  • Damn this song is such a part of the soundtrack of my life. Everytime i hear it i'm transported back to to when i was catching a sunliner coach from Sydney to Coolangatta on my families yearly holiday. It was raining and this "new" Men at Work song came on the radio. I was half asleep and it woke me up and i've loved it ever since. Takes me straight back. LOVE IT LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Muito foda!

  • Antology of rock pop............good band austrakangoo !!(o.v)!!

  • 80's rule...new wave 4ever

  • does anybody know if this was at wembly...or did the men perform elsewhere?...

  • @DartsRme312 it was at the Oz for Africa gig - which ran concurrently with Live Aid. We saw bits throughout the day, including INXS - as far as I know the first time INXS appeared on UK TV. Which I always felt was ironic.

  • @speedbunny hey speed...thank you so much for your incredible music knowledge here....appreciate it!! have a good new year

  • I LOVE MEN AT WORK ALWAYS HAVE AND ALWAYS WILL...THEIR SOUND WAS SO AWESOME!!

  • music is the greatest invention of man.

  • That's Chad Wackerman on the drums, not that this means anything to anyone... that's fucking awesome.

  • @brodestar93 - Definitely means something to me. I first heard of him when he played with Zappa. The man is amazing.

  • @maniccrayon brooo i know right. In an era of weckl, chambers and colaiuta domination he never really got the attention he deserved oh well.

  • @brodestar93 by this point...Jerry Speiser (original drummer) and John Reese (original bassist) had left the group...

  • @brodestar93 Since I'm into good drummers, that does mean something to me! I'm really familiar with Wackerman from his great work with guitarist Allan Holdsworth. Didn't know he played with Men at Work, though.

  • This is a good song. I love how he pretty much stands in one place.

  • Something must be wrong with your system as mine plays fine, albeit only on the right side. -;)

  • OVERKILL this is my favorite men at work song better than down under

  • GHOSTS APPEAR AND FADE AWAY....CLASSIC.

  • johnny b good great song

  • we want "who can it be now?" !!

  • we want " who can't it be now?" !!

  • sweet

  • Greatv Memories when I was in my teens.

  • is that chad wackerman on drums?????

  • @wattdabny Think so. He was playing in studio for their third album, and stuck around for Colin's first solo outing.

  • @StormsongK cool! ta for the info bud!

  • this is not live aid

  • @Righter99 yes it is.

  • classic !!!

  • Unfortunately, I can't speak Itallian...but the closest language I can converse in is Spanish. And that has been effective, before. La Ley in el EEUU prohibito el intrusion de personas, ortra que essos deben un 'writ' por el 'court' del ley hacer asi. En el EEUU, nadie and ningun personas

  • Mono sound?

  • Haya is that Chad Wackerham on drums?

  • Strange how the entire band besides Hay and Ham were all different players by this time, most of them finishing the 'Two Hearts' album.

  • Is Jerry the drummer?

  • very good!!!

  • Colin Hay is trying to explain the analogy /difference between being a debtor to lenders, and being in debt to love. And what it does to your life. And what you have to expect when diving into either of those topics. Debt and love.

  • @richardptimm i'm sorry i didn't read your comments before, I've lost this page. thanks for your explaination, now it's more clear. bye

  • There is a difference between the law in the US and UK...in the UK people called Bailiffs, who aren't sworn officers can intrude into your home and take your belongings. But in the US, only through due process of law can a sworn officer of the law/court, with a writ, signed by a judge, do such a thing. In the US, a man's home is his castle. Even if you're suspected of wrong-doing. and it had better be for a very provable reason.

  • Lollozip, Overkill is an English idiom meaning: going beyond the rational and usual means to take care of something that is affecting you. For example, squishing a worm or kicking a dog that has frightend you. Or, in American culture, riddling an assailant with a hundred bullets, just because he offended you. It's Overkill...too much.

  • what does the title mean? can't find a translation.

  • Live aid was a festival to help Africa...

  • did you work that one out all my your self ? only joking mate

  • The song title is Overkill.

  • why does the audio play only in the left channel in this?

  • It's bounced in mono.

  • @jimsimac I'm thinking maybe the audio is in mono and not stereo. That would explain why it only plays on one side and not both.

  • @jimsimac

it's just the same here, kinda wierd ._.

  • @jimsimac because of mono they found stereo after this concert

  • @jimsimac shitty 80's video conversion.

  • @jimsimac because your deaf in your right ear.

  • @jimsimac because the right channel is burned... ;)

  • @jimsimac someone messed up the transfer

  • @jimsimac *cancels new speaker order.

  • Yeah, Air Supply is so wonderful. That's why I saw Colin Hay play in my town (Columbia, MO) in a very large club last Saturday (15th of August), whereas Air Supply played on a casino boat in a nearby town to far fewer people. Why did Air Supply play to fewer people? Air Supply is music for grannies, while Colin Hay wrote (and still writes) great songs.

  • Air supply is the world's greatest band!!! Colin Hay kissed the foot of Graham Russell!!

  • You tosser.

  • they need music too

  • False, this not live aid 1985

  • no this is "Live Aid", remember, it was a worldwide event, you probally just seen the footage from Wembly Staduim and JFK Staduim, but Australia contributed too (Hence, the word "Oz" behind the country of Africa)

  • air supply suck balls, Men at Work are animal and i was born in 1990

  • howie90 you Bogger!! Air Supply were the main stars of Live Aid UK 1985 and OZ for Africa!! Men at work were booed pelted with rotten tomatoes outside the stadium. Colin was hit in the butt!!

  • Air Supply didn't even play Live Aid. What are you on about?

  • Air supply for faggots ,and dumbasses

  • maybe if you got rid of all that 'ancient' equipment from the 70's, you could hear it out of both of them speekerz. ha ha.

  • Air Supply beat the shit out of half Men at work during this concert!! Jerry was selling pop corn at the gate while John was mopping the floor because Colin sacked them both , Ron was crying in his house.. Russell hitchcock and the rest of the band was the main stars then!!!

  • Hey, Zappa alumnus Chad Wackerman is on drums!

  • There's no way that's Chad!! He wouldn't lower his standards to play with MAW.

  • I get your point man, but it is him. Check out MAW on wikipedia, you'll discover this killer drummer has played with them. Well, I guess everybody has to eat!

  • Chad wackerman is nothing!! dumbass drummer! Air supply rejected him twice!!!

  • Chas Wackerman is an excellent drummer: Frank Zappa only hired the best. Air Supply played a little casino in a small town near mine (Columbia, MO) recently. Colin Hay and his band played in a large club (The Blue Note, Columbia, MO) last Saturday (August 15th) to a huge audience. Why did Hay play in a bigger place to a bigger audience? Simple: Colin Hay wrote and continues to write great music, whereas Air Supply is music for weak-willed women, homosexual men, and grandmothers.

  • Overkill is my favourite Men At Work song. Love this live vid too :)

  • yeeaaa!! exelte :)

  • 80's beat any shit. Ask your mom

  • you shouldnt compare good music to human wastes buddeh XD

  • KICK ASS!!!

  • looks like men at work's live aid appearance live via satellite.

    :)

    i <3 Colin Hay.

  • This is NOT live aid but good performance anyway.

  • several countries put on music festivals and had some of the performances broadcast onto the giant screens at wembley and philly.

  • this is only playing on my left speaker

  • whats the title of this son?

  • Overkill

  • Lol at the guy serving god after listening to this as a young nipper. It was reliably reported that this song was about sexual diseases and Hays wondered if anyone would pick it as such...lol

  • This is Monroon 5 of our day you just can fine good music like this I hear them live one of the best shows I have seen LONG LIVE THE 80's

  • Men At Work was my first concert in 1983...Love Colin Hay, Overkill is one of my all time favorites

  • this song changed my life it set me on a spiritual search that brought me to dedicate my life to serving God and i was like 10 years old, i doubt colin hay meant it to be that deep yeah and maybe i read into it a little too much but hey it's all good

  • I love that Colin Hay wasn't scared to go after the higher notes. I see way too many singers play it safe and change the song when performing live. Not here... Good man Colin!

  • i didn't know sting sang for men at work

  • What happened to Jerry Speiser?

  • I heard this again a few years ago on "Scrubs", and forgot how great this band really was. This is once again one of my favorite songs.

  • Long live the Men! Underrated as "pop" but based on all the comments here, there was substance and true talent underneath that "pop-perfect" exterior. The sad thing about bands like this, Toto and other awesome 80's music is that they wouldn't get the time of day in mainstream radio today. Criminal if you ask me (glad you did! LOL!!) Thanks for posting this reminder - thanks for all of your comments as well. You've all reinforced my trip down memory lane as an awesome fall! Rock on!!

  • omg i wish i would have been around to embrace the 80's sigh, i hate music today, especially compared to the greatness of 80's music. *dies a little inside*

  • buenisima musica de los 80´s no es de mi epoca pero es la mejor musica que hasta este 2009 he escuchado =)

  • The 80's...MAN

I cant even get started about my views to anyone about the 80s lol.

Im 18, and yeah I like the music nowadays,

    but this stuff.

    Blows it all away.

    91 wishin' 81 <3

  • I heard ya buddy, I lived em and my kids say the same thing as you.

  • One of the greatest 80`s songs was down under

  • Technically this is OZ for Africa, but it all went to the same cause - so.. it's all good.

  • Ahh, I love the 80's...*sigh*

  • Colin Hay!!! :D

  • great 80 s the best decade although I was born in 1990

  • Wow, so your 19 and wish you were around for the 80's. It was a more optimistic time I thinks. I was a freshman in high school in 81, so I was the perfect age to experience it all... :o) Miss it......

  • Que recuerdos de este gran grupo australiano.

  • dig it man i used to drink to this

  • i remember them playin the Cricketers Arms in Richmond many years ago along with other unknown local bands then like ACDC,,& hes(C.Hays) Still at it&is sounding as good as ever!,i did a gig once with the bassist&he told me how they pissed their money away.....loll

    great band!

  • The song is "Overkill"

and one of the reasons music was better 20 to 40 years ago is that despite the improvements in technology, in the past the players knew how to operate the instruments better.

To be honest there was NOT that much money in it and you had to do it out of love.

Now people just want the money - and many get it because most of the public - to quote FZ - wouldn't know good music if it came up and bit them on the ass.

  • YES you have all the reason.

    Thanks.

  • npspec34 you would be a music snob then music is as good as it has always been i love my cash and tenacious d =D

  • @npspec34 men at work where in it for the money

to qoute colin hay " i always knew we'd be famous, i always knew we'd get rich... small hits never crossed my mind "

  • What's the name of this song??

  • Overkill

  • No, mate men at work are Aussies

  • Actually Jimmyjam was right...

He (Colin Hay - lead vocals) emigrated from Scotland as a kid. He's about as Aussie as half of AC/DC!

  • Hey,I'm a Kiwi what do I know LOL!

  • muito bom

  • overkill ...

  • Music was SO much better back then. Todays music is only about sex, death, money and violence. Sad really.

  • Hang on?

it was about money, sex, death and violence then, too.

    they just did it better.

  • and drugs... cant forget that one...

  • @dsmcclellan ...Gee I dont know how old u are Hun...but its been around 4 ever..go but to the 60"s...

  • crazy !!!!!!!

  • That's Chad Wackerman (Frank Zappa) on drums. He only toured with them from '85-'86, though.

  • we used to sing day after day drinking beers lol

  • i remember listening to this sitting drinking with me mates in 85 at the bbq area at armstrong street laverton thos were the days that concert brings back memories when they all got together music now days aint the same go men at work ledgends

  • You sure got that right! Music today is shit! They have watered it down with a bunch of titts & ass and nobody cares!

  • que bien

  • love it

  • Great band Aussies finest

  • isnt he scottish

  • Good voice, if only their songs matched the quality of his voice lol I did like some of their songs though, but you know... just not the rest.

  • Please Doc open turn that Delorean arround and take me to 1980!!!!!!

  • This guy has great vocal pitch!

  • good vid love the song cool

  • Best if Ron, Jerry and John were involved here!

  • Chad Wackerman is not chopped liver :)

  • Wackerman on drums! Cool.

  • Too bad Ron Strykert didn´t play the guitar in this song...it is not the same...

  • Yeah, too bad. The original members were not there.

When was this event? I think the orginal members of Men At Work was changed by then. Unfortunately, it is the beginning of the fall in popularity.

  • july 13 1985

  • I think they very very under rated .....This is Great songwriting and these songs still sound good.I still dig this vibe....thats all gone in todays music.

  • There is no question about it. The Men At Work songs still sounds good after more than 2 dacades. It is a testimoney of good song writing.

  • The song is called 'Overkill'

  • plz anyone can tell me, what it title of this song

  • Just a fantastic song...everyone only remembers " Down Under" !! ..." Cargo" buy the album and listen to it....its f******g superb, and i like 70's punk....but its the tune that gets me....fantastic !! bring em back, better an the shit we listen to now......

  • HOW LONG AFTER LIVE AID DID THEY SPLIT

  • the same year i think 1985

  • The original members did not unite after split. I read that it was quite an unhappy split. Such a pity for a talented band.

  • muito bom !!! uma musica que todo mundo adora !!!! aqui no brasil adoramos esta banda!!!!

  • OK

    ESTYA CHEVERE

  • Only a great band!

  • absolutely brill!!!!

  • man, i got to see their reunion in '97, at the house of blues. they're *really* good live.

  • fine tune

  • Is that Chad Wackerman on drums ?

  • must be him! quite a surprise...

  • GREAT!!!!

  • GREAT!!!!

  • Down Under - Men At Work - Best Song

  • It is Live Aid, but not at Wembley or Philadelphia.

And they did have a follow up album, it's called Cargo and Overkill is off it.

  • I don't think that this is Live Aid...

  • This is the only band ever to win a grammy for best new artist and never have a follow up album! To this day, they are still one of my favorites!

  • they had follow up albums..

  • Wow! I just looked at you're right! I'd always heard on triva that they never did realase a follow-up albumn. Guess I'll have to take look/listen.

  • Who can it be now - Men at Work - Best Song
