  • Legend.

  • Could there be anyone live or dead who is so crafted in there art, no answers required. PURE GENIUS!

  • Rory was the greatest power guitar player ever! I would say that of the 484, 629 views, a LOT of them are me, especially when I need inspiration. As for the 13 dislikes..... PUSSIES!!!!!!

  • greatest rock @ roll guitarist of all time

  • An absolute f--cking genius.

  • I just saw his statue in Ballyshannon .

  • Sorry, meant to say his writing was secondary to his playing which, incidentally, is superior.

  • Maybe if there was a guitar player hall of fame but he'll never make it to the rock and roll hall because he didn't write, or, at least, his writing was very secondary to his writing.

  • world, boom. keeeed. even jimi said rory was the best.

  • love it say no more

Does any body know what ever happened to his worn out strat?????

  • @vzr8350 That baby is in a meuseum. Check out wiki

  • I3 dislikes?! are some people crazy or just plain clueless out there??

  • @9903kateyes obviously both!

  • @9903kateyes yeah....to dislike this you really can't be much of a music fan

  • Taste, superb band, Blister on the Moon and Born on the wrong side of time, two of my favourite all time classic songs.

  • I saw Rory's first US performance, back in the early 70's at the Academy of Music, NYC. He played Messin w/the Kid - it left a mark on me that has never gone away ...

  • @hdsrvc i saw him when he was with Taste in 1971. When da gig was over he came over and sat on da edge of da stage and asked me and me friend what we thought of the show. i couldnt even answer the man. ah memories.

  • Sheer effin genius, enjoy enjoy enjoy, won't see anything like this ever again!

  • Makes me smile.

  • Another powerhouse peformance!!!!!!

  • HOT!!!!

  • yeahh , can U feel it.... the Power of the Spirit....that´s missing today.... handmade Rock and Blues.... ROOOORRRYYY we NEEEDDDD youuuuuuu BACK

  • i remember seeing taste when i was a kid,a genius

  • rory's playing in a pyjama :-)

  • Man that guy could go crazy

  • Who cares about the R&R 'hall of fame'? The proof is in the pudding.

  • i saw rory open for rush on the signals tour (I think) and he kicked their ass, even though the crowd chanted " we want rush" during the whole set. under-rareted guitarist.

  • @zenphil ....under-rated only by those people who are totally ignorant to music and listen to top 40....LOL

    ROCK ON!!!

  • @akrocuba Agreed.

  • is rory playin a copy of stevies nr 1?

  • @steira21 He's playing the same Strat he always played, at least since I became a fan in 1970. I'm not sure, but I don't think Fender put out the SRV Strat until after Rory passed on. I saw Rory live on numerous occasions in the 70's and 80's and never saw him play another (different) electric guitar. I saw him play an acoustic Martin and an electric sitar, but that's it.

  • @cs868 Regarding his well-used early 60s Stratocaster, the first in Ireland I once heard, the only other guitar I saw him play or be pictured with, aside from an acoustic or mandolin, was a Telecaster he used for slide guitar work. I saw him at the Dagenham Roundhouse C.1971. His beat-up old Vox AC30 amp was on a chair next to him with a PA mic in front of it. A dazzling guitarist, he also played alto sax with his earlier band Taste, on their classic 'On the Boards' album, one of his best works.

  • @TheSnedderingYunk Thanks for the reply. Man, Rory was so pure - guitar, cable amp. That's it. I have the 'On The Boards' album on vinyl. That was my first experience with Rory's music. 'Morning Sun' , 'See Here'. He did play some nice sax on that record and I don't think he recorded any sax again after that. He let his guitar playing do the talking.

  • @steira21 hahaha no way this would be hilarious!!!!

  • These 13 people are the ones who wanted Madonna in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

  • absolutley fantastic. rory your talent will always be missed. paul luton

  • "-How do you feel to be the best guitarist in the world?

    -Go ask Rory Gallagher !"

    Jimi Hendrix ;)

  • @aloun22 I was gonna write the same. Right on, brotha! I would have said 'how does it feel?' ;) ;)

  • @Seanus32 I'm french ! Sorry, my english isn't perfect, but thank you for the post ! Keep' on rockin' man ! ;)

  • @aloun22 You are French, I am Scottish. We have an auld Alliance :) :) Ne t'inquiete pas :) (I remember this from school). Salut/chinchin :) :) Raising a beer to salute you and Rory :)

  • He died from complications after a liver transplant is what I understand.

  • OK. That was hot!

  • My Hero!

  • @HOLLYWOODHICK how did he die?????????? i heard his liver failed??? why???

  • His bands were always more high energy than Led Zep if ya ask me.

  • Rory was as talented and musically blessed as Frank Zappa, BB, EC, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore...why compare, just enjoy the difference and be glad they don't sound alike!!! Rory needs to be in the H.O.F. or it is no such thing!! No Wonder it is in Sleasland OH

  • Listen to this song. Realise they haven't induct him in the Rock and roll hall of fame yet. "FUCK ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!"

  • Hey 2 all !!! I've been 2 d St Oliver's Graveyard in Cork 4 so many times !!!! Rory is d best of all !!!!

When He went 2 d other side the world has lost a Genuine Good and Honest Irish Soul !!!!

Long Live Rory and Long LIve Ireland !!!!!!!

  • NO i dont pay any attention to john mayer.....

  • I saw Rory at the Comadore Ballroom in Vancouver, 2nd best live show I ever saw, he tore the roof down, thanks rory

  • Holy s@&t iv'e been living in a f^#king cave. This music is AWESOME!

  • I remember waking up and hearing Rory was gone.

He still had a LOAD of work to do! The man was only half way through what he was doing.

    Great upload thanks for sharing.

  • How long?

  • 13 people who saw this just plain suck

  • wow, this fricken rocks! different but in a great way

  • the best ever

  • you got to be kidding me rory is in a class by himself he is the master on guitar!!! dont compare him to srv .. they are both the masters !!!!!!!

  • Im gonna get hated for this, but he lost the bluesy feel that the original has. And although he's a talented player and I like listening to him, he's not nearly as good as SRV.

  • @Rattenhoofd PLEASE DONT COMPARE RORY TO SRV THEY ARE BOTH MASTERS ON THE GUITAR!!

  • @Rattenhoofd . rory owns srv.

  • @Dead4everYoung now thats a fan with balls ......Goood for you ,even if i dont agree.............

  • @jeffsdolphin . yeah well stevies voice is annoying, his songs are boring, and he came out way later. i just never liked em and im a blues lover .. steves rhythm section was tight i must say

  • @Dead4everYoung thats alright dude ....my roomate was rory city.....i fucking understand .........he let me learn about your bro...........Rory ...rory rory ......BULLFROG BLUES

  • @jeffsdolphin . LOL your lucky to have such an awesome friend ! he was just looking out in your best interest bro! so you wouldnt ever end up looking foolish in an online discussion about srv being more badass than rory?! ppfffff lol just kiddin . but not really lol ur alright man , no matter what they say about you lol

  • @Dead4everYoung i also think your a.o.k.---but stevie vaughn was more proffficient than rory but RORY had more,happy.pappy........Do ypu like hurdy gurdy man-donovan just curious

  • @jeffsdolphin .naw, season of the witch is cool. when sick bands cover it . but that isnt your style , right next to srv u probly got some more 'real proffficient' blues slingers like johhny lang , or oohh i know! JOHN MAYER ! am i right?

  • @Dead4everYoung fuck your online elitist crap

  • @Rattenhoofd matter of opinion.you are just as much entitled to your favourites as we are.rory being the humble gent he was,im sure would not take offence but its only natural that us fans would try to defend him

  • @missatomickitten hear, hear ! cheers !

  • whew, fasten yer seat belts

  • R.I.P. Rory

  • @stevevaifan1 Sorry! Matter of opinion, not fact! Very different tones, agreed, and in almost every sense I prefer SRV's tone(!), but he was just a lame derivative of Albert King & Hendrix. Not a note of originality. Walter Trout, for example, is a much better guitarist, so is Snowy White, & THE most under rated of the lot is Bernie Marsden. Not only is his playing & tone out of this world, he has a GREAT voice, too! Check out Blues & Greens to see what I mean

  • If anyone deserves to be in the rock hall it is Rory from 1971-1974 he was voted best guitarist ahead of them all in melody maker in london. all of the bands that came out of ireland owe it all to him !No one was more true to his craft that Rory!

  • @RobertPaulGoode i saw him many times was amazing one of the best or maybe the best really missed !

  • 2 words: fucking brilliant!

  • Never better, furious on stage, always played like it might be his final performance, just ON FIRE ! God knows how that Strat survived the beating, but I bet it LOVED being in Rory's gifted hands !

  • Never could understand why he wasn't an even bigger star! Better voice & player than SRV any day of the week!

  • A Monsterous Tone..

  • rory!greece!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rory was and is THE BEST! Nobody can play all the different styles like Rory Gallagher!

  • Thganks for this. Fuckin A

  • he was,he is and will always be the best!! rest in peace my brother

  • I WAS BORN TOO DAMN LATE =(

  • @muhammedgreenberg i love jimi , stevie et al but the most constantly entertaining suprising energetic, skilul accomplished of them all has to be rory

  • Merci, danke, gracias Rory. Au revoir.

  • Whatever...he's amazing!

  • " See you again, hopefully sometime soon..." That was the last time Rory played montreux...

  • His hands were so small compared to other guitarists

  • Rory was the best, God bless shim

  • LEGEND

  • i saw him 20-30 times..and every performance was packed with great soulful blues and high energy tuneful rock with blistering and crafted guitar solos.

He was a genius. This isnt his best version....check out "in europe" of course...and rorys in concert on the bbc around 1971...that for me is one of the greatest tracks of all time .

    Rory Gallagher......TRUE LEGEND

  • I saw Rory in San Antonio in the fall of 1973 and he was amazing. He opened for Rod Steward who was also pretty good but what a difference. Rory came out playing raw blues and Rod came out in a ballerina tootoo.

  • Wish I was born earlier to see him live, such energy and passion, R.I.P rory :(

  • my father saw him severall times in lyon (france), he told me once rory was in a pub (crowded) discussing with people and that he had payed the drinks for everybody

  • That was bloody excellent.

  • saw rory twice in newcastle, crying shame why so many great artists have to kill themselves to be remembered so well.guess its the pressure they cant handle.been to his local in cork a few times, thats now closed!!say lavie!!

  • @MegaHacker56

Rory Gallagher didn't kill himself. He underwent what should have been a routine operation in a London hospital, but it went disastrously wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • @m06een00 Rory was in Rotterdam and went to a hospital in Amsterdam. After he got a new liver, he died shortly after because of a lunginfection.

  • RORY IS "THE KID" IN MY BOOK ,NO BULL,JUST LOVED TO PLAY AND ENTERTAIN

NEVER SAW HIM LIVE WHAT SHAME.Love his work ,visit his grave in Cork from time to time ,he was a class act

  • Fantastic!

  • Had the great fortune of seeing Mr. Gallagher at the Roxy in Hollywood. True artist fantastic guitarist. and a appreciative performer who gave his all at the show. A true inspiration.

  • A GENUINE gentleman and awesome talent . Represented everything good in rock and blues. RIP Rory. Our world is richer for having you , however brief

  • when i die i'd love to jam with this guy up there

  • I only got to see Rory once, front row small venue, opened for Kansas. The six of us that went together were the only Gallagher fans in attendence...at the beginning. After one and half tunes the crowd was on its feet and Rory blew the house down. Kansas didnt play, technical problem. Yea right.

  • please don't go to ipetition in the description. I think that Rory is one of the best kept secrets in music, he never did it for the fame but for the music. Rory should be kept for those who love music and are willing to look a little deeper for the real musicians unlike all the modern computer pop shit fakes.

  • @spudvader86

i absolutely agree. although i think he deserves it more than anyone, its not something he really cared about. he loved playing his music and thats it.

  • Mr Gallagher is firing on all cylinders! Blistering playing!

  • You're right, but when you're a virgin at 17 with a hot 23 year old chick, and just got done seeing Gallagher at his peak, then getting laid 4 the first time sure felt like I grew up fast that night....

  • very good!!!!!!!!!

  • he is def top ten all time but he is no srv...... sorry

  • @agiordano1017

And SRV is no Rory. So what? Both were pretty damned awesome and left us with some fine tunes

  • the best version ever of this song

  • @gixer121121 thanks, I am grateful for your kind words, thanks from Les in Scotland

  • I enjoy Rory much more than Johnny Winter.......

  • @stonedpimpdaddy hi there as an unbiased ulsterman raised on blueprint and live in europe rory outshone them all

  • @hotbuelick Agreed!

  • Niiicceee,nice

  • @RUDEGOOD I saw Rory many times live and there was nobody like him. SRV was a great player too and if you think he was the best, thats fine, These posts are just our opinions, there is no right or wrong. It is just what you like most and for me it was Rory. Cheers.

  • @getarslim I prefer Rory over SVR , Jimmi Hendrix or anybody really. His style and unasuming grace is just the best!

  • @stonedpimpdaddy Yes Rory was the most talented and unassuming player I have seen. Saw him many times live he was 'the man' thanks so much for your support, cheers Les in Scotland

  • @stonedpimpdaddy Hendrix credited Gallagher as better player then he was !

  • @ukraininoak That is a matter of opinion and preference

  • @getarslim Right On

  • @gixer121121 thanks mate, from Les in Scotland who watched Rory since he played with Taste

  • A legend!

  • A legend!

  • u bet i'll sign it...there's another one for leon russell

  • to be honest i dont think rory would give a rats ass if he was in the hall of fame or not, he wasnt interested in all that fame/commercial side of things, he just liked playing live and he was awsome simple as.......

  • If someone belongs there... it's Rory!

  • Gee, I wonder if Yngwie Malmsteen didn't cop a thing or twelve from Rory Gallagher? Rory was the real Johnny B. Goode. My how that little country boy could play.

  • The man! wow

  • fan since the 70s

  • I thought he was in

  • I didn't know he wasn't in the Hall of Fame. That's a sin...to me, to him, to Rock N Roll

  • legend. sorely sorely missed....

  • fuckin treasure, this man

  • Hearing version of that song from LP "Live in Europe" (1972) I become addicted to his guitar and voice ... it will never stoped, no matter of his or my death.

  • The greatest white bluesman ever, loved you Rory

  • Genius

  • FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THE MANN!!!!!!

  • I saw him in Hollywood in 1979 (I think). He kicked ass, of course.

  • never been any better live, no more to say!

  • Wow, great version of "messing with the kid", Gallagher´s Voice is very nice to, but the Keayboarder (like my opinion) is very bad.
