  • STEVE HARRIS is GOD !!!!!!! i just cant tell how many bands he influenced...

  • John Shaffer is So Fucking Cool...!

  • I love the Maiden version more of course but that beginnng riff was awesome just like both bands!!!

  • you can really tell iced earth is heavily influenced by iron maiden....up the irons and iced earth is awesome too

  • All I hear is win.

  • Never get tired of that riff.

  • @Reaper4517 every riff in this song is just killer

  • iron madiens version is better

  • @rolingajayalday Nice Iced Earth version, but i still like the original ..the rawness of the sound

  • @TheRolling123 its a cover dude

  • @WitchingDeath666 No shit SHERLOCK

  • Great cover indeed. Only vocals dont seem to be fitting.

  • this cover is awesome and i love Maiden

  • I thought Richard Christy did a great job on drums as well as I thought this was the best line-up Iced Earth had!!

    --Thundersticks

  • Okay seriously guys Maiden is my favorite band ever..and Iced earth is on my top 5..I mean think of it this way the original Transylvania was performed on Maidens self-titled in 1980...of course its not going to be as heavy..because its 30 years old

  • duedelduedue =o

whats that? metal crossed my way!!!!

    btw

HAST DU DEN SCHLEIFENTRICK ERST EINMAL RAUS, SEHEN DEINE SCHUHE PRIMA AUS!

  • bloody hell, I so loved playing this on my guitar. what's it been now, eight years? damn it all, I'm going to have that bridge repaired and get back into it, songs like this inspired me to take it up in the first place.

  • Not many bands could cover this track well but this version rocks.

  • Im a huge Maiden fan as well okay...you look in Johns bio and the reason he started making music (at least one of the reasons anyway) was because he met Steve Harris in a parking lot and that gave him the idea for Iced Earth and the music business in general..so dont hate respect

  • best idea for an album ever

  • the two versions both rock! bam bam bam

  • \m/!!! >:P

  • *headbanging* AMAZING. HO. LEE. SHIT.

  • Awesome Iced version!!!

  • Wow!!!! Great cover. I love these guys now!!!!

  • Excellent Cover. Iced Earth made my day.

  • great cover if not better at least more clear than the original one

  • Great Cover!

  • great cover from a great band

  • great cover from a great band

  • You know you have a great bassline when you can play JUST the bassline and STILL be amazing.

  • Yes this is better but get this it's easy to cover a song and make it better but it's hard to crate such a masterpiece like this so all honours to Maiden that made this song especially to Steve Harris and props to Iced Earth for cover this in a way that cover needs to sound :)) Long live metal :) and btw get the year that this was made and the realy song it's like 20 years difference so of course this sounds cleaner :)

  • maiden... only

  • MAIDEN RULEZ...!!!

  • I'm a Huge Maiden fan, but i see alot of brothers commenting,

    Guys

    1. It's a cover, To honour their gods

2.It's not out there to beat maiden

    3.John shaffer

  • @agentcamo Agree, I think this is an excellent cover of a true masterpiece. Comparing one with the other would be like comparing apples with oranges, there are 20 years between both versions, guitars sounded a lot different back then. It would have been nearly impossible to recreate the same sound. So we should listen to this and judge it for what it is, a tribute to Maiden.

  • @agentcamo

    Jon*

  • @agentcamo who can beat maiden?

  • @tnghenof Megadeth.

  • @LalsMK91 I'd call that a tie. Steve Harris and Dave Mustaine have oddly similar songwriting. Seriously, listen to some of the early stuff from both bands. They're a lot alike.

  • @aquasaber Yeah, they're both awesome, my two favorite bands.

  • @agentcamo This version fucking sodomizes the Maiden version. Let's be honest about it. Maiden wrote a great song, it just sounds better heavier.

  • Nah, hate brent's snare drum on this, but I know what you mean

  • @Paradigm6790 I'm not quite sure I agree. There is a certain charm to the raw production on the first Maiden album, I think. Then again, I never prefer cover version(s) of any song.

  • @agentcamo

His name is spelled JON, not JOHN.

  • @agentcamo Just like tribute bands just want to tribute their favourite band not try and become or beat them.

  • @agentcamo ''It's a cover, To honour their gods'' You think Iron Maiden are their gods? ahahahahahahahaha Iced Earth owning \m/

  • @troll226 no he doesnt think Maiden are Gods, we know

  • @troll226

it's pretty possible. even metallica members are inspired by iron maiden

  • @agentcamo *Jon

  • Excellent!!!

  • i like this version because the guitars sound better but the original is much more faster

  • @MinAurs sorry but this one is much faster than the original

  • @MrDR7no you should listen to absu's one... that's what you call fast...

  • @MrArghhhh jesus thats really fast thanks for telling me it kicks some ass! although this one is as good...

  • @MrDR7no you're welcome

  • woah, transsylvania cover of wt hell LOLXD noway for this coverXD!! c.a.n.a.

    d.a

  • I'm just goona say that i like Iron maiden version better but this sounds cleaner because they had better instruments when they did this cover Even tho Maiden's better

  • Amazing Cover!!! Reminds me of the 1 Children Of Bodom did 4 Aces High. Still there is no way to 'improve' an Iron Maiden.... that's like trying to count all the stars in the entire universe!!! Ridiculously Impossible!!! An Epic cover for an Epic instrumental though!!! Still, UP THE IRONS MAN!!!!!!

  • Amazing Cover!!! reminds me of how Children of Bodom did 1 4 Aces High... I mean there is no getting better than an Iron Maiden classic!!! All that can be done is different versions cuz once it is done over, it loses that unique 'Iron Maiden' touch!! Beautiful though!!! All the same... UP THE IRONS MAN!!!!!!!

  • Iced Transylvania

  • iced earth are the masters of metal with the lord of guitar riffs leading ...

  • Iced earth is one of the best bands I have ever heard!! \m/

  • This is much more rhythmic and melodious than the original. Not saying it is better (which i think it is), just it has a slight jazz kick to it. I would take the drums from the original Transylvania and slow it enough to fit this modern-rhythmical version.

  • dammm.. thats a sweet bass tone

  • Richard Christy and Brent Smedley are excellent drummers

  • It doesn't make any sense to cover a maiden instrumental song when you don't have Steve Harris in your band

  • they don't make album covers this good anymore

  • @charger619c Hell yeah. This is such a fucking awesome album cover.

  • @charger619c Dystopia is just as good! look it up

  • iron maiden is always better dont get me wrong i like this version and just thought about the sonata arctica version of die with your boots on i enjoy listening to bands covering iron maiden songs but it doesn't have the right touch that maiden has in my opinion UP THE IRONS \\m//

  • Iron Maiden Created it, how can you say this beats it?

    The Creator is always better,

Iced Earth Is Still amazing but in My Metal Heart Iron Maiden Is Number One

  • Iron Maiden creates, Iced Earth improves. That's all that needs to be said.

  • How can anybody say that this version is better?!?!?! I mean, if Maiden didn't write this just how would anyone else play it, huh? A cover can't be better than the original. Go to bed.

  • @SegaMaiden no one can tell a story better than its writer? well that makes no sense to me. im not saying this is better or worse, some covers are worse some are better. but iced earth does covers in a way thats pretty true to the bands that write the songs

  • oh well, where ever, when ever, IRON MAIDENs gonna get you, no matter how far!

  • Iced Earth + Iron Maiden = Two great metal bands. Stop trying to compare and just enjoy them both. I swear, everything on Youtube is either a contest or a childish argument.

  • very nice stuff IMHO

  • I prefer this version. It's got such a better production value, and I can hear the drums. >_>

  • Ok heres why Iron Maidens is better.

    1. The guitar is a lot more tasty and the main riff is played a lot better

    2. it's Iron Maiden

  • @MrDuncan117 OMG!!! Plz dont compare Iced Earth with Iron Maiden, I mean theyve to different styles^^ I love Iced Earth and Iron Maiden, specially Iron Maiden ;D But the cover is done in their style \m/

  • While Maiden is a better band, this cover outshines the original. Here's why:

    1. Zazzed up drums (Maiden's guitar solos are better, but this drum part blows the Maiden version out of the water. Maiden didn't have Niko McBrain yet though)

    2. Better production quality due to money/technology (Maiden lacked the money to pay for nice recording back then and all the recording equipment in use then is now antiquated)

  • the beggining is a little off but still very good. nice cover

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot class love this version. as a die hard maiden fan can say they can do a good cover :)

  • this cover is more powerful then maiden version i like it :D

  • If only in the first iron maiden album guitars have a clean sound it would sound like this.

  • nice....diferent from the original but good(and powerfull)

  • Irish folk drinking songs, drinking out of wooden mugs, chainmail, medieval weapons and beards!

  • Love it

  • awesome cover!!!

  • Great cover by a great band to another,I like it when you hear a song and you can hear the band's certain style in it,great work

  • I like Maiden's version better simply for the pace of it. This one is tight, though.

  • Pure awesomeness !!! This is the best cover of Iron Maiden there could possibly be

  • Maiden's version is BETTER AND HEAVIER...

  • for some reason i dont really like Iron Maiden... well i do... but not as much as other bands(iced earth lets say :D)... i find this to be an excellent cover :D i like it better than the original infact, cause its more heavy i think :D

  • @KillzoneV3 Lol, Iron Maiden is the prophet of the new wave of metal genre. They are still active since 1975 and very popular. Many other popular bands like Metallica, Megadeth etc all learned from Maiden! God bless Maiden :)

  • @mitul56

well i cant deny any of those, i just spoke my mind :)

  • 1:02 love that part :-)

  • Epic cover!!

  • I wish the bass was a bit louder

  • this cover is way better than the iron maiden version. I love both but this one has a cleaner sound

  • @Xemptuous This is cleaner, yes - but Maiden has always kept that bit of dirtiness in their music much to their credit. It is what makes them what they are. That said, I still think this version is a little more refined, simply because Iced Earth was already well developed when they released it, whereas the Maiden release was, though by no means rough or incomplete, quite an early release for them. Makes a difference for sure.

  • iced earth cover is so much better.....succecers

  • @g00dguyforyou I dont think so

  • nothing beats the raising hell version.

  • Both covers are good but I think I like this one better.

  • @iluvenmetal yeh it kicks ass your the best

  • no1 doubts that iron maiden was/is a great band, but this cover just blows my brains out

  • If you think this bad anyone out there fuck yourself and leave metal!

  • Horror Show is one of the few albums by IE I actually enjoy.

  • they actually made a GREAT cover of this song!

    both bands rule!

  • Yeah i agree, rap is, well its just terrible.

  • IRON MAIDEN AND ICED EARTH 4 EVER...

  • this is why i switched to metal from gay ass rap they dont even have to say shit and its still the shit fuck hip hop and rap METAL FOR LIFE

  • this should be the theme song to the movie Van Helsing that woul make a bad ass music video if you put t hem together

  • @ JEKAZOL bro hetfeild is good, but this is so far beyond him it's not funny, well it kinda is, as for his singing he was good, but he is too old for it now

Another legend that is a victim of old age is bruce dickenson he was beast back in the day, but it just aint in him anymore

  • You're probably right about Hetfield, but Bruce? I have really high hopes for the "Final Frontier" album, let me tell you that.

  • @SuperLongbeard Well its like this bruce was the best fucker around but age has limited his ablility to hit those high note, if he could still hit those high note he would annhiliate everyone

  • @SuperLongbeard On second though Bruce still got it

  • Yeah its beast

  • i love this instrumental

  • call me hypocritical if u must but i like this version better it sounds a lil more metaled out lolz... i like both but the maiden one lacks a lil and i actually like maiden more live cause their guitars are lil heavier ya know

  • @kaosknight123 well gee if you compare this version with iron's studio, this one will sound better(duh), since we are talking 1980. Listen to the reading festival 1980 version of iron maiden, now that will blow your mind

  • alright lets see if ur right haha not judging lolz

  • sorry bro i just listened to it and i wasnt really impressed... not dissing ur opinion i but it was a little to fast n the notes were a little to fast and the riffs almost sounded as if they were picked to many times.... idk maybe its just me... i still think this one is better iron maiden is great though

  • Im not gonna get into a confrontation since everyone has their opinion. But what i dont understand is your reasoning for liking this version over another. Either way Iron maiden has a lot of versions of transylvania. These guys just made a tribute, they didnt do it to try to make Maiden look bad(like anyone can pull that off)

  • @kaosknight123 I totally agree with you, this cover is actually better than the original, and that almost never is the case. It is just more brutal and metal, but hey Iron Maiden still rules.

  • @kaosknight123 Yeh but the production on Iron Maiden the album is poor, it was made 30 years ago.

  • @kaosknight123 I agree with you, this version sounds heavyer than Maiden's. But u must have in mind that Maiden's debut album had a problem with the recording of both guitars, that's why their Transylvania does not sound really good, along with the rest of their first album. Steve Harris once said that it was a shame that the guitar sounded so bad in their first album.

  • @kaosknight123

sure, but remember that the original song was released in 1980

  • @kaosknight123 you're right about iron maiden being better live, especially now that Bruce has improved and can hit the high notes but i think the best part is the energy they put into every performance, it just makes everything that much better

  • @kaosknight123 dude u cant say maiden one lacks hahaha i am fuckin laughin at u ur calling the original lacks something u mean the one who create this epic song lacks and one who copy having the credits for fuck sake if maiden didnt come up with this iced earth cant even dream about playing this...............

  • @kaosknight123 lol you cant say Iron Maiden playing Transylvania LACKS rofl rofl!!! Watch the Live vids from like 1981 or 1982 i think haha stupid kid

  • @kaosknight123 i don't know but sound like that because is like 20 years later maybe??

  • @kaosknight123 maiden's original metal "ya know"

  • @kaosknight123 More "heaviness" or harsher tones doesn't always make a song better but i'm not saying this cover isn't good, because it is.

  • @kaosknight123 Maiden's version sounds much more raw and not like my ears a partially covered. Good cover though.

  • The playing is Hetfield tight. great.

  • I highly recommend you the cover version from the Hungarian Pagan Black Metal band called Bornholm...

  • Well good. The original sounds a little rushed, as good as it is. Love hearing Maiden covers from worthy bands.

  • I agree with you there but i still LOVE the maiden one... its still real badass xD

  • Nice cover... but of course no one can beat Iron Maiden.

  • @peterfaj agree, they are still the ones who made this song

  • @peterfaj yeh it can

  • @peterfaj that sir, is a matter of opinions if you are talking about the musical aspect only

  • @WFwildchild Yes, yes that was and is my opinion. Your observational skills are amazing.

  • @peterfaj It was not supposed to beat Maiden dickface. Its just a tribute

  • @peterfaj

    Dunno, i prefer this one

  • @peterfaj I couldn't disagree more. Iced Earth made Hallowed be Thy Name that much better. This version is also better. Anything Iced Earth touches immediately becomes better.

  • @peterfaj I agree totally!!! Reminds me of the Children Of Bodom cover for Aces High!!! Totally Epic!!! Still as u say... cannot 'improve' an Iron Maiden!!! UP THE IRONS MAN!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Haha, good one. Now go listen to the real version and get back to me to admit how wrong you are.

  • how is this cover bad?

  • is so modificated of the real version

  • how does that make it bad? why should a cover have to be a clone of a song, it's a good thing they made it their own.

  • you are so right

  • best

  • da hora
