  • were all kids like this back in the day? So extreme, no one talks like that today...haha

  • is this review for the psp?:P

  • @00poopmonster: It's mainly for the PC and Mac versions.

  • The guy who made Braid is kinda making a remake ya all!

  • Do you think the creature should remake this franchise to fit with today's tech and place it on the consoles. keep the gameplay, but advance the graphics?

  • The only part that I'm having problems with is the spaceship puzzle, where you have to enter the notes in correctly. >:(

  • There is a clue for what button you should press on that compass. Unfortunatel, nobody seems to read the books on the shelfs (or a walkthrough ;-) )

  • Video Length = 7 minutes 35 seconds.

Total number of times you slapped your knees = 19

  • OH MY GOD! YOU USE YOUR BRAIN!? NO WAAAYYYY!

  • MYST is one of the best games ever made! I can spend hours just walking round looking at stuff XD

  • I always liked that about Myst. Really playing the game through without cheating can take a pretty long time, but once you've done it you can see how the whole game can be done start to finish in less than two minutes. I also like the irony of how the key to finishing the game is the very first thing you see, Interesting concept of how levels aren't played through for the sake of finishing the levels, but for the information you get from the levels.

  • I luv the Myst intro music!

  • played this with my dad, had to mute it because the sound was scary to me

  • Played this game while in middle school when it first came out. It was a very interesting experience. Got far, but got too busy with school to complete.

  • good review but there are spoilers

  • wait, you made a review but, WITH SPOILERS? You're an idiot.

  • great review! very entertaining ^^

  • That's why i bought the book so if i don't mess up

  • What is that, a Performa?

  • i had this game many many years ago!! i loved it!!! but it was very frustrating!!! i came to a point where i didnt know what to do anymore!! ugh. :)

  • gosh... I remember I would try to play this when I was REALLY REALLY little and I hated it... I took it out again a few years back with my best friend, printed off a walkthrough, and beat the game in like 20 minutes. So funny.

  • It makes me smile knowing that at the age of 8 I was smarter than that of an 18 year old.

  • does realmyst still have the save problem

  • No, it doesn't. In RealMyst you save and it continues exactly where you left off.

  • rofl

  • whos this guy? why is he so angry

  • LMFAO. YEAH AHHHAHAH.

    Beartaxes aahahahaha

  • virginity is strong with this one

  • @thebeartaxes

No, but it's strong with thebeartaxes

  • damn, your a great reviewer and this looks like an interesting game. thanx for the review

  • Nice review. Pretty well done. Where are you studying in? How about doing more reviews to walk us through the game?

  • Wow your a great game reviewer :D

I dont like this kind of games though..

  • Riven was even harder (but it didn't have that "Saving" problem).

5 Stars and Rock Rock On!

  • Haha, Myst is the story of my life basically. My father has been programming little tekst based adventures for me since I was 3 (and thaught myself to read), then, Lost Eden, Amerzone, Myst etc.... I still really miss these kind of adventures, they aren't made anymore in this kind of quality. Myst V I played in 48 hours, without walkthoughs....

I'm sure these kinds of games helped greatly in shaping my perception and understanding of the actual world though. It teaches you diffrent ways tothink

  • i hate myst 5. it was a step back. they should make more uru games, i love uru. and i love the original myst and myst IV, i have yet to play riven and exile

  • Riven is the best :3

  • I remember playing this game with my father years and years ago (I was only 9 years old, we completed it) so I don't think you need to be a "science college" graduate.

  • From your review it seems halo 4 is kind of boaring

  • Nice review! I rember playing this game when I was little. I never knew how to get closer to the end of the game. You should do more game reviews!

By the way, did you get friend invitation?

  • You be smart

  • Does anyone else find this series of games creepy/scary?

  • Yeah. It has it moments when it's creepy. Especially with the fact that you're trapped in another world by yourself. The music always gave me chills too. Man. I had wierd dreams about this game when I was little.

  • Heh, Yes I do sometimes, definetly. Did you play Riven? I did, all on my own, in the dark, when I was sure my mom was sleeping and wouldn't come and scold me. I practically fell off my chair any time I needed to change disks :P.

  • LOL!

  • This is a great review :D

  • today i got a sega saturn for 10 dollars, sonic 3d blast 5 dollars, grid runner 5 dollars ultimate mortal kombat 3 5 dollars, and myst for 3 dollars =), but i need to buy a controler and an av jack cord =(

  • What? What there a decription of myst in the first game? At the begining?

  • I like your shirt.

  • Maaaajor Nostalgia Trip! My mom and I beat this when I was in grade school! Lawl.

You are just not that smart enough to follow the clues given to you in the game. Thats all!

  • I beat this game when I was 13, you dont have to be that smart just have patients and use the clues you dodo

  • ppl that have degrees and/or went to science collage??? are you serious? i played this game at the age of 8! its not that hard.

  • why do you keep deleting all of the hate comments? that dragon shirt is gay btw

  • I deleted them because I don't want my pages cluttered with garbage. Sorry you don't like my shirt.

  • @Guptill89

    I don't blame you.

  • IS THIS HALO 3?

  • Ha ha, very funny.

  • The clue for the underwater lights on the Stoneship age is in the telescope at the top of the rocks. You'll notice it points in degrees. When the battery in the lighthouse is charged and you point the telescope at the lighthouse top you'll notice it's flashing.

The degrees the telescope is pointing at now is the location of the correct button on the compass rose that turns on the under water lights.

...you're right. To play we need science degrees..

  • CAN ANY ONE TELL ME WHERE TO FIND THIS GAME!Me and my father are trying to find this game at some stores. my dad had the game once. were going to try to find the entire series.

  • Try going on Ebay(dot)com.

  • Ebay is the best way

  • I don't know about the first version, but realMyst, which is the same game, but remade so you can fully explore the worlds is FREE on GameTap, all you have to do is register, and it's legal. :)

  • somepeople think illegal downloading is bad, but this game is pretty small. just use bittorrent. some may say this is bad for cyan worlds, but 1) myst is kinda old, so it doesnt sell much anymore, and 2) myst is one of the best selling pc games ever, so it wouldn't rlly matter.

  • Don't ecourage that. Cyan worlds has hit rough times recently, and every copy of myst sold brings us a little closer to the possibility of a myst 6. :)

  • Very informative review! =D

  • This is a pretty good review, a fair and honest take from a player; not like a few others that give pretty much every game a bad review. Quite informative. :3

Also, the answer to the compass puzzle is in the telescope on the mountain. Point the telescope at the tower with the blinking light, I think, and you can read the angular direction there. That angle is what the button you have to press lies in.

But it does take a minimal knowledge of angles to find it, yes. XD

  • i dont like this game i just got it and it is boring but i still might have a go at it

  • Nice review, I like it... I will definitely be giving you a 5 stars mainly because of the fact that you are very entertaining to watch, You would make a great presenter on TV or something. I like the amount of effort you put into your videos also.

  • Terrible ending, but good review over all.

  • Funny Pokemon watch on the wall.

  • ahh, whoops. I hadn't finished watching the video when I was typing my comment. Never mind!

  • Very good review. Have you tried playing any of the sequels? They make Myst look like a cakewalk. I never completed any of them! The puzzles become nearly impossible at some points.

  • An informative and engaging review without any macho posturing or profanities. A rarity on Youtube.

  • You know you can run Myst on PC's today, you did hopefully know that right? there's a 3D re-make that was called RealMYST and I have it, It's fun as well as the old one. They went on to make 5 Myst games I'm sure you know.

But all besides that, this was a challenging game and I won't forget it. I'll have my kids try it when they grow old when I'm an old man.

  • Hey, I know the Myst games can be tedious, but it's a good game. If you don't like the games, at least try reading the books. Who am I to judge though? Everyone has their own opinions...

Overall, great review, I know it was disrespectful to what I thought was a good game, but it was still nice to watch 5/5.

  • I meant no harm at all to the game, I was acting out some parts to show what the average player would say and do because of how really hard it is.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • Right and I saw that. I can tell when someone lies from time to time, it's good to know that you like/enjoy the series. The main reason why people like this game is because it has no violence and you can't die (in such a way) my parents actually like it because of that.

    You're welcome for the comment.
