everyone here is trashing Bono, in fairness to him he did grow up in fairly mundane surroundings in Dublinand was not priveleged or particularly wealthy...so effectively came from nothing to be one of the worlds most famous musicians. if people think he is talentless then it says more about society and what we choose to be popular rather than the quality of the artist or group itself. if he wants to recite bukowski then let him, it obviously means something to him as it does to any reader!

Oh...yeah like Charle Bukoski, who is from Germany and came to America at the age of three with the rest of his German family in 1923. I lost all respect for U2 when I learned that the lyrics to Vertigo were written as a compromise from the original version that Bono wrote as a freedom song about an Indian chief. Utterly sold out. I can appreciate when Bono reps Ian Curtis and Bukowski, but they stayed true to their vision to the end and never compromised.
