Yes it was recorded for "54", but Donna hated the movie so she wouldn't let them use it. The leaked demo later surfaced getting play on NYC's KTU, and made it to #1 on their request chart. Donna then grudgingly allowed it to be remixed as a bonus track for her "I Will Go With You" single. She was upset that it was a leaked demo, without "finished" vocals.

o wow i been looking for this when i moved to atlanta i lost my 45 of this song the original version. this was the song that played the night i was at studio 54 i was a regular there and MJ was there that nite he was on the floor dancing we did the bump together he smelled soooooo good i miss those days thanks summer for the memories

This not the Hex Hector 12" mix, It is the original version produced & mixed by Richie Jones for the Studio 54 film.

Hex's mix is included on the single of "I Will Go With You". This version is un-released (actually not even a final mix).

Donna Summer got robbed when this was not put on the "54" soundtrack! She and her music are the REASON Studio 54 even existed! this song and Donna Summer are the SH*T!

Unfortunately, Donna herself canned this song as she did not like the movie. Because NYC's KTU radio station played a version, word got out, and there was such a demand for this song that SONY included it on the remix CD single for I Will Go With You back in '99. This version is by far the best!

Crayons is not her best cd, it was not her worse.

It focused too much on song diversity and not stellar production. The rnb crap should have been tossed aside. Less diversity and more dance oriented songs. I dont want to hear Beyonce, I want to hear Donna Summer.

Here's the facts..... This version was the original production for 54 feat. Donna Summer (she was intended to appear in the final performance scene). However she was not omitted, she opted out after screening the film (too much sex & drugs, etc.). This version is not even a final mix (not sure how you got it)..... I know all this because I produced it (Lorraine Cato version also). Hex Hector remixed it for the "I Will Go With You" bonus track. Nice to hear it again, it turned out pretty good.

I understand your "disappointment" from the dissonance created by your "expectancy" and "what is", however Crayons is her attempt to color her perspective of life from an "authentic" point-of-view. Well, I'm happy that you liked it but I'm afraid it just left me cold. I was hoping that she'd move away from the disco/dance stuff but the idea of having each track differing from the next in musical style just resulted in a messy soulless album. A sub standard piece of work. It broke no new ground and didn't open her to a younger audience, which in her own words was part of the intention of Crayons. Plus after its initial small success it just died a death.

This is the original mix done for the movie Studio 54. Not sure this version is really Donna's to release. Hex Hector later remixed this song as part of the CD single release for I Will Go With You. Donna says she'd like to release a lot of this vaulted stuff someday. I hope sooner than later.

This song was out in 1999 or 2000. I bought at least 2 Cds with different Remixes..:-))) But this mix came out somewhere but was never very well know. I got it from a CD Mix Compilation from Ebay:-) Hope this Helps...
