I've got a E8400 with a Palit 4850, I play Crysis/Warhead on a fresh Vista x64 in 1280x1024, no AA (cause I want this awesome blur and the edge-AA (for vegetation)), the important settings very high (postproc, shaders, textures, objectdet, waterqual), rest high with always (!) >20frames
I'm using optimised services, pagefile, win2k-theme etc, and it definetetly helps.
I would upload a video of another games, If i could record videos with fraps :X don´t know whats happening, i think its a Driver problem, Fraps doesn´t show up in game and doesn´t record anything :(

ahaha u dont even have 4 gigs of ram, which will help frames noticably. my 4850 is overclocked to max without volt mod and would never get 100fps u noob. if you were running 2 4870s in crossfire wouldnt even get 100fps. at 1024x768 it might be possible but thats a bitch rezolution. you have 512ddrs and 800 stream processors, turn up the rez.

No it aint true Dmr the 8800ultra is the equivalent of the 9800gtx, and as the hd4850 beats the 9800gtx in almost every game, then zcoolcat should go for the "cheaper" 4850, so be careful what info u give out man. Oh and the 9800gx2 is a dual gpu card which runs the same as two hd4850's, but this only gives a 7fps increase in crysis, trust me i have tested them.good vid though.
well it runs only about 4 fps slower on my pc than other 4850s with realy good pcs and i have 5600 X2 , 2gb pc4200 ram , 4850 .. so my specs are not too great .. but i get 38 fps avg on all high 1280x1024 on crysis demo benchmark so you should get about 35-40 fps avg on them settings and crysis demo benchmark .. so i would say .. yes it would run fairly smooth

i'd say you could play with all of the settings on high with an average of 35fps. you can't set the graphics to very high because you don't have vista, but you should be fine.

My card crashes alot when i play NFS underground, and even spore :P.
I play for about 10-15 minutes and then red lines appear cris-crossing my screen, and im forced to shut down my computer.

install speedfan. its a program that monitors core temps(which is ur processor)
me personally dont like my system above 45c
also do a little at a time and u might want to look into a aftermarket heatsink
the zalmon 9700 would be great if it would fit in ur case. good luck
