so, yea laziness exactly. i'm too lazy to spell or use caps and correct punctuations like the rest on an internet forum ; its not a sign of poor education. i know i wouldnt be typin or spellin like this if i was an editor for a newspaper . oh and u mispelled the word "to" its "too". j/k

  • oh my f***ing god did he get that off a Concorde?
