Nearly 316,000 views!!!! Ummmmmmmmm Donna, do you see this? Recording companies are you listening??? Re-release this as a single and it will be absolutely HUGE!!!!!!!!! Come on already, this is frustrating!!!! Such an amazing song and it will certainly hit number 1 on its release.
Yes it was recorded for "54", but Donna hated the movie so she wouldn't let them use it. The leaked demo later surfaced getting play on NYC's KTU, and made it to #1 on their request chart. Donna then grudgingly allowed it to be remixed as a bonus track for her "I Will Go With You" single. She was upset that it was a leaked demo, without "finished" vocals.
wow, never heard this mix before - always liked the original/Morales mixes, didn't like the Hex Hector mixes, but THIS mix really embodies the warmth/vibe of her classic 70s disco Moroder work. Should have been released as a single. Too bad. Could have been #1

wow.. eventhough this is more recent, it deffinitely takes me back to the energy of her earlier years. i've always loved you donna! thank you for being here during my life!!
o wow i been looking for this when i moved to atlanta i lost my 45 of this song the original version. this was the song that played the night i was at studio 54 i was a regular there and MJ was there that nite he was on the floor dancing we did the bump together he smelled soooooo good i miss those days thanks summer for the memories
@realmrsmjackson That's impossible... this song was recorded around '97-'98 for the movie "Studio 54." It is a great throwback to her glorious disco years and shows that she's still got it.
Donna is always amazing. Love this retro disco version. It's much better than the remixed released versions (which I hate). Great song. Great vocals. Now where can I get a copy of this??? Thanks for posting on youtube summer4all
Donna Summer got robbed when this was not put on the "54" soundtrack! She and her music are the REASON Studio 54 even existed! this song and Donna Summer are the SH*T!
Unfortunately, Donna herself canned this song as she did not like the movie. Because NYC's KTU radio station played a version, word got out, and there was such a demand for this song that SONY included it on the remix CD single for I Will Go With You back in '99. This version is by far the best!
It focused too much on song diversity and not stellar production. The rnb crap should have been tossed aside. Less diversity and more dance oriented songs. I dont want to hear Beyonce, I want to hear Donna Summer.
i normaly have much discust towards love songs due to how over rated they are but donna summer can sing about a bottle of ketchup! and it will still sound like gold.
I understand what you are saying, but I was not so inclined to believe what you say. Maybe, yes, she was not looking for a younger audience. For that, I commend her! The 30/40 Something generation has something to offer! I bought 5 copies of it on its debut! Try to do that with the younger crowd!
Here's the facts..... This version was the original production for 54 feat. Donna Summer (she was intended to appear in the final performance scene). However she was not omitted, she opted out after screening the film (too much sex & drugs, etc.). This version is not even a final mix (not sure how you got it)..... I know all this because I produced it (Lorraine Cato version also). Hex Hector remixed it for the "I Will Go With You" bonus track. Nice to hear it again, it turned out pretty good.
I beg to differ. I understand your "disappointment" from the dissonance created by your "expectancy" and "what is", however Crayons is her attempt to color her perspective of life from an "authentic" point-of-view. I was expecting more of this kind of music, but I respect what she did. As a matter of fact found a lot "value" in her "profound interpretations".....and her voice is good as ever! Try listening with an open mind...
When stating a point of view it's important that the person receiving it understands what you're trying to say. As it stands I understood very little of your comment. This was not helped by your choice of words, sentence construction and incorrect use of quotation marks. I'm all for the the widening of ones vocabulary but never underestimate the value of good old plain English. Better that your point of view is clear and concise rather than lost in what could be perceived as pretentious waffle.
Well, I'm happy that you liked it but I'm afraid it just left me cold. I was hoping that she'd move away from the disco/dance stuff but the idea of having each track differing from the next in musical style just resulted in a messy soulless album. A sub standard piece of work. It broke no new ground and didn't open her to a younger audience, which in her own words was part of the intention of Crayons. Plus after its initial small success it just died a death.
Donna got DISSED like hell by being ommitted form the Studio 54 soundstrack. She ruled that damned place!!! this is definately a damned hit! Makes me furious we were not given this gem by the powers that be!
Man!!! What a song you got right here!!! Definitely its a hit, and you should put a download link for it, I think we all going to be glad if you do that. Disco lives!!! PEACE.
@james122865 I definitely agree 100 + %. Artist like her should groom these knuckleheads who call themselves artists today. Boy could they use some true musical education, class and style. Instead of just trying to show off video style dances & winning awards. Today's artists what a bore.
Still I wonder why this song didn´t hit the charts in Europe, and than especialy in the Netherlands. Or was it just wishfull thinking from me. Donna´s carreer started in the Netherlands and there are still so many fans who love her music and dance the night away on the music of our disco Queen.
This is the original mix done for the movie Studio 54. Not sure this version is really Donna's to release. Hex Hector later remixed this song as part of the CD single release for I Will Go With You. Donna says she'd like to release a lot of this vaulted stuff someday. I hope sooner than later.

This not the Hex Hector 12" mix, It is the original version produced & mixed by Richie Jones for the Studio 54 film.
Hex's mix is included on the single of "I Will Go With You". This version is un-released (actually not even a final mix).
