Pittsburgh music . . .the BEST! Just like the Boss Man, Pork the Tork, Porky Chedwick - - - - a legand in their own time! Thanks Porky for playing this on WAMO many moons ago!! CFN
@calling40 Guy on the left is the DJ who made the song a hit just 6 hours after it was recorded, but the guy on the right is my buddy, Stu Phillips, who discovered & produced the Marcels 50 years ago. The man was a beast! Check out the link below to know more about him. This is the same guy who later scored & conducted all the music for Battlestar Gallactica! His playlist is just 1 of 800 in my channel's music library of lists for every year since 1900. chuck
@Migratoryprimate I'm glad you enjoyed my playlist tribute for Stu Phillips. He had one of the most diverse music careers in Hollywood, yet was under the radar most of the time due to contractual complications and cronyism. He had some good breaks to offset the bad ones. I've read the book about his 40-year career - amazing how much in life happens just by chance! chuck
It was all serious at the end of American Werewolf and then it went black....then I heard bom bu bu bom bu bom bu bom bom and I burst out laughing! cool song
@colindaleradiosutch This beast actually sold 2.5 million copies!!! Recorded in a single take! I spent an hour with Stu Phillips last week - the producer who put the Marcels on the map with this song 50 years ago this month. An amazing composer/arranger/conductor, he did the music for Battlestar Gallactica, Buck Rogers & Knight Rider & 12 albums as leader of Hollyridge Strings. go to his channel at bsgkr2000 & show Stu some love - he's earned it. We wouldn't have this song without him !!! chuck
@krackenzap The guy on the right is music wiz Stu Phillips, who launched the Marcels recording career while at Colpix Studios. It was Stu's first breakout production success, the final recording in a 4-song session & planned to be the second 'B' side. They showed up in NYC in a raging blizzard & had to WALK from the Lincoln Tunnel to the Colpix offices! A stealth operation start to finish, bootleg released to WINS radio & playing ONLY TWO HOURS AFTER THE DEMO WAS CUT. Grammy nominated that year!
LA music wiz Stu Phillips was the producer on this & helped select this song for them to sing. They needed one more song to finish up, one of the Marcels knew this & taught it to the others!
Harvey and I just got home from a Marcels concert here in Battle Creek, MI. They were as fabulous as ever- and so gracious and warm - I even got a 25th wedding anniversary kiss from each and every one of the them- Bobbie
@athenafloroendo - I think it's awesome, too! Added it to my 1961 playlist. I've made 500 playlists. 111 of them let you hear the music of any year since 1900 as if you've stepped back in time.
350 artists each have playlists too. My channel is over a century of pop music from around the world.

I agree....Will Smith look alike.
The guy on his right reminds me of a younger Billy Joel....The guy on his left has that Bobby, from the Mousekateers look of the 50's.
yikes....Ain't life a gas.
