Only problem is, Youtube's audio is obviously crap compared to whatever this or any decent audio system can do, and I think it's awesome that he has this all rigged up and a teensy little crappo-TV!
10.000€ for the cheapest and 30.000€ for the best? Man, my Technics delivers really good sound and it was really cheap, "just" 1200€. 30.000 for your top modell? It's truly ridiculous.
That thing took forever to load. It reminds me of my PHILLIPS DVD player.. I die a slow, agonizing death waiting for it to load and play. I also prefer to see the vinyl while it is playing. This unit might be good for a clear transfer to digital, but it's clearly not visually entertaining or a time saver. I'll stick with my Technics 1200's, thanks.

Is it the one made by Finial? --- I remember a marketed and advertised prototype. The review I read in Stereophile was positive but the thing never really got off the ground due to a general lack of interest. It has to be rare as hens teeth---and if it broke, who the hell could fix it?
Broken 78s is always sad but listen to this. One of the characters in my documentary called Chris lost 40,000 7" in a flood to his garage. Maybe you can't own the laser turntable you can certainly own our documentary. Make a pledge on our Kickstarter and rescue our documentary from silence!
@TheJJHman Sometimes the scratches are left having played it with a styrus in the past. Depending on the machine or after-filter, it could try and filter out the scratch noises but that again is taking more away from the conventional record playing.
At 13k-16k to get the accommodative unit, and the "de-clicker", you might as well just put a down payment on a really nice turntable or a car. I Heard one and the sound is not as good as a Technics 1200 with a Shure 97xe, a $500 setup!! There is simply none of the analogue bloom and presence which is the reason why people listen to LPs. The sound hangs dead in the speakers rather than forming a realistic soundstage and it's sensitivity to dust, is a huge downside to this technology.
@miamiwax The woofers look like EV or ElectroVoice. I can see a McIntosh Preamp and some McIntosh power amps. Google for EVM 18B for 18 inch woofer. They even had a 30 inch woofer which are $1,000 a woofer. Which is a EV 30W.
I have a friend who owns EV and McIntosh systems and even though it was made back in the 70's it still holds its value. And sounds pretty good for analog audio and it blows all of todays junk out of the water.
I really wish there was still a spinning record showing. That's part of the fun of the vinyl records. Although, for sound, the lasers are supposed to be able to eliminate most of the popping and scratching of a vinyl, so it's all good, I guess.
The sound quality is poor, the sound isn't better than the microphone which recorded it (integrated in video camera). But bet that it sounded very sweet in there, when they filmed it :-)
This player IS analogue. The laser is being reflected by the grooves on the LP and being picked up by the optical assembly as variances in light intensity. Nothing digital about this process.
could be an idea for archive stuff but i think we lose the analog feel with that kind of equipment, because with a stylus the medium and low frequency response have more presence, it's like listing a kind of SACD with that equipement.
marvellous ELP Laser Turntable, in 1980 I was thinking to a vinyl LP player with laser phonorivelator, now, 30 years later this is reality! I'm very interested also to 45 rpm record played in this video, title song? congratulations.
Will it play 78 rpm discs? or only 45's & 33's? I've read that it won't play colored vinyl rercords. Just the black vinyl ones.....

My dream turntable would be a laser stylus with a gigantic heavy inertia turntable. Damn that would cost a lot.

This machine is amazing! I've already heard of ELP but I've never seen one in action...I'm wondering how it handles scratches and warped records?

They are JBL studio monitors from the early 70's. Not sure of the exact model but I assure you they are very expensive.
