I've seen interviews with KWS, and, he seems like one of the most un-selfish musicians I've ever heard talk. But, it is HIS album. Like with Santana, Jeff Beck, even Van Halen, the guitarists are like the spokespersons and namesakes of the band. I don't think Kenny's tryin to be self centered though

I didn't compare Shepherd to Hendrix, I noted that music has changed in such a way that a brilliant guitarist is ignored by the mainstream music industry and the general population of music listeners, whereas in the 60's and 70's, actual musicianship was revered before looks and popularity were in the music culture.
